Picturing Kay and Dina’s friendship got me thinking up a 1960s-set YR flashback spin-off! I think it’s pretty good… someone get Josh Griffith on the phone!

I know all the timelines don’t sync up but just roll with it…

Dina chafes at mothering baby Jack and needs a distraction. Kay introduces her to tennis instructor Brent Davis.

Wayward teens Brock and Lorie start sleeping together and dream of departing to Europe.

Lorie does all she can to sabotage her prodigy sister Leslie.

The Foster family is stable. But suddenly, Bill Sr is fired from his bookkeeping job…

Teens Snapper and Greg are played by the hottest new young actors in Hollywood.

Jill will be played by a child actor, and rarely seen… though she will show a talent for hair and make-up.

Pregnant teen Sally’s degenerate father is murdered. Rookie detectives Carl Williams and Frank Lewis are on the case.

This reminds me of how much I wanted to watch the episodes of the Abbott Flashbacks from Dina's Alzheimers Storyline (2017 - 19), doesn't anyone know the dates and where I could find them???

Also Include Jack's Crush On Lorie, He mentioned it Twice! Once With TL and again with PB in 2002!

This would work on different seasons....

Season 1 is Dina's Affair and Kay Meeting and Marrying Phillip, The Start of Jabot, Mamie And Audrey North's Crush on John, etc.

Season 2 can have the rest of the stuff you mentioned!

There's a Julia scene from 1983 where she mentions being married to Victor for 10 years. Julia and Victor divorced in 1981 so that puts their marriage in 1971 and I would think Julia went from high school graduation to marriage, so birth year 1953.

When we first learned about Cora in spring 1984, Victor mentioned it was Christmas night 35 years earlier that Cora took him to the orphanage and Victor was 7 years old at the time. Victor at 7 years old in 1948, birth year 1941 (that's also EB's birth year).

Casey was introduced in 1978 as a new resident doctor. I would guess she was 26 then, so birth year 1952. Nikki was introduced as a high school student in 1978, I would guess she was 17 then so birth year 1961.

The Vietnam rewrite contradicted established history. Dina abandoned the family in 1971 when Jack was 16. The Vietnam rewrite had Jack serving until 1972 when he was 20 years old. I guess origin story could say that Jack was devastated over his mother leaving the family, leading to his enlisting in the military.

When we met Dru in 1990, I believe she was about 19 or 20 years old, so yes on a visit to Genoa City in the early 1970s Lillie Belle could have confided to her sister Mamie that she got pregnant from a marital rape.

Retcon aside I guess one could argue Jack “pretended” not to know how to use a gun back then because he didn’t want a lot of people to know about his military background?  I once heard that most men of a certain generation don’t talk about their time in the war, so I guess we could think of it like that?

Of course it’s always easy to say that the Vietnam story was Bill Bell writing for Peter Bergman and not Jack Abbott, which has pretty much been that way since 1989. lol

The time lines have all been altered and screwed with so much, it can be played with anytime a storyline dictates. Nikki & Paul supposedly had old Steve Burton (born 1970) as a son....are we supposed to believe he was born 1979-1980 ? Amelia Heinle was born in 1973 and Joshua Morrow 1974. Victoria was born 1982 and Nick 1988.

You would have alter dates backwards to make story work to write these characters in a Y&R prequal during the 60's and early 70's time period (pre 1973).

In my 1969 storyline with Nikki I made her 13 based on MTS birth year of 1956 even thought Nikki is supposed to be younger. It would make the character be more interesting as a teen than a tween during the late 60's.

