Erica did a massive remodel of the mansion in early 1992 when Adam forced her into marriage and made her live there with him. She did it in an attempt to drive him crazy and spend his money, but he refused to take the bait and let her do whatever she wanted with the house.

YES. TK and SL had good chemistry. I *think* that was the original plan because TK was quoted at some point early on the in Vegas storyline as saying something like he guessed he was going to be doing Susan Lucci for a while. IDK why that was dropped in favor of sticking Erica back with Jack AGAIN. I would have loved it if Zach had taken Erica up on her offer to marry him instead of Kendall. TK and SL are both great comedic performers, and that could have been very entertaining to watch.

I thought Erica's remodel was too feminine to last as Adam's home for as long as it did. Just too pink and mauve a la Linden. I would kinda "Pffft! :P " when he would be on his girly French phone shouting at and threatening folks on the other end. OTOH, I thought his first house looked way too middle class. One thing about that first house, my mom said she called that Adam had a twin based on that Oriental statue.

While I'm sure it was just a budget issue, I guess it's kind of cute to think that Adam didn't alter Erica's redecoration out of his affection for her. She left him with a wife-friendly home.

Oh what could have been.... Zach and Maria also had a lot of potential, if Eva had have stayed. I thought Thorsten and Eva had amazing chemistry. Thorsten and Alicia had great chemistry too, early on, but I grew to have such disdain for both characters any working chemistry the actors may have shared was snuffed out. For me, anyway.

Yeah the David/Krystal pairing was horrid. He was borderline abusive with her. The way he kept her drugged up and she was crying through their wedding, was just sad. She really got pathetic there and was better off with Tad. This did David no favors either.

Grandma Boring? Oh poor you. She truly was awful early on and its too bad it took them forever before they realized they needed to recast her with a more interesting performer

Zach should have come on the show for Erica. He and Erica were hot togethr in Vegas with tons of chem and I thought she should have been the foil to him and Maria instead of Kendall. Once he was put with her though, that killed any chance of him with Kendall. I really had no interst in seeing the relationship that those two built destroyed over a man. I dont think Erica should have gotten involved with Kendall's husband

I was reading an old Marlena column written after Erica lost custody of Bianca. She said she didn't understand why Erica was behaving so immaturely, complete with wearing a gold lame skirt to court, that she thought Erica was supposed to have matured, and she didn't know if the show expected viewers to pity Erica or not. She also wasn't thrilled with Lucci's acting in the court scenes.

How did you feel?

I remember a lot of complaints in the soap press about the custody trial, that the trial was pretty much written to be glaringly in Travis's favor with the outcome known to anyone paying attention, and in watching some of the old Jack-Erica-Travis scenes on youtube, I think it's clear they were going that direction. IDK if the original plan was to have Travis take custody and live in Pine Valley with Barbara and the kids, and that was later scrapped, or if TPTB just didn't want to deal with Erica being a mother full time.

Didn't Travis admit during Bianca's anorexia that he still loved Erica? Or was that something that Sean brought up - that Travis still loved Erica, and it caused problems in his relationship with Barbara, as did her sleeping around. Given how Sean described life in La Casa Montgomery, I wish they'd stuck around Pine Valley, because that could have been entertaining to watch.

Speaking of the Montgomerys, when Bianca, Kendall and Zach were having all that drama over Bianca and Zach conceiving a child behind Kendall's back, did Erica mention the circumstances behind Sean's conception? If nothing else, Erica would understand the pain that Kendall must've felt. But that was during Charles Pratt, so I wouldn't be surprised to learn it wasn't discussed.

I think the custody battle was basically a way to get Bianca out of Pine Valley so Erica wouldn't have to be a full-time mother. I don't agree that the character had matured too much by that point to wear gold lame to court, though. I haven't rewatched those scenes on YouTube lately but at the time I remember thinking the whole point of Jack admitting his affair with Erica on the stand was a cheap way to break them up temporarily.

No, she didn't mention it since Pratt didn't care about the history of the show.

Wouldn't it be funny if Sean & Kevin made one appearance as a couple on the reboot?laugh.png

