Well, aren't BTR mainly tied to their fictional TV show? They exist as a pop group outside of it, but it seems like all roads lead back to their Nickelodeon show for them.

One Direction is manufactured too, but other than the UK X-Factor connection, they seem to have a bit more legitimacy as a mainstream pop group, hence why they're more successful and known.

Yes, BTR is unfortunately hindered by the television show. On one hand, it brings them a wider exposure and more money (I'd wager to guess they make more than 1D, or did before recently, at least), but on the other, it gives them a very juvenile image, to the point where even their attempts at being more mature are still a little weak. If the group had a life outside of Nick (which I don't think they would, unforutnately), they could probably do much better.

BTR and 1D are actually pals, and they've hung out together a lot, so the "war" that exists between the fanbases is stupid.

Nickelodeon seems horrible when it comes to promotion of their shows. It seems as if I saw their announcement that One Direction was coming to Nick but I don't recall seeing any date. I know that this show won't have that problem but they have a tendency to air new shows for maybe four or so episodes and then stop. Their viewers are pretty much left to figure out when the show is coming back on or whether it's been moved to a different timeslot.

It seems as if some of the shows on Nick belong on Teennick but that station isn't generally used for any original programming. Most of the shows they piick up seem to be already out of production except for Degrassi.

On the one hand, Nickelodeon helps talent get started but Disney seems to give their talent a bit more staying power overall. BTR will probably go for another season on Nick before they end up with one or more of them trying to go solo.

Their new album is out!

I am disappointed, was hoping for more pop uptempo tracks and maybe some dubstep that would help get them some more hits and be more than one hit wonder fads rather than some flip flopper ballads.

"Rock Me" is by far my favorite track. It's fresh, it's different and it's fun and catchy – just what I wanted. My other favorites (in no order) are the lead single, "C'mon, C'mon", "I Would", "They Don't Know About Us" and "Over Again", but as good as those songs are, they really don't compare to the heights on their debut. I don't find this album to be as consistent either, though removing "Little Things" which is easily the worst song would elevate that by so much.

Overall, I give this album a B (would be B minus but I hate giving in-between grades), down from the A grade I gave to Up All Night. This is a good album and if their label isn't full of idiots they might manage a radio hit or two, but I just feel like more time and effort should have gone into their make-or-break second album, especially since they let "One Thing" flop and ditched the potential lying in "Stole My Heart" and "Tell Me A Lie" in favor of jumping straight to this. If this album era flops (and I'm already preparing for the worst) I hope it'll encourage them to switch it up next time around instead of just producing more of the same and relying on their pre-existing stanbase. I'm aware that expecting a long-lasting career from 1D is just delusion, which is why I want the music to be as good as possible and the huge hits to be present before they inevitably fade and/or break up.

    • Yeah, not sure why Jack and Jen didn’t rush to Marlena - or even Carrie - to offer their condolences. A few flashbacks would've been a nice touch too. Instead, we got a whole episode of them talking about Chad and Abby? Come on. On the bright side, I loved Anna’s scenes with Marlena and Carrie - sweet and heartfelt, felt like a real 80s throwback.
    • Martin and Smitty were designed to avoid the stereotype of gay men sleeping around (which to an extent is true). If you recall Martin had a line about them not being open when Chelsea came to talk to him. The producers are walking a very fine line right now and it might not be popular to say but I can understand it. Establishing enough footing to ward off complaints will let them showcase gay characters more openly later.
    • The week was decent. They have started to rotate their stories and finally got a rhythm going. I disagree about them allowing every character to have a moment to shine though. Nicole really hasn't been given anything to do. I completely agree with all this. I adore Doug and hope he makes it through.

    • There was the one appearance in '96, but otherwise, that's correct as far as I know.

Question for the B&B group: I see @rsclassicfanforever has uploaded multiple seasons from Videoland  (in the folders that are to be put away). They are huge folders and difficult to download so I started breaking them down into months but I realized they are by season so for example, Season 4 spans from March 1990 to March 1991. Now I'm wondering where to actually place them, since we have the Full Episodes section divided by year, not seasons. And most of these seasons we already have in full, so these are duplicates. Not sure if it's necessary to keep the older versions. I could just make another new section for Seasons, so the main folders would be "Behind the Scenes and Interviews," "Clips," "Full Episodes," "Full Seasons," "Music CDs," and "photo archive Marquise" but I'm not sure that really makes sense. Also wondering since we have almost every full episode now if "Clips" can be deleted in its entirety, as it's nearly 300GB.
    • CBS moving Murder, She Wrote from Sunday to Thursday was straight up sabotage. Les Moonves knew exactly what he was doing.
    • I sure hope you’re right. The lack of sets is maddening!
