Maybe it's just me, but I'm not really into these one-artist song nights. It seems like they could get a bigger variety with just a broad theme night, maybe rock night instead of Queen songs. I'm hoping the next few weeks will let the contestants have a bigger song choice.

Anyway, didn't think Kellie did too bad with BR, even though I was definentely worried when I found out she was going to do that.

Kellie did well after all. But I agree about the dumb thing. I gave her a little credit when KR first mentioned it but afer tonight, and that whole "On PAPER?!" thing, I literally said aloud "You fake-ass !@#$%^&*]" while watching the farce.

There is NO way she hasn't heard that expression. And then to follow up with the whole, "I don't understand Simon's accent" as a way to cover up her fakeness...well, it was just appalling.

Even so, I still love her.

As for the others,

Ace was annoying.

Bucky was okay but nothing to write home about.

Chris was good but is definitely self-indulgent and thinks he's da bomb--and has become the BIGGEST 'divo' on the show because of it.

Elliot was good.

Paris was good, I guess.

And Taylor was good.

What was with Simon's "Are you drunk?" comment? He must really not like Taylor!

Ew. What a horrible night. They should just go with a general "rock night" instead of picking one artist or band to focus on.

They all sucked, more or less.

Bucky - I hate his mumbling. Ugh. He's got to go.

Katharine - Hot. She did well, but was pitchy and off at times.

Paris - Another hot one. Same as Katharine though. Good but a bit boring.

Elliot - He was okay. A kind of forgettable performance.

Chris - Sucked ass tonight. He was downright bad and seemed to channel Bucky in the not being able to understand you vocals.

Kellie - The dumb hick act has GOT TO GO. She sucks and I hate she's still there.

Ace - He wasn't too bad actually  lol. Yeah, I'm taking my temperature now cause I probably have a fever. The song was SO WRONG but he did the best he could.

Taylor - Yay. He did well tonight. FINALLY. Taylor is back and it's about time.

Hell must of frozen over cause I'm in Taylor's corner now.

My predictions for the bottom three? I really have no clue but I'm gonna say Elliot's out.

AI really needs to start having broader themes because these one artist themes must be so limiting to the singers. I also heard Prince was gonna appear in the next few weeks but when he told the show he would not work with the singers they said they weren't gonna have him appear. I heard this on a local radio stations. Anyway, on to tonight:

Bucky-Ok but nothing great. Based on how everyone else did, he will probably be bottom 3. He has improved though and you can understand the lyrics better when he sings.

Ace-Horrible. Last week I actually liked him because he stopped being Costantine-like and he continues that this week but his singing and performance as a whole was horrible. Everything was a total mess-he should go hom and he will espescially since he has been in the bottom twice already. Although a revolt against Simon from the voters could save him.

Kellie-Yes the "dumb" act is getting old but her performance last week and tonight were really good. I thought she would bomb tonight but she worked it out. I loved the whole eerie beginning and I felt that if we didn't have to deal with the whole niave country girl act I would have loved her.

Chris-The ego is getting way too big and this is coming from someone who loves him. Good performance but he needs to tone it down a bit and continue changing things up. He showed he could sing other things last week and he needs to continue that because I can see others getting sick of him belting out the hard rock stuff.

Katherine-Simon was right. She was so close to one of those AI shining moments and she would have had it if it weren't for a few pitch problems. She looked great and did an excellent job. I think she needs to pick a similar song next week and make it perfect and for me that will cement her place in the finals along with Chris (my two picks from day one).

Elliot-Much better then last week. Good vocals and alot of fun to watch. Loved him tonight.

Taylor-Usually I hate his dancing and the last few weeks he toned it down and lost his identity. I was afraid when he said he was gonna go back to himself tonight because I didn't want the whole 'Taylor is having fits again" performance but he did great. He lmoved with the music and had good vocals. He is growing on me and he did great tonight. If he keeps doing what he is doing and doesn't go all crazy on the stage he may make some noise in the weeks to come.

Paris-Just ok for me. There were points that she did excellent but, like last week, her voice was way too deep for the song. It just seemed a little off in spots and there were times when I wondered if she was uncomfortable like she seemed last week or was just singing it the way she wanted. I guess I am on the fence with her like last week but I could totally see her in the bottom 3 again like last week.

My bottom 3 is Bucky, Ace, and Paris since everyone else was very good. I could totally see another shocker though but I do think the person who goes this week will be the right person to go given that most singers brought it this week.

I didn't see Bucky's performance..so I can't comment on him..

Ace was alright..he's done better. But I still love him.

Kellie- I didn't see a bit of country in her performance..aside from the obvious accent. She sounded great...I was a little scared at first when I heard she was doing BR..I was like "No Kellie...don't sing that...damnit." But she actually did it well. I'm proud. :D

Chris- He has done better. That's all I can say.

Katharine- Looved her tonight, she sounded amazing and looked beautiful AS ALWAYS.

Elliott- AWESOME. I love Elliott so much, he's so refreshing. He can really sing..and he chose a GREAT song to do..he was FANTASTIC. I love him! :D

Taylor- My boy! I loved that he was back to himself again..dancing like a maniac..and I don't give a [!@#$%^&*] what Simon says to him,...he's obviously jealous of Tay's moves. *sigh* I love Taylor.

