It's reported that he died this morning from a heart attack at the age of 66

Oh my God! So young, so sad. I used to love watching The Monkees during summer vacation when I was a kid. More recently, I've been catching it on Antenna TV.

I love the show, too... I was Monkees FREAK in high school. Iv'e seen then three times, 1986, 1987, and 1997... at the 1997 concert, I was daring and threw my underwear at Peter Tork (women do this all the time, at every concert, so I figured i'd give it a shot) At the end of the song, Peter picks up my underwear, walks over to Davy (who was always considered the big heartthrob) holds them up in front of him, and gloats... "look at THIS..... they ALL want ME!!" It brought down the house. I had front row seats that time.

That is hilarious! They were on The View just last year. I think Peter was the only one missing, or was it Mike?

I'm sure the press will get a reaction from Maureen McCormick.

Sad to hear this. He always seemed so youthful, for many years after the show ended, and he was the one who seemed to enjoy it most, whereas a few of the others were always a little embarrassed.

The Monkees had some brilliant pop songs. We don't get those today.

I could never make it through an entire episode of that show. Just didn't appeal to me.

But sad nonetheless.

I haven't ever watched it either, just listened to some of their songs.

They were also in a fun episode of My Two Dads.

He, Peter & Mickey were on an eppy of Boy Meets World together, it's one of my favorite eppy's. Davy was always my favorite Monkee RIP

I used to watch the Monkees in repeats and he will always be an honored inhabitant of the Brady Bunch universe. That's a real shame he died in his 60s of a heart attack. I wonder if this was self induced from a life of bad eating habits. RIP