    • Well, Josh was a horndog. LOL Yep. It was one of the first really weird things Reva did with her PPD. She became obsessed with the idea that Dylan and Sam should get married. Sam was only 17, and needed her parent's permission. Reva helped them leave town so they could go to a neighboring state where Sam was old enough. Ross, Billy and Josh stopped them, then Sam went to India to try and persaude Justin. Reva followed her and didn't tell Josh she was going. While Reva was gone, Josh advertised for nannies, and Harley applied. He ended up hiring someone else. But when Reva returned, she hired Harley because (in her weird mental state) she wanted someone she could trust with the kids (because she feared Josh was trying to get rid of her and that Vanessa wanted the children.). After Reva starts treatment, she asks Harley to stay until she's stronger because she's good with the kids. At the party, Reva starts going off the rails, insulting Justin and Josh hauls her to a private dining room to ask WTF. Reva starts confronting him about the "affair" with Vanessa, and he realizes she is weird. He locks her in the dining room and frees Mindy and Van from the ladies room (where Reva has locked them in). Van starts telling him that Reva attacked her and needs help.  Reva escapes out the window of the dining room and goes back to the party, climbs onto a table and starts a striptease. Josh gets her to stop, takes her home and after filling Ed in, decides to go to the doctor the next day. Reva then takes off and spends days running around town, coming on to a guy she thinks is Billy, Billy, Hamp, Frank and Roger.  Roger takes her to his apartment and takes nude pictures of her, which he tries to blackmail Billy with. He wants the deed to the land the Towers is on in exchange for them. (Billy had been left the deed by a sweet old lady who lost her home in the 5th street fire. Roger had stolen the deed from her before she died. After Roger took those pics of Reva, she saw him hide them, and took an envelope from the hiding place. She didn't realize she'd taken the deed and not the pictures.)  Anyway, Billy and Vanessa trick Roger into burning the pictures, claim the deed and at the Towers opening reveal that Billy owns the land and therefore the Towers. That's what led to Roger and Alex's breakup and Roger and Mindy's affair.
    • All the time they spent trying to make viewers feel sorry for Chad only for him to not even last that long. I wonder if they knew Richard Burgi was going so quickly. You're right about Josie replacing Cheryl. On paper, this should have made sense, given all the ties Josie had to the canvas, but I did prefer Cheryl. There was something very synthetic about Alexandra Wilson.  I suppose even if she did have some fans they were just so used to getting rid of people left and right, so she was more collateral damage. As you said above I do wonder what the plans were for Peggy Lazarus. I think AWHP mentioned her once telling Peter that Peggy Lazarus wasn't her real name. Maybe she would have been another Carl moll... Rebecca Hollen never did get her due in her soap roles.
    • So true...Hackney might have had a story on FC with Richard being an old lover of his, but reveals herself to be a Cartel member and blackmails Richard with something into doing her dirty work  LOL. But of course Richard had his hands full with the double trouble sisters Ms. Jones and Ms. Braxton that season.

    • Cat herself will be a stumbling block all her own as she vowed to Chad to stay away from him, thus redeeming her of her crime morally. Classic DAYS would have them gazing longingly at each other at Doug's Place or Blondie's, while Liz is serenading the room with a song aptly chosen to represent their feelings of emotional turmoil.
    • From what I just recently watched, they were setting her up to go into future stories. She was Emmy nomination worthy in the material I saw. If some viewers did not like her, the character could have been rehabilitated after that sick storyline. It feels like they destroyed a character for fun and then tossed her to the curb. Spencer had chemistry with everyone. I'm just retroactively angry on Spencer's behalf.  You're right about how Cheryl was often forgotten and pushed aside and I would take Cheryl over Josie. I think soaps need characters like Cheryl. Characters like Josie are way too common. Josie always got on my nerves.
    • CBS was back in third place in 1994/95. That was the season CBS lost NFL broadcasting rights which also cost them several established affiliates in major media markets. 1995 CBS was sold to Westinghouse and Les Moonves arrived. 1995/96 CBS was trying to be young and cool to compete with NBC and Fox, but it was an epic failure and CBS was once again in third place.
    • I tend to think that Chad will actually listen to Jen (this time). And that will be the next stumbling block in their relationship, which will open the possibilities for Cat to seek another member of their love triangle... To iterate my earlier thought, I am also not a fan of the person Melissa Reeves, but the character of Jennifer looks so chic this week, especially in comparison to Hope (and Gabi).  That blunt haircut is a winner.
    • I think Cheryl was essentially replaced by Josie, and it seems likely that Lemay wanted to bring the Frames back into the picture and for a variety of reasons that it would be McKinnons who would make way for them. Cheryl didn't really get many layers -- she was pretty and kind and sweet and faded into the background so that Scott could participate in the AIDS storyline with Dawn. Looking at the AWHP, other than (not very) shockingly being in love with her mother's adopted son Scott, Cheryl apparently went out with Sam and flirted with much-too-old-for-her John Hudson and MJ's ex-boyfriend/pimp Chad. I know MJ told Mary that she had been a prostitute, but did she tell Cheryl and did she tell anyone about Chad's pimping?
    • I feel the same way about Melissa Reeves' Jennifer. She just makes the show feel like home by her presence alone. I am perfectly okay with them coming in every once and awhile, which probably fits Reeves' schedule better anyway. Their connections to Salem are still there: JJ, the grandkids, Jack still owning half of The Spectator ... they're perfect recurring characters. All this talk of Jennifer being in the wrong regarding Cat is absurd. Jennifer is not being villainized in any way, shape, or form, she's just being allowed to actually be human, which adds odds to the obstacle of Chad and Cat eventually getting together. All inner conflict. Keep it coming!
    • Hahaha. Jean Hackney, Angelica Nero, and the Falcon Crest henchwomen were all straight out of a James Bond movie.
