Will Rebecca Herbst (Elizabeth) be leaving GH?

What is going on in daytime? First news broke of Jay Kenneth Johnson and Shelly Hennig leavingDays of Our Lives. Then word began circulating that Babs Bloom was out at CBS Daytime, now we're hearing the unthinkable—Rebecca Herbst (Liz) has allegedly been fired from General Hospital! Numerous sources say the insanely popular star was told she will be written out of the soap this March. Un-FREAKING-Believable...

SID confirmed the news. Statement from ABC:

"Storyline dictates the exit of Elizabeth Webber this spring. The next few months promise to be 'not-to-miss" story for the character. We at ABC and GH wish Rebecca Herbst nothing but the best in her future endeavors."

I wish I was still invested in anything in daytime to give two shits about these firings...

Yea this really isnt a shock. This show should get rid of a few more useless characters.

And there it is. Very sad, but I saw it coming. Incredibly sad that they see Elizabeth as this invaluable and they've made that painfully obvious by the character trashing.

A real missed opportunity with Jonathan Jackson back. I don't understand how GH thinks. Lucky and Liz were one of their biggest success stories in the 90s and this is the first time since those days they had the two actors back together. Outside of that angle, I don't see a compelling aspect to Liz, but how could GH not try to recapture the old glory with these two?

As I said, with Steve Burton talking in code and "things will be controversial", plus Liz suddenly being irrelevant, the writing was on the wall, IMO.

She is not used very much and the show has totally been decimating her character but IMO it will still be a tragedy if she leaves Liz is pretty much the last person that ties the Hardy's to the cast. RH has so many loyal fans, I am SAD!!

I am so, so sad This is just horrible.

They've really ruined the character SO much the past year. They've written her into a complete corner. It's sad because SO much could be done with her.

One more reason not to watch this show.

As much as I bitch about AMC and OLTL, I thank the heavens every day I don't watch GH. The one thing I cannot stand is complete regard for history and vets, something GH has been doing a whole lot of lately.