Paris- Annoys the hell out of me. She was ok. bleghhh

Bucky - LOVED HIM! Keep it up, Buck!

Ace - Sucked. What the hell was he thinking picking this song? Time for him to GO. SERIOUSLY! GOODBYE! DO NOT LET THE DOOR HIT YOU ON YOUR ASS!

Kellie - Wow. Actually good! Again!

Chris - He has been W A Y better. He was just screaming tonight. *YAWN.*

Katherine - Looked like a million bucks. But she's been better.

Elliot - Good!

Taylor - I'm so sick of his sh!t! Simon's right. Taylor looks like an ass. Enough already.

Paris - Amazing. The Star of this evening! Best performance of the night by a M I L E . Looked AMAZING! Sounded even better.

Umm....I seriously wonder why people like Kellie and Ace are around. They aren't very good, do nothing but ham it up for the camera. Their votes IMHO are based on their looks (and let's face it, Kellie isn't the prettiest) and that's not what the show should be about. I didn't mind Ace (or Kellie for that matter) last week but I see it was a momentary lapse in judgement.

You rock Ryan.

I absolutely agree with you. I had a long vent to a friend tonight about American Idol

I'm just over it. Talent is sacrified because of how hot or cute or ditzy a person is. It's ridiculous. S1 is a prime example of TALENT staying through to the end (although some choices were questionable). S3 started this trend with the infamous Fantasia/Latoya/Jennifer bottom three.

I really do question what kind of fanbases are voting because last week's bottom three NEVER should of happened.

I predict another shocker tomorrow, actually.

    • Jean Hackney was awful and that lead to Ben's exit story which sucked. I liked Ben/Val together. Val's love for Ben was that of a grown woman moving on with her life and Ben's love for Val made him willingly decide to raise another man's children as his own.
    • It wasn't just a GL thing, it was an 80s thing. Opulent party scenes on soaps were very big back then. Even in regular episodes where people are just going to dinner they're dressed up like they're going to see royalty.
    • Just started the May 27 episode and first thing I see is that Willow got an ugly haircut since hte last time i watched   I dont have the context for how everthing went down but I know its all Lulu's fault which make her a bish for what she did to Gio
    • I'm pretty sure he was. But point taken. GL really had a thing for masked and costumed balls/parties in the '80's. Everyone looks fabulous, but those poor costume designers.
    • Still here ^^ Come on Prime Video, it's due to bring it back!
    • Got through the eighth season, and it was... painful.

    • I agree 100% with both you and Mitch64.  Soaps have been going further and further off-course since 1981. TPTB just don't have a fundamental understanding of what makes soap fans so loyal. I'd love to be on a writing team with both of you.  Maybe we could put together a real soap opera, and show people what its all about...
    • They weren't in town, but Fletcher worked at the paper (and we saw anniversary Journal headlines for the 50th, although I don't remember if Roger was one of them), and I'd think Alex would have at least heard of him due to the damage he did to Spaulding only a few years before her return to the fold. I know I have to remember it's not real life, of course.
    • YES. The videos being uploaded to Spauldingfield are almost to the point where Alan is reintroduced. They're already talking about the guy he pretends to be, and yes, he returns at a masked ball. In fact, that masked ball is almost beat for beat the same as the masked ball where Alex was introduced! Get a new schtick. Before the Kobe era, that's pretty much what they did. Characters would just show up. Maybe other characters would talk about them for a while--the Chamberlains, Tony, Maureen, Andy, Kelly, Carrie--but then they would just appear. When Hope came back, she simply knocked on Bert's door and said something like, "Hi, Grandma, I'm home again." No particular fanfare. Sometimes it would be a bit dramatic--Jennifer and Morgan were introduced when Mike accidentally crashed into their car, for instance, and Alan and Elizabeth were introduced through Jackie's flashbacks when she was remembering giving up Phillip for adoption. Nola was involved in the Roger return. Roger's return in 1980 was very dramatic, but in a way that made total sense. He was trying to kidnap a child, so dressing up as a clown did not seem crazy. The mask bit was not only silly, it didn't even make sense. Alex never knew him, so there was no reason for him to be masked in front of her. Yeah, she knew OF him, but there's that phenomenon called cognetive dissonance. If you see someone outside of an expected situation, you probably won't recognize them, especially if you never met them in person and think they're dead. I bet a CIA spook like Roger would be familiar with that concept. And he didn't have to be skulking around SF for months. Again, I will cut Long a little slack--it was not her idea to bring back Roger, she was told to do it. She never wrote for the character. It was something that was not planned. They originally went to Zaslow to offer him the role of Alan. He, of course, turned them down because that was a ridiculous idea, but then he suggested coming back as Roger. At such short notice, it's not strange his return was not handled well.
    • Eh...but neither had been in town. Know the name Roger Thorpe? Sure. But Alex would have gone crazy trying to memorize all of Alan's co-conspirators/lovers/wives and Fletch didn't even know Roger/Adam was on the island, IIRC. But who knew or should've known each other is always a little dicey when people come back to town.
