Members Darn
You will not have them go after my poor, sweet, psychotic Wanda. I wish she were in The Avengers film. That movie needs more than two women.
Members Cheap21
I dont know why they went with Black Widow. Scarlet Johansen was already a weak choice and played abland character in Iron Man 2. I guess she's easier on the budget but she seems so out of place considering the rest of the male powerhouses. I was hoping for Ms. Marvel
Members Darn
She's hot. That's about it. I think BW had about 3 lines in all of Iron Man 2. BUT Joss Whedon knows how to write and direct strong female characters so I think they'll amp up her presence. You're right though, it's ridiculous to have no superpowered women in a superhero team movie. It should have been Janet or Wanda IMO.
Members DRW50
I think these movies are afraid of strong female characters, or they assume the audience is afraid of them. I have never seen Black Widow as an Avenger, to me she works best solo.
Members Darn
Hopefully The Hunger Games will change that mindset. You can have a female lead who kicks ass and still make money.
Members Vee
I think they just didn't have time to introduce a slew of new leads into Avengers - Natasha and Hawkeye were already established. Knowing Joss Whedon, I'm sure groundwork will be laid for the Wasp and whoever knows who else. I like Scarlett Johansson in certain things, fine actress, but I've never thought she was right for this, and I hate that she doesn't have an accent as Natasha. This is why Emily Blunt - who was originally wanted for the role - should've taken it; she could've done the accent, and you can believe she could kill you and not flinch. But she had some scheduling issue. Still, I'm going to give Scarlett a chance. I do think the Hulk recast is perfect. As for the Witch, again, I'm sorry, but Wanda has been [!@#$%^&*] crazy for decades. When she finally snapped and killed half the mutant race I was not surprised. Not to say Bendis' work is sheer brilliance, but I do like some of it, and I thought his treatment of Wanda's history was brutal but honest. I'm glad she's alive, but story-wise, the X-Men should've killed her for what she did. She's too dangerous to live. But as a reader, I'm thrilled she's back now. I do hope they bring her, Janet and Carol Danvers in next. I do expect to see Mockingbird next time, actually - Jeremy Renner's a big enough name, he'll get his story.