Around 1972 you could have a young Traci Abbott watching a local music show and seeing a 10 or 12 year old Danny Romalotti singing a cover of David Cassidy's Echo Valley 2-6809.....LOL

Got another sad news from the Bahamian community (not a celebrity)  https://www.instagram.com/p/DJMSrYCgyes/?igsh=NTc4MTIwNjQ2YQ== Former Bahamian Senate President J Henry Bostwick, Husband of former 1st Bahamian Female Cabinet Minister Dame Janet Bostwick is dead yesterday on his 86th birthday.    Thanks and for those who've aren't familiar with the talk shows in The Bahamas on this thread here, his talk show named The Freedom March with Dr Rodney Moncur that airs on ILTV and The Beat 103.5 FM Nassau every weekday afternoons. IIRC, he suffered a illness before he died.  Here's the link for his final taping of the show before his death: https://ewnews.com/this-is-powerful-rodney-moncurs-final-sign-off/

    • One thing I thought about is if Hayley will have a reaction to Bill threatening to kidnap and sell a baby. That's another level of viciousness and with her just having thought she was pregnant it might make her feel some type of way.
    • You're welcome. Fall 1982-Spring 1985 was the peak of primetime soaps. What a time to have been alive.
    • 1990/91 Cheers, Roseanne, A Different World, The Cosby Show, Empty Nest, The Golden Girls were still Top 10 shows, and Murphy Brown and Designing Women became Top 10 shows. It was the following season that I think was the transition season for sitcoms.
    • @xtr I loved Martin in Thursday's episode, he was almost a different character. I thought he was flirty, funny, carefree, and giggly. Glad I have someone to share my top 2 women(Nicole and Eva) with, I agree Nicole is the heart of the Dupree family, and also the heart of the show IMO. We rode into the show on the passenger side of her car, lol. What I am enjoying the most about the show, is that they did such a great job character building, because all I care about is the CHARACTER journey. Nicole, Eva, Leslie, Dani, Chelsea, etc. very invested in what's coming next. I even feel that way about Mona, Shanice, and Doug.
    • I know we have discussed the fact that Another World seemed to be planning a location shoot in Finland that got cancelled. I came across this item from the syndicated Soapbox column published June 14, 1982. "Soap operas have been experimenting extensively with on-location shooting in recent years to enhance storylines and increase their viewing audience. A major drawback is the added production costs involved. Another World, for example, cancelled a special trip for Victoria Wyndham (Rachel Cory on the show), who was scheduled to shoot scenes in Finland. The producers felt that the high price tag, along with resentment of the cast members who also wanted to travel but were to be left behind. was enough to scrap the whole project."
    • A few more thoughts about these last two episodes. I thought it was interesting how much disdain both Dani/Anita have for Eva. I thought it was amusing how Dani was calling her lying/conniving and how Anita pointed as if to say, "that part". They definitely are not here for her, and I could see them having harsh confrontations with her in addition to Leslie. I'm curious to see Kat's interaction with Eva on Monday's episode. I think it might be interesting if Kat (along with possibly Naomi/Chelsea) come around to Eva before Dani/Anita do. Of course, Kat will be understandably angry at her. But maybe a tiny part of her might feel sorry for her if she really does believe that she's Ted's daughter as well and that Leslie lied to her. I could see Kat confronting Eva again and warning her not to harm her family anymore. But I could also possibly see Kat admitting that what Ted/Leslie did regarding her was messed up as well. And maybe that will pave the way down the line for them to get along better. I also agree with the comments/speculation made in the threat that Nicole will eventually accept/probably love her someday as well. I still wouldn't mind if somehow Nicole ended up being her biological mother. They have both been acting like they care for each other in this storyline. Nicole somehow ending up being her mother would be soapy and provide some more interesting layers in this story. And regarding Andre/Dani's romance it seems like they are genuinely developing feelings for each other. I have missed episodes, so maybe more of this has been elaborated on. But it seemed like there was genuine affection between both of them when they snuck a kiss publicly in the hotel. And also, them both talking about going publicly with their relationship. I wonder what everyone's reactions will be should they be caught by someone together. Of if they flat out tell everyone about their relationship.
    • I was wondering what week it was, and it explains the low rating for Knots Landing. I was also wondering what preempted Dallas and Falcon Crest.
