Wow, every shot of Whitney made me a little sadder. She sounds in pretty good voice. Did they sing His Eye is on the Sparrow in the original Sparkle? If so, cool, if not, I wish they would crack open a hymnal and stop wearing that song out in movies.

Tika's wig!

That redboneded dude sure has an interesting look we don't see a lot of from Hollywood.

I will definitely check this out, it's been so long since I've been to the movies and this seems like a good Friday night outing with my group of cousins.

I'm sure Jordin will do great - but I was always curious to see how this would have turned out with Aaliyah, and even more curious to see how it would have turned out with Raven Symone.

That one and Jesus Loves Me are pretty much the official black hymns of Hollywood. Of course, any movie that features white people in the south gets Amazing Grace.

Whitney looks so good in this. It breaks my heart.

I like how this looks, it looks liked they've really beefed up the story, especially for the mother and Whitney looks like she did a good job with the role.

This looks fun! The formula has been done a million times, but the cast looks like they really turn in some good stuff.

Oh lord. A hot effin mess.

Same here, because every s--t is so expensive in NYC. I'm saving myself for a late viewing of The Hunger Games.

This looks good, not great but good. I've been in the mood for musicals this past week after finally watching "Dreamgirls." Maybe I'll still be in the mood in August.

That's funny, because Dreamgirls is probably the last movie I saw in Manhattan, in a packed theatre at Lincoln Square.
