Bo and Sarah were OK. I was never a big Jensen Buchanan fan. When she joined OLTL she was very green. And given that she shared most of her scenes with Erika Slezak and Clint Richie, it showed. She did get better as time went on, but I always found her a little on the "cold" side as a performer. I know she became very popular later on Another World, but I didn't see much of her on that show.

OLTL did have Melinda flirt with Bo; or maybe that's how Sharon chose to play it. I cannot tell you how disappointed I was with how the show wasted Sharon Gabet. Talk about a missed opportunity! Her Melinda started out as a schemer, but later became wallpaper. At the time, though, OLTL was blessed with many popular leading ladies - Slezak, Buchanan, Fiona Hutchison, Jessica Tuck and Andrea Evans. I guess there was just no room for Melinda.

You're welcome. :) Fiona was awesome on OLTL, especially the first time around. I think I fell in love with her and her character when she tried to smother her husband, Steve Holden, in the hospital while he was in a coma. wub.png

WoST Brian interviewed Sharon which was a great listen. She said it was a little disappointing that she didn't get to work with Robin as her sister because that could have been real dynamite. I was surprised to read that Melinda wasn't really a Dorian place holder though, she wasn't as troubled and vixenish as previous incarnations of Melinda.

I've wondered if people commented on the resemblance between Robin and Elaine before Elaine was cast. I like Elaine's Dorian and I'm glad that she had a chance at the part, but maybe casting her as Melinda in the first place would have been a better idea? I don't know, there's no way to predict these things. Dorian is obviously the stronger choice for a character on the canvas, but when Robin eventually returned, that could have been an interesting dynamic (and Elaine wouldn't have had to be fired). I'm thinking more in tune with what I've read and what I picture of Jane Badler's Melinda with Elaine in the role.

of they could have done a Todd/Victor type thing. This storyline would have worked much better because these two actually look alike and Elaine could have easily played "twin" Dorian with a "fixed face." Robin being the real Dorian and Elaine being the long lost "twin" sister. and they wouldn't have to change the character much because she could still be whicked and continue her relatinoship with Jason while Dorian comes back and is the dress up DIVA who'll go after Joey. and they can both go after Viki.

    • True enough, and Tony and Annabelle suffer the same problem. And the people Quint and Nola had interacted with were gone--Kelly, Morgan, Helena, Mrs Renfield---even Van's been transplanted to the Lewis enclave. Nola's curiosity could've been used somehow, but after Reva's arrival it seems like Long is obsessed with selling that woman to the audience.  As originally written--no, the Chamberlains weren't stockholders anymore. At least not to my understanding. But any story where Quint and Vanessa teamed up, realizing that Alex had played them, and found some loophole to get back in to restore Henry's legacy would've been welcome. As much as I like India--Spaulding gets weird in '85 with Alex, Phillip, India and Warren fighting amongst themselves.

    • Same. And looking sooooo good.
    • Yeah this episode was actually really good. I loved SINN together against Looney
    • I can forgive them not writing a lot for Quint/Nola at Van and Billy's first wedding, given that Lisa was hugely pregnant and the other story going on was Tony's medical crisis. But yeah---Nola and Quint barely even speak to Van for that last year-plus. Not even after little Billy's born (although Nola and Van do have a nice scene, which is one of the few that they're just nice to each other) or the fallout of Van's addiction, and they flippin' leave when Billy's in a coma or right after being in one)  Even Henry goes to story Siberia. They gave them a big, new set and the promise of some Billy/Van/Nola/Quint family squabblin'--and NADA.  How COOL would it have been to see Nola side with Van and put Reva in her place? But no...NOLAROBICS. RME. Reva really needed someone outside of Josh to tell her like it was. Instead, Billy's head cheerleader. And Jon's calling him "uncle Billy", which just about made me gag.
    • 5-12   Well, as much as i've been enjoying the highs of BTG, I guess I should try to play catch up on my other soaps...lol.   I actually liked this episode. But I guess it could be because I felt there was a lot going on. Bill and Liam's talk. Luna attempting them inroads with Finn. Steffy comforting Hope over Liam. Sheila thanking Bill for helping Luna. Even a decent cliffhanger with Steffy walking in on Luna and Finn.   I know I said it before, but I don't care for the Liam storyline, but the acting has been good.
    • I enjoyed Santa Barbara from the beginning. Mainly because it was so fresh and different than the P&G soaps I was used to watching.  But there is no denying that it did not hit its stride until 1985. The writing, casting and production all finally came together. Unfortunately backstage drama then slowly destroyed the show and for me from 1988 onward it was a completely different show than the one I was a fan of.
    • Oh, really? That explains why the reveal episodes...the majority of which Zimmerman did the breakdowns for...hit perfectly. Cool! I really loved that. Background music and all.
