Oh wow. No wonder I didn't know about that Rachel recast. Even though Strasser returned it's probably for the best since she probably wasn't anything special to begin with. That role worked itself out.

As for Randall, it's a shame she didn't stick around daytime. I could've seen her blending in on Y&R during the Brenda Dickson years.

Although it isn't terribly apparent from that pic Margie's casting was regarded as a classic case of "look-alike to distract from replacing very popular original" (e.g. Joanne Dorian for Gillian Spencer or Elaine Princi for Robin). Robin and Victoria touched upon this when they (along with Kimmer) did the "Divas" symposium at Paley back in '98.

Carl that picture is gold. I know I showed you already but Margie makes a brief (and kind of odd) appearance as a reporter in the first episode of Santa Barbara.

Didnt Randall Just Leave RH Before Coming To ATWT. I Think She may have agreed To Play Annie Until They Found A Permanet Replacement, which they found in AMC's Last Tara, Mary Lynn Blanks

I was surprised that Jackie Schultz diodnt reprise Dee, since she did in 85 & 86 & that Vicky Dawson who only played the role for 8 months from Otober 82-june 83 did. But then I read on IMDB that Jackie schultz & Larry Byrgmann Divorced in 1987 so that could have played into that decision.

Impert had been on SFT as a character named Maggie.in 70/71 so P&G would have been familiar with her.

Do any posters know anything of this character? She doesn't have a last name or a mention in story summaries so was obviously a supporting character-maybe a secretary or nurse,Maybe she was a less than sympathetic type and this lead to her AW casting.

That's interesting. I'd never heard of Maggie.

I don't know when the first date will be - hopefully someone else does - but anyone who wants to see Nancy Barrett's quick run as Faith Coleridge may want to start checking into Soapnet's RH reruns soon. Monday-Friday, 5 and 5:30 AM Eastern.

Another sight I'd never seen - Virginia Vestoff as Althea Davis. I wish we could see footage. I loved hero n Dark Shadows.

For some reason I always thought this was a sabatical for Liz but they make it seem permanent.

Nancy's RH run started this morning. So tune in over the next few weeks - it's not exactly fantastic material for her, but this is her only other soap role that seems to be around (her OLTL episodes must exist, but are never shown).

Does anyone know anything about Brooke Mills being cast as Iris on Love is a Many Splendored Thing, but being replaced by Leslie Charleson before the first episode aired? I saw this in a January 68 TV Picture Life.

I'd like to get the official word on the actress originally cast as Viki who went as far as to do promos (and maybe even an ep or two?). In her book, Ellen Holly says this was Trish van Devere but I wonder if she was mixing up memories as Trish played Meredith. Maybe Merrie was created for her?

    • Thanks!   Was anyone watching during this time? Wondering how Peggy’s rape played out onscreen. It just seems cruel to subject the Brooks family to this trauma a 2nd time.   Feels like the writers have already given up on the character of Jennifer, even though she sticks around another year-plus. She should be a passionate and fierce protective mother, but instead she seems just reactionary (and not even mentioned in this recap) This was also the case in ‘73 when Chris was raped. The writers are definitely more invested Stuart as the Brooks parent.
    • BTG got another SNL reference at 00:50  CONTEXT (so it isn't misconstrued) in this joke swap segment, Michael Che frequently makes his white cohost Colin Jost read racist jokes written by Che.

    • It's obvious that Israel's presence is a major divisive issue, and this is something that the EBU needs to deal with. According to the now published results Israel got 13 out of a possible 19 max points in the semi-final, and while their song isn't bad there's no way they would get those numbers without some kind of manipulation/political voting. They are clearly using this contest as a way of improving their somewhat tarnished reputation. I know that some people are comparing this to the massive sympathy votes that Ukraine gets and which propelled them to victory in 2022, but I feel that that was a more genuine show of support than this concerted effort from Israel to influence the televoting. I even had an ad on Youtube from Israel in Swedish(!) asking for votes! It might not be against any rules, but it feels a bit icky nonetheless.
    • Yeah, as you wrote, an Israeli win would have been a political disaster. Congratulations to Austria. 0 points from the televoting to Switzerland was a disgrace. Other than that, I really enjoyed the show ... but I'm also glad that Eurovision season is over

    • Hahaha Sorry if I was too negative, I just started typing and typing once I got going hahaha
    • @dc11786 Thanks for taking time to answer my various questions, along with giving your thoughts on the different writing teams. I wonder why they didn't just have Ryder and TR leave together if Jane was going anyway. The discussions over the last few pages have made me more interested in watching these episodes than I have been over the years - without the extra details and analyses provided, these years can be difficult to decipher (not helped by how often Jo seems like a side character).
    • I didn't think this was very good (I've never yet seen a good episode of this revival), but you do get a lot of Michael Stroka. And if you are a Donna Reed Show fan, you also get Paul Petersen.

    • A very rare, fascinating look at camera blocking in a 1980 episode. Very loose, almost startlingly so (who expects to see Will Vernon with a cig dangling out of his mouth?). @vetsoapfan There's some Jacquie Courtney content in the back half of the video.

    • Barbara Stock shares memories of her time on Dallas, including that Ken Kercheval was the only cast member she knew outside of the show and that she did not actually realize she was being written out. https://www.remindmagazine.com/article/29593/barbara-stock-spenser-for-hire-dallas-chips-spinoff-doing-know/
    • Thanks @Paul Raven  I concur that this isn't the most interesting material, but I do wish I could see how JoBeth Williams played those trial moments.
