Yes, it happened, although it was actually March 25-26 in 2010 when Cafe Russe made its exit. Ridge and Brooke had dinner with Taylor and Whip at Cafe Russe as it prepared to close down. Taylor and Whip left and went back to Whip's place, where Whip proposed, and Taylor, claiming she was finally over Ridge, accepted. (Of course, we saw a year later how untrue that was during the Berry incident). Meanwhile, Ridge and Brooke stayed behind and closed down the place.

I guess the Cafe Russe set was just too elaborate to break out for infrequent use under B&B's two episode/day taping schedules, with them trying to use the same sets back to back days to save money.

Insomnia was also a hangout for the younger set for a while, when Macy and Grant bought the place, late 1997-early 1998. Katie worked there as a waitress, and Amber, Rick and CJ used to hang out there around the time Jacob Young first came on as Rick. That set came and went over the years until it became Dayzee's, although who knows how often we'll see it now that Kristolyn Lloyd is only recurring and is headed east for work.

They also had a country western bar in late 1996-early 1997, the Canyon Country Club, but that disappeared after it served its purpose in the Taylor/Ridge/Brooke/Grant quadrangle.

B&B has always kept their sets stored away well, in case they have to be reused. They have a few that stay up all the time - the Forrester mansion and the FC executive floor used to be kept "up" all the time back in the day, although I'm not sure if that's true today when the mansion is seen less frequently. The others come and go as needed for the story, although they try to use a specific set for multiple episodes these days to keep from having to break down and put up sets too often.

I guess they could have just kept the Cafe Russe set "in the box" and just not used it anymore, so it was kind of nice that they actually worked its exit into the story.

Il Giardino

The shelf with the plates - which they always put up - is actually recycled from that Mexican restaurant set I was talking earlier about BTW.

B&B has always done a great job at recycling sets. The first production designer Sy Tomashoff really learned his craft at Dark Shadows to make great looking sets, yet operate on a tight budget and hence reuse as much as possible.

I spent most of the weekend rereading the tenth anniversary coffee table B&B book. I was wondering if anyone knew who played some small parts in the early years. If anyone can help, I'd appreciate it.

Dr. Bailey[1988] Beth's doctor in the Mastectomy story.

Dr. Cameron[1988] Caroline's therapist

Dr. Schnell[1989] Plastic surgeon Thorne took Deveney Dickson to.

Ramone[1988, or 89] Associate Nick Preston at Spencer Publications.

Juanita[1993] Pregnant employee at Spectra that helped Sally convince Jack she was pregnant.

Geri[1995or96] Prisoner that attacked Sheila with Ulma[spice Williams} in prison or the looney bin.

Roberta[1997] Head of the Design Academy.

Again, thanks if anyone has any info.

Watching Clarke in that promo something makes me wonder if Bill Bell wanted Clarke to be B&B's own Jack Abbott/Terry Lester style. I know this sounds as blasphemy but there's something so rascal about early Clarke and the actor's performance.

    • I absolutely loved the last few episodes—devoured them! If Trisha and Ambyr’s performances aren’t Emmy-worthy, I don’t know what is. I wasn’t bothered by the lawyer girl not being at the gala from the start, or the grandkids being absent, or Vanessa being MIA. It just goes to show how unnecessarily huge the Dupree family is. And like Toups said, you can’t cram the entire cast into a single episode. Oh and the cue when Leslie was having that fantasy was epic, very DAYS-like. They should keep it and develop it   Minor nitpicks: Yeah, Ted seriously needs a recast—been saying that since day one. I still don’t know where he stands, and he just comes off as a generic nice guy. Not having Ted and Bill share a single scene since the show started? Huge missed opportunity. And not having Leslie get anywhere near Bill in one of her wigs? Another big miss. It really weakened the impact of her big reveal about Bill’s involvement. Now it just feels a bit like fan fiction. I’m totally confused by Vanessa and Doug’s “arrangement.” One moment it seems like they’re in an open relationship, and the next Vanessa acts completely shocked when Doug so much as hints at her “distractions.” Huh? Can anyone explain what’s going on there?
    • You’d think he would’ve learned after the way Sprina took off.  I hope we get a proper Emma/Gio/Trina/Kai quad, as friends, romantic rivals, etc. In the few scenes that the four of them have had together, I felt like there was a natural chemistry between all of them, similar to the way that Cam/Spencer/Trina/Joss was, in the beginning.  And, it would be a lot better than all this stuff with Kai’s surgery.
    • Hooray we made the exact same critique to Londonscribe!!!!!
    • I don't think they had any idea who he was this time last year. I think they were keeping their options very open. Same with totally dropping the Trina romance that was spoiled for him in the mags once FV clearly took a shine to him. Frank's priorities are bright and blazing in one color. I do think Gio and Emma seem to have worked out given that she is very dry and sarcastic and he is like a hot golden retriever, but I'd still play the field or explore quads with both with very different people - Emma with a scheming young man (of color), Gio with possibly Trina or someone else, or even a boy. Then maybe put them back together, who knows. But of course none that will happen.

    • He definitely got lost in the shuffle last year. First, they were implying that he was Drew’s son, then he was nothing more than just Violet’s bff

And then they changed him to being Dante and Brook Lynn’s son, which was clunky at first but I’m enjoying the storyline now.
    • GM is adorable, charming and fun onscreen despite months of nothing to do until recently, and has a bodacious bod. I'm not cosigning the show or this story - I haven't watched a full episode in over a month - but I think we're all taking the small victories in 2025 at this point. I'm open to testing this theory!
