September 2, 201213 yr Member He passed away today at the age of 91. The man who put all the lyrics to Burt Bacharach's music. He had a much lower profile publically than Burt did, but made an invaluable contribution to the world of music: Edited September 2, 201213 yr by alphanguy74
September 2, 201213 yr Member One of my favorite songs, and like all of their best, this represents the mid/late 60s so beautifully. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iRfbuwOj0Bc
September 2, 201213 yr Member Another one of my all time favorite songs. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4WZjqdPVaI0
September 2, 201213 yr Member Apparently Hal David said this was his favorite song. It's such a tricky little song and suits Dionne's range to a T. It always makes me melancholy. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gx6zm2lGF90
September 2, 201213 yr Member I'm glad Barbra decided to pair these two songs together, instead of doing them individually. They're a perfect match. <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/99cCk3KtBNU" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
September 2, 201213 yr Member http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9ZcA3kiaQb0 I didn't see your post above, Y&RWT. I love that song. I got a greatest hits cassette of Fifth Dimension a long time ago and just about wore it out listening to this song.

September 2, 201213 yr Member This was one of my favorite songs when I was growing up. What that says about me, draw your own conclusions. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zsHwVRL06R8
September 2, 201213 yr Member I can't believe there isn't more Dionne Warwick on this thread. I think the combo of David, Bacharach and Warwick was gold. None of them were anything without the other. Dionne voice was so magical and versatile before she ruined it. Honestly, even in recent years she can make that crappy smokers voice work because she was so well trained. My favorites were Don't Make Me Over and The Windows of the World. Edited September 2, 201213 yr by Chris B
September 2, 201213 yr Member <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/87XQKCXfFjQ" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> This was always a nice song. This is an interesting way of describing his songs: Geoffrey O’Brien, reviewing the Bacharach-David body of work in The New York Review of Books in 1999, called Mr. David’s lyrics “a peculiar blend” in which “the encroachments of the maudlin are generally kept at bay by the dexterity of the rhymes.” Edited September 2, 201213 yr by quartermainefan
September 2, 201213 yr Member That is one of Dusty's best. This song is how I first got into Dusty's music, aside from some oldies radio staples. Elvis Costello did a Bacharach cover album and sang this on that PBS show David Byrne hosted. I was transfixed. And Dusty's version is perfection.
September 2, 201213 yr Member Nothing beats this, as far as I'm concerned... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FOkSTVzEO0A
