Administrator Toups Posted October 12, 2012 Author Administrator Share Posted October 12, 2012 I think maybe it must be because these episodes are still some of MAB's breakdowns mixed with Josh rewriting them? Though I don't understand why Josh and MAB would have their own seperate credit-page - why not credit them together. And why was the show credits different from the actualy script credits? Shouldn't they be the same since the editor of the episode just has to look at the script and type in, or copy/paste, the names? Why can't things be easier? An EP should not be credited for episodes they didn't produce, which is what has happened here. And a HW's first credited episode should be their first full breakdown. If a HW is rewriting some breakdowns and there's a mixture of old/new stuff, then they should be credited together (unless it's just for an episode or two, then the old HW should just be credited). Members Y&RWorldTurner
Credits are the exact same way on Monday's US episode. Maria still listed as EP and HW after Griffith, No JFP, and both Milstein and Boyd still listed.
Administrator Toups Posted October 12, 2012 Author Administrator Share Posted October 12, 2012 I wonder why JFP isn't being credited. I think I'm going to put an asterisk for her and say something like, "Jill went uncredited for early-to-mid October episodes."
Members Y&RWorldTurner
Brent Boyd claims it's contractual, and Maria's name will continue to appear in the credits for "a while longer." Maria was probably fired long before her cycle was up. https://twitter.com/...187856915763200
Administrator Toups Posted October 13, 2012 Author Administrator Share Posted October 13, 2012 So MAB has in her contract that she can be the only one listed as EP, during her cycle, since JFP isn't listed? Stupid contracts.
Members Y&RWorldTurner
Probably something along those lines, Maria probably had an iron-clad contract Billy helped her with. I wonder when her cycle is up though, "a little while longer" is too vague, and I can't imagine Jill being too pleased about this. LOL! At the very least, why can't Jill also be listed separately as an Executive Producer? Maria must have had a very unusual contract.
Administrator Toups Posted October 13, 2012 Author Administrator Share Posted October 13, 2012 That's what I don't get. You gotta have a massive ego to have in your contract that you can be the only one listed as EP.
Members juppiter
It's also just weird. Why would you even want your name attached to work you had no hand in producing?
Members frequentsoapfan
So she can give herself credit for decent epis.
Members Wales2004
Is soap writing mainly just about having a plot lead up to some grand confrontation/showdown scene with no real payoff except that after X amount of time one character gets to confront another? I cannot think of the last time I saw a complete story play out on GH (not involving an easy out death or confrontation that was momentarily interesting but otherwise forgettable). I cannot think of anything Ron Carlivati wrote on OLTL that would explain why he seemingly thinks he's so good. And Brent Boyd's good episode was, the more I think of it, a series of showdown scenes that didn't advance any storyline but gave the illusion of something major happening by relying on emotional reactions. Doesn't letting the same character, such as Phyllis, get away with everything all the time eventually wear on a soap and possibly drive viewers away a little at a time? Members Y&RWorldTurner
Michael Eilbaum directs tomorrow's US episode of Y&R - he worked with Jill most recently at Hollywood Heights.
Members Soapsuds
I never would have thought ME would direct at Y&R. He is an awful director. I hated his directing on AW and ATWT.
Members Y&RWorldTurner
I think he's still directing at GH, so he probably freelances.
Members dragonflies
Speaking of her name still being in the credits.... http://www.soapopera...ts-all-new-guys
Administrator Toups Posted October 16, 2012 Author Administrator Share Posted October 16, 2012 Hmm.....MAB says her name shouldn't be in the credits which contradicts what Boyd said. This just gets more confusing. LOL
