Well, not new, but yes - they are remaking the classic BBC series House of Cards for American audiences with him in the Ian Richardson role as a scheming, murderous politician. That's how I knew this deal was viable from the start.

I didn;t know much about the Spacey deal. Here is a link

Its interesting that Netflix is licensing this not producing it. Which of course keeps costs down. Also they are doing no advertising but relying on subscriber suggestions on Netflix based on viewing preferences. Which also means they are saving a ton of money on advertising. Smart move. They have ordered 24 episodes and are not going to release them weekly like a TV show but in groups of shows because thats how people on Netflix watch in general.

It's interesting how the same information gets repackaged. Willey says on TV that they got proposals and now everybody has something to think about. Deadline translates that as "Susan Lucci is mulling over an offer" which, is true but sounds so much!more!dramatic. Technically everybody is mulling over an offer now.

I think they probably just offered something different to Susan, knowing her status at the show. Or approached her first and it's just now getting out.

I really wish all of these "reports" would just go away and we get something 100% official from Prospect Park. Not "according to this source..." or "according to this article" or "according to ...." ... I'm growing really tired of the conflicting reports LOL

I don't see Budig or Mathison continuing, even if they are offered what they make now. Budig will probably go to GH at some point or do primetime work on ABC. Mathison has his recurring gig on Good Morning America, and I'm sure he can find hosting gigs. Mathison seems pretty loyal to AMC, but I can see him thinking he can still strike out on his own; same for Budig.

I really hope Lorraine Broderick is writing one hell of a pickup for the show come January, because I fear that AMC will lose almost all of it's current cast. Not that I would miss a lot of them (Ryan, Kendall, Zach, Greenlee can all go away for a long time), but still ... they've already lost heavy hitters in Debbi Morgan and Jacob Young (though JR can be recast, IMO). Walt Willey and Vincent Irizarry seem indifferent and unsure at the moment. The younger ones are all expendable IMO. Natalie Hall, Trent Garrett, Denise Vasi ... they can all go.

A friend of mine suggested that all these various updates are people's way of trying to keep the audience engaged out of fear that we'll all just move on.

But I have to admit to wondering how much of PP's talent budget has been set aside for SuLu. She's probably "worth" two or three other actors. Frons has no input on this right?

I hope people do realize proposal and contract are 2 diff things. A proposal is who we are what we are going to do and what we can do for you kind of thing and I watched WW on a morning show in Chicago yesterday before all these reports came out and he talked about it(no one reported that appearence by the way) and he said everyone got a proposal and that PP was asking everyone to review the content and send them feedback. Now they might be negotiating separately with Lucci because they feel they have to have her.

I hope Frons doesn't good lord otherwise he will have these people convinced Budig and Mathison are must haves

I think WW is on the fence but I'm pretty sure VI is out. The younger characters could make an interested show with some good writing. I think that AMC has a pretty solid younger (20-30) set.

While I kinda see her just coming on every so often too, unfortunately (though maybe hse'd agree to, say a three month initial full time deal to try to lure viewers), I do feel it's worth pointing out that the last few years SL has seemed to, oddly, become more and more loyal to AMC, in the way she talks about it, etc...

Yeah. I have to admit, I think Susan will continue on, in some aspect. It will be a HUGE outcry if she leaves. Though I wouldn't blame her if she did. However, internet or not, it's steady work (not that she needs it), she loves the show and the fans, and if they can nearly match her pay, why wouldn't she?

I think after Project Orpheus, though I love David and VI, I think moving on from David is best. I kinda agree I don't see Irizarry doing it. I'd love to be wrong though, but where is there to go for him? Honestly? David and Liza petered out. They don't seem interesting in pursuing David and Krystal again.

Cady McClain seems to support the idea, but will she move on? Maybe not without MEK?

AMC is really in a bind in terms of cast. Man. Ouch.

I also agree that if given better material, the younger crowd COULD be interesting. They should try and keep them, but would even they stay?
