Since this has been one of my favorite boards here lately. I'd like to get to know you guys a little better. Cause, alot of you I chat with I find totally awesome.

So. I just want you all to post your real names and some stuff about yourselves. I'll get it started cause I hate being called by my screen name. That's always bothered me even though I'm a message board pro. Haha.

I'm Selena. I'm 23, 24 in August. I was born and raised in the state of Kentucky and still live here. Even though my ambition is to move to Chicago one of these days. I used to work for Blackberry (RIM). Fixing the phones and also coming up with new features for the devices themselves...But. I've been laid off since Feb. 2010. I don't want to go back to that field of work either. As I love to write and I want to get a job in journalism.

I'm a music and TV junkie. I've been into soap operas since I was a child. I play piano and drums and am also taking up guitar. I like to write songs too. I love animals...and don't want kids. (Childfree..and happy that way) I like them. But, I just don't want them. I have nieces and nephews I adore though. I'm basically a very eccentric person.

Now. Whoever feels comfy talking about themselves. Feel free. I always feel so crazy calling someone by their SN though unless it's their real name. ^_^

*also hands out cookies and bean bag chairs* Get comfy peeps. :)

My name is Angela(people call me Angie). I'm 36, been watching soaps since I was knee high to a grasshopper. I'm an Ohio girl, born and bred, lived in Northern CA for a few years in the late 80's/early 90's. I'm also a classic movie fan, I love all things 80's LOL

Well, I'm Alex. 24. Gay as the day is long, and I live in Ottawa, Canada. I don't post a lot (mostly because I fear being shot down for not knowing anything  ), but I'm always on here, reading and learning. I'm in college for TV Broadcasting, the goal being to write/produce eventually, I have this somewhat lofty goal to produce a bi-weekly 10-15 minute episode websoap. Been writing it for awhile, i'm excited to produce that.

Been watching soaps since I was a wee child. Really got into them when my mom got me hooked on GL at age 8. Been watching fairly obsessively on and off ever since. Enjoyed pretty much every soap at one point or another. Other than that, I'm super into music (my dream as a teenager was to be a dance singer, hahah). I tend to nerd out about things no one else cares about, you'll sometimes notice that when I DO post. I mean well though.

Yea that's pretty much it. HI Y'ALL.

I try not to be, but people on here did their homework. It's intimidating. hahaha.

It's funny, in my household I'd come home from school and the soaps were our family time. My mom, and grandmother and I would all gather around and catch up. We had two VCRs recording 7 soaps per day at one point, it was INSANE. I kinda miss it though.

@Selena: yea, it was GL, Days and AW for me. Eventually GH too. It changed a bit as I grew up but those were my four big ones. Thanks for the welcome. I'm always around, even if I don't talk much, haha. I'm apparently really good at journalism, but my heart's in the fiction writing/production. I wish the soap industry weren't dying, i'd kill to be a part of it in the 70s and 80s.

haha, I was blessed with a hardworking VCR, as well as a local station that had a five-soap block between 12:30 and 5. Nothing was more satisfying than Annie's comeuppance on GL and the Kristen/Susan reveal on DAYS. I miss those big story climaxes. They used to totally make the years of waiting worth it.

My name is Gehrig but most people call me Spencer (middle name) because it's easier to say ;-P. I'm 17, born & raised in Los Angeles. I want to get into film making and/or journalism when I finish school this summer. I had my first job last year at Subway but got fired in May because I made a friend a free sandwich. Ever since then I haven't had a job but I plan to look for one when I finish high school....LOL

I love to write (film scripts/plays) & do cross country

Been watching soaps since I was like 4 but didn't start watching faithfully until I was 10 (2003). I got straight into AMC, DAYS, & GH. Loved Y&R to but stopped watching in 2008. Occasionally OLTL. Just got into B&B last year and regret not watching it sooner. AMC is my fave soap and I could never imagine not watching it. Oh and everyone knows I'm a huge Alicia Minshew/Kendall Fanboy

Fired for giving a friend a free sandwich. Damn this recession. I'm seriously not kidding. That was just silly they did that. I mean...If anything they could have just given you a warning if they *really* felt like you deserved it. :(

Ha. I know what you mean about names. Sometimes I wanna give up and go by my middle name (Renee) because nobody ever gets the spelling of my first name right. They always spell it "Celena" "Celina" or "Salena"...Gosh darnit! It's spelled just like that dead singer's who JLO played in a movie.

