February 5, 201213 yr Member Is there a normal time frame between purchase and arrival? Ready for my set to arrive ... lol It's a 5 day period. I ordered mine on Thursday evening. They shipped on Friday and I received it on Tuesday. I think it took longer for the ATWT DVDs because they werent prepared with all the big orders for the sets. Just got my DVDs!!! Yayyy!!! Starting up Secrets & Scandals now. Will post my thoughts later. I LOVE THIS (these P&G DVDs and discussing them)!!! You started with the best one. I just love the Nola one. Lisa Brown was amazing on that episode. The ending with Nola was chilling.
February 5, 201213 yr Member Just saw the Reva/Solita episode. I guess I have forgotten this story because I thought Sonni and Solita were two different persons. As the story unfolded on the episode they are one in the same person?? I don't recall. Seeing Daniel P. as Alan was weird...lol...I expected to Chris Beneaur.....His Alan takes a lot to get use to like it did during his original run. I prefered Ron Rains over Daniel. The only time I liked Daniel was during the time Roger returned for Blake's wedding. Speaking of....first Blake...damn...I remember hating first Blake....I am glad she left or was recasted.....Carl Evans...lol...he looks to twinkish....lol I loved Alex's house...the living room and the stairs leading to the upper floor was one of my favorites sets of GL. I was digging Reva's hair back then....lol Rusty..mmmmm...love me some Terrell Anthony...so hot....liked seeing him here and on the Reva wedding...nice mention of Roxie on the episode. Great cliffhanger...now I want to see the next episode. Now watching the Roger/Holly episode...damn...good show...loved this Ed the most...I hated that they fired him because he wasnt sexy enough...instead we got Peter Simon who wasnt even hot and was balding at an early age...ugh.....
February 5, 201213 yr Member I think Solita committed suicide as a teenager because of her father's abuse, so Sonni took on Solita as an alternate personality.
February 5, 201213 yr Member I think Solita committed suicide as a teenager because of her father's abuse, so Sonni took on Solita as an alternate personality. Oh that's right.....was there another soap that copied this or is it the this one that was only done?
February 5, 201213 yr Member Years later on GH, I think they said Kevin took on the personality of his evil brother Ryan, as they'd both been abused as children and then Kevin's father took him away, leaving Ryan with the abusive mother.
February 5, 201213 yr Member I think Solita committed suicide as a teenager because of her father's abuse, so Sonni took on Solita as an alternate personality. yes, I think Will was Solita's bf and he studied to be a priest. Solita walked in on him and good girl Sonni in bed together (I think Will thought she was Solita) and despite the betrayal, Solita got Sonni out of there as their father was on his way. Thinking Solita was the one who disgraced the family, he whipped her all the way home and may have continued once they got home with Sonni listening in from her bedroom. Later or the next day she found Solita killed herself and the guilt caused her to take on Solita's personality.
February 5, 201213 yr Member It seemed to be such a dark story - I'm a little surprised they got away with it.
February 5, 201213 yr Member I finished the Villains and Vixens disc which was overall very good. I didn't like the "Slut of Springfield" episode. I l iked seeing Carrie Nye, who I enjoyed as during the Carrie/Marrianne Curruthers story. I also liked a character named Claire. The Reva stuff bored me completely. I've yet to see anything from the 80s that I liked involvedin Reva. The Sonni/Solita episode was very good, but I Can tell the Pam Long era wouldn't be a favorite of mine for this show. Now I've moved onto the Celebrations disc and watched the 50th anniversity episode. I LOVED the tribute to Charita Bauer and I would love to see more of her character. One thing I noticed from the 50s episodes I have, is that she's such a strong character and doesn't seem like a matriach. She seems more like a character that simply aged into that role, like a Katherine Chancellor type. I wish more matriachs were like that. I want to see more of the stuff following her amputation. Her work was so powerful in what little they showed. Also, having now seen all three Blake's, I have to say the original is terrible. Just so miscast and seemed so dated as Roger and Holly's daughter. Considering how important those two characters are, they should've tried harder. I just don't understand. The blonde hair is also ridiculous. The original looked older than Holly in their scenes. The second Blake seemed nice, but I didn't see enough of her to judge.
February 5, 201213 yr Member Just finished watching the Holly and Roger episode....great episode....so what did Roger have on Alan?? And who were the ladies the mystery caller mentioned to Alan? I loved these years of GL and no wonder Douglas Marland was HW. I remember my mom and I prefering GL more than any other soap during this time. It's funny how once Marland left and went to ATWT...that soap became my all time favorite soap. I still think GL and ATWT during 1983 were the two best soaps on the air. Glad to see GL was in the top 4 soaps during Marland's run. Lots of familiar names in the credits after the episode. I hope we get more GL episodes featuring the Marland years I agree Chris B. Charita Bauer was such a classic actress. She could do so much with so little.
February 5, 201213 yr Member OMG Darcy!! I floved her on GL. It's nice to see her again. And Lujack...man VI looked so cute back then...too bad I found him less attractive as he aged. Watching the Reva Slut of Springfield episode...lol Edited February 5, 201213 yr by Soapsuds
February 5, 201213 yr Member Exactly Charita aged into the role... Roger knew everything that Alan did, like help Roger. Elizabeth Dennehy was hired to play Blake Lindsey, the show hadn't decided to make her Christina until Chris Bernau got sick, GL contacted Michael Zaslow asking him if he would like to play Alan (and to that Zas said what? You could maybe think of a way to bring back Roger again...and Blake became Christina...)
February 5, 201213 yr Member There was a long, complicated storyline involving Alan conspiring with various people (most of whom ended up dead) to make the courts think Elizabeth had had an affair, which meant he got custody of Phillip. Roger knew about all this. Then when he "died", Diane knew, and this is what ultimately drove her over the edge.
February 6, 201213 yr Member Soapsuds, Jane Marie and Janice Stafford were the characters mentioned by Alan's mysterious caller. They were sisters and Jane Marie turned out to be Morgan's mother Jennifer Richards. Jennifer and Alan later turned out to be the parents of Amanda Wexler (a storyline later undone by another writing regime).
