OLTL: Hated (possibly most) character returns

Precisely. Even if I didn't think Stacy (and CH) was hell on Earth to watch, I'd still question bringing her and others back while bringing back the likes of Michael Storm (Larry), Marilyn Chris (Wanda), Anthony Call (Herb), Ellen Holly and Al Freeman, Jr. (Carla and Ed), and even Brynn Thayer (Jenny) and Shelly Burch (Delila) are just flat-out impossibilities.

IMO, the only real hard "get" would have to be Judith Light (Karen), and that's just because I don't always believe her to be sincere whenever she says how "grateful" she was for her time on OLTL. To me, as terrific as she was and is as an actor, she seems way less sincere than, say, Julianne Moore (ex-Frannie, ATWT), who did come back to her show when it was cancelled, despite a high-profile career and, no doubt, busy schedule.

Julianne was no doubt sincere in coming back, but I think she is also friends with Noelle Beck, who was on ATWT at the end. I wonder if Judith has spoken to anyone from OLTL in years.

I think Stacey was a disgusting character, no matter who played her. She was, essentially, a high-camp figure dropped into a story about a dying child. The show never cared about Shane, and they likely assumed viewers didn't either, so he just sat there, dying, while Stacey swanned around town with a bag of blood. It was bizarre, and offputting. Her backstory was not only ridiculous (obsessing over a man for over a decade because he picked up her book bag), it also reminded viewers how ridiculous and pathetic Gigi's backstory was.

Crystal Hunt had a few nice moments with Sky, but really all she did was reinforce how completely and utterly worthless in every way Rex and Gigi were, and how much they killed the show. It wasn't until that story that the hype for them - including being named one of the best couples of the year (which is the definition of faint praise anyway...) - died off, and has never returned.

I didn't mind Stacy, but it was definitely Kim that made her more enjoyable. I much prefer her to Gigi and Rex - we were definitely supposed to hate Stacy but I just hated Gigi/Rex more...

I just wonder why she will be back - flashbacks ? It can't even be "the switch" flashbacks because then Stacy had Gigi's face....

    • And sadly I think that’s the trivia Both Jeanne Cooper and Eric Braeden went with for years and years. Lol
    • But people were hating so bad on amc and the final year and the ratings sucked. Business wise they made the right call. Oltl who even gained some ratings back and weren’t they higher as GH at one point is a decision and never understood.
    • Ann Williams was the first Maggie Powers on The Doctors but left to have a baby. Maggie was successfully recast so Ann picked up the role of Eunice (Jo's sister on Search for Tomorrow) and played that role for 10 years before being killed of in 1976. That led to her role of Margo on EON.
    • Looking at those totals it seems most contract actors are on a 1 or 2 week average guarantee. I assume contracts are still operating on 13 week cycles so you would have to know the particular actors contract starting date to work out their guarantee. The question remains as to what actors listed as contract are actually recurring? Bryton ?
    • Yep, that scene was at the conclusion of the Derek Thurston vs George Packard storyline, when Kay decided neither of them should run Chancellor.  By the time she put Victor in charge, Victor had been on the show for months & months with his Rolls Royce, his ranch, and Newman Enterprises.  SONY released some Y&R "trivia cards" in the late 1980s, and one of the questions was "who brought Victor Newman to Genoa City?" The answer on the back of the card is "Kay Thurston, to run Chancellor Industries", and it's a wrong answer lol.
    • I think someone said it did exist, but I can't remember.
    • The bit with the scarf reminds me of the fabled stuffed animal scene with Rick and Phillip. (That wasn't debunked, was it?)
    • Ohh, interesting. I instantly gravitated towards her in that episode. Of course I'm already hooked and want to know why she was trying to poison that older lady, but then how did the older lady know to switch the mugs so Susan drank her own poison...  but I have too many timelines I'm watching right now haha.  Oh, Bolger is definitely hot. I didn't realize he was on GL haha. I knew him from OLTL and other primetime stuff.
    • This is a effin shame. Eff Trump and eff the bastards that enable him.