    • Off of the Xander/Paulina scenes in Thursday's episode, I really hope that means we're getting Theo coming home permanently. I didn't really see much of Cameron Johnson in the role, and though he was pretty and I'm thankful for his occasional thirst traps on Insta, Kyler Pettis could not act, so a brand new recast would be fine by me. I was annoyed the second Susan showed up again, but I do admit it was interesting to see her reunite with Marlena and see their dynamic when EJ joined them. Hopefully now we're done with her forever. As for John, this last bit of hope Marlena is getting before the inevitable is already so devastating. This is going to be so hard to watch. Xander reminding the audience he IS a cold blooded murderer, point blank. Paul Telfer was devilishly terrifying. Taking off his jacket was such a sexy power move. That Philip doesn't have a permanent dent in his face will be a miracle. It'll be interesting if it'll just be the one punch of if next week will see Philip more battered and bruised. All bad are they going to make Xander look. I will say, the best part of this story is that I'm not rooting for one over the other now. How Philip reacts to this violence will be interesting. I also liked how everything with the stealing the drug ended up. Very messy. Steve even made me laugh at one point, and I've been indifferent to him for years. I hope poor Kevin doesn't get scapegoated, but it'll be nice to see him presumably reunite with Shawn next. We'll be really lucky if Belle somehow crosses paths with him, too.
    • I've really been enjoying seeing him/Smitty interact with other actors/characters
    • She didn't want a hotel room; doubt she's going to want the apartment room, either. There was no reason to re-arrange the other one. This was the most logical move.
    • I just hope they don't move that lady in their apartment. Same. And Mike seemed to enjoy those scenes.

    • Bill and Smitty was the best part of today. I like the parallel that was drawn between them as "Dupree outsiders." It's similar to Bill's friendship with Ted and I enjoy both of the relationships that Bill has with them. I seriously wonder if anybody behind the scenes thought that the character of Bill was going to be as well liked as he is.  Btw, I see that they're not covering up Mike Manning's tat

Pamela talking like Bernadette Peters isn't really working for me though lol neither is Naomi and Jacob's part in June's storyline.  But I am interested in what's going to happen once Jacob gets Leslie to the police station.

date: Friday, May 16 | Gregori J. Martin, Lynn Martin | Phideaux Xavier Anita and Vernon versus Bill – I love it. Is Vanessa a dominatrix? That's kind of kinky, and Cody seems to love it, too! I love seeing Dana and Ted's dynamic right now; you can sense some kind of passion, and it's differing on both sides. I appreciate us building a connection between Bradley and Nicole. So, we've got the names of the Articulettes: Anita, Sharon and Tracy. A one-night-only kind of performance. Hoping they can pull this off. Dani and Pamela are a hoot together; I love their banter, and I'm so happy to see this friendship continuing to develop on screen. The anvil of Jacob and Naomi liking June being around; that's got to lead to something, no? Douglas, stop playing powerball with Joey. So Nicole wants to sell the house? Girl is jumping over divorce and right to the settling of the assets; thankfully, Vanessa has the keen sense to deny the offer to list the property. Notes: I like seeing different connections being built between characters right now: Bill and Bradley, Dani and Pamela, and Nicole and Vanessa. It's nice seeing things settling. I loved the scene of Pamela cooing over Joey's Instagram, given Cady McClain and Jon Lindstrom's real-life relationship history.
    • Boy, do I agree with this. These writers HAVE to know what they're doing when they add those "We're the Duprees" lines....at least I pray to God they do. If they don't, they're clueless. This family is -- like most families -- deeply flawed and going through it. There's something tone deaf about the "We're the Duprees" pronouncements all over the place.
    • Very interesting in what meal Anita and Tracy share.
    • Thanks for sharing your memories. It's so special to get to talk with your mother about a soap she watched when she was younger that you now watch. '70s feminism had to be much tougher, and other than maybe Search for Tomorrow (where the Kathy character is mostly unavailable in '70s form), Ryan's Hope may be the only soap that delved into this. Jill is such a fascinating character, one I'm not surprised was polarizing with viewers. So much about her probably shouldn't have worked, especially when you think of all the backstory thrown at viewers immediately (a previous love affair with Jack, being adopted and never feeling at home in the Coleridge family, being Frank's "other woman" for much of the decade). Nancy Addison was just so special, and the entitlement and arrogance of Jill felt offset by her vulnerability (which was not the case for the rest of her family).  Mary was also very important for feminist debates, and likely more popular with the audience, but I never really connected with her the way I did with Jill. Maybe because the inherent smugness of the Ryans felt like a wall.  Sometimes I wonder if it perversely helped Jill as a character that she was lumped with a complete dud of a partner for a year and a half, because it humanized her - why are you sacrificing your dignity for this loser?  @safe Thanks for reminding me of more Sarah Felder backstory. A great deal I had forgotten. I appreciate her sticking up for the Pat/Nancy story if it was struck down due to prejudice, but there was so much else wrong with that pairing (I say that as one of the few John Blazo fans). I suppose the narrative about Felder is just too easy to believe (and she never has spoken about her time on the show).
