GH: Classic Thread

Ingle was more of a mix of a buffoon and a kind grandpa, which can work in certain characters but didn't fit what they kept insisting Edward and the Qs were when Guza would paint them as being worse than the mob and very bad people.

They did a beautiful job with Edward giving the cure to Emma, and Ingle did some of his finest work as he was dying. That softer approach was more natural to his talents so I'm glad he did get that moment.

For all my issues with FV's preferences, I will always be grateful for how he has handled sendoffs and tributes to GH's vets, starting with John Ingle. The story his family shared about that day of taping - Ingle's last request, to act on the show one more time - will always stay with me. IIRC he was wheeled in or out with a line of well-wishers with the cast and crew applauding and talking to him.

Agreed. It was a beautiful last set of scenes for Ingle. I appreciate the memorial wall, and Audrey’s final appearances. They even acknowledged Gail and Lee Baldwin, and we got to see Serena again. I have plenty of faults with Frank, but his respect for how important those people were to the show and to fans is special.

David Lewis was the only Edward to me. After years of watching him, I just could not get used to John Ingle in the role, at all.

And Jed Allan??

I remember Jed Allan as Don Craig on Days and as Steve Sanders' father on 90210. I don't remember watching him as Edward? But my viewing of GH during his era was very intermittent, so if I saw him, it didn't leave an impression.

It's weird and disconcerting (for me) every time in the present day, when they show the dead hospital staff wall photos. John Ingle just feels wrong to me. Nothing against him personally, he just wasn't Edward to me. But of course I get why GH shows Ingle's portrait. I just wish it was David Lewis.
