Jack & Jill's first affair. Not sure if the clip is misdated as google says Jerry Douglas debut in 1982 but he's in a clip dated 1981. Perhaps Y&R re-shot scenes and played them as flashbacks to account for the casting change? John was a fool taking Jill back twice.

These clips are from the soap vault, it's the clip compilation that starts in 1982. These were flashbacks to things that happened in March 1981, re-shot with Jerry Douglas. Pretty wild to see the Jack/Jill photo debacle telegraphed like this... John is a fool.

Does anyone know who Frederick Combs played on YR?

“Frederick Combs (October 11, 1935 – September 19, 1992) was an actor, playwright and director. He died in Los Angeles of AIDS at the age of 56.

Frederick is best known for his role as Donald in Mart Crowley’s 1968 off Broadway play “The Boys in the Band” and also the 1970 film version directed by William Friedkin. He didn’t hide his gayness and he gave a candid interview to gay In Touch magazine.

“Do I regret playing Donald in The Boys in the Band? No. Of course not. Not in and of itself. I regret the aftermath."

Born in Virginia Beach, Virginia, Frederick, trained at the Barter Theatre, Abingdon. He made his Broadway debut in 1961. He also appeared in several productions of the Public Theater NYC and was a writer in residence at the Edward F. Albee Playwriting Foundation.

Frederick did minor roles in made-for-TV movies including a role on the soap opera “The Young and the Restless” but found acting jobs in any medium scare. In the mid-1970s, he moved to Los Angeles where he had his own plays produced including “The Children’s Mass” which some time lover Sal Mineo who helped produce. He also had several of his one-act plays produced.

In lieu of acting jobs, Frederick worked as a dialogue coach and acting teacher, and In 1979, he founded the Actor's Lab Los Angeles, where he taught privately and conducted classes.

It was just mentioned again in the GL thread that Birgitta Tolksdorf was offered a role on Y&R when LOL was cancelled but she declined.

I've always wondered what that role might have been? Possibly Judy Wilson? Or Julia Newnan?

I'm leaning toward Judy.

The original vision of Julia does favor her too - that long-suffering element.

Not sure why Deadline went with Y&R actress for Dee Freeman when she had many other credits and just had small roles on the show, but RIP to her.
