GH: Discussion for the Month of April

I admit at least Connie in the mirror had me watching though it's getting close to those DID limbo scenes Ron loved on OLTL where all the alters argue with each other in that surreal mind area that looked like a cheap porno S&M dungeon.

I'm done.

It was strangely filmed too--when she'd knock against the glass you could tell she wasn't knocking against anything real

LOL...you mean this place? Im waiting for it. The stuff today seemed so reminiscent of Tess vs Jess

Today's episode was embarrassing. The writing sucked... and I started feeling sorry for poor Kelly Sullivan. She's a poor "actress" to begin with... but then to be burdened with such horribly written scenes under equally horrible direction... she was destined to fail. I mean, really... Connie locking Kate in a mirror?

I think people are a bit unfair towards her--apparently she's a much stronger Broadway actress for whatever reason, but really today nobody could have made it work.

Having Kate locked up in a mirror represented a new low, even for Ron. Please cancel this s#it ASAP.

Today's episode of The Revolution was light years better.

You said the same thing about Natalie Hall and her horrid portrayal of Aunt Colby on AMC. I'm noticing a running theme, here. These modern day Broadway chicks simply aren't cut out for television drama. Maybe if Kate vs. Connie were done on a Broadway stage, Sullivan's over the top theatrics would've played better. However, the Prospect Studios ain't no Broadway stage... so tone that mess DOWN!

Robin Mattson used to do the same exact thing on AMC -- playing Janet vs. Mirror Janet -- and it was never over the top. It was subtle, dry, nuanced... but not "guffaw, guffaw!"

I really just wish that Megan Ward was still in the role. And if they HAD to recast I wish they had case a better actress, like Maura West.

Natalie Hall is very annoying on tv. I caught her on Pretty Little Liars one day when my friend made me watch it with her. She was bad there too! These theater actresses need to take some acting classes for tv acting.

This would be beneath Megan Ward. And I say this not even being a Megan Ward fanboy. I just know that what she did with Kate Howard and what this girl is doing with Kate Howard are MILES apart... and this whole Mirror Connie thing wouldn't shouldn't be a consideration.

IA. I would cringe at the thought of her being relegated to playing this material. Its almost as if RC is making a joke out of KS with these OTT theatrics. The character is a complete joke now and this is fit for bargain bin Kate, not the original

Ben Hendrickson was another theater transplant who never quite learned to bring it down to the TV cameras. He was still playing to the last row at the end. I loved him, so it's not about liking or not liking but the transition from stage to TV can't be an easy one. Movies are hard enough, but TV is a much smaller medium.

Exactly. To your point, I'm not saying theater actresses are unable to do screen work -- whether it's television or movies -- but they need the tools to be able to act appropriately for both. Kelly Sullivan has not been showing that -- AT ALL!
