I guess I wonder because she was offcamera quite a bit of the season and when she's been on it's been this story which has isolated her somewhat and is now at an end. It's also my memory of Lori and Andrea. But they do seem to know how talented she is, so hopefully she will stay around.

I read some reviews that claimed it made no sense for Lizzie to "suddenly" snap. I don't get that. It was obvious that Lizzie had become increasingly unbalanced over the season and was finally triggered into a full breakdown because someone she respected directly told her that she was wrong to see walkers as people.

I think her being offscreen was actually storyline related tho her return was anticlimactic, maybe something will come when she sees rick.

I think the difference with her and the other two women is her popularity. Lori was universally hated from the start. Andrea was by the second half of that season cuz she was poorly written and used as a plot device and not a character. But carol doesn't get that treatment and is liked.

Yeah Lizzie has been slowly snapping all season long. This wasn't sudden and they built to this.

I'm mostly wondering how they will handle the reunion with Rick. Hopefully they won't have her sacrifice herself for Judith, so Rick will be sad and guilt-ridden. That's part of where I could see them going, if they think it makes sense for her story (with all the dead little girls). Hopefully they will keep her around. It's been nice to see her as more of her own person, even if I haven't always agreed with the writing for her this season.

I don't see where Rick matters any more. I don't see him being the leader again. Not after the way things went down at the prison. If the rest of whatever group they end up with wants Carol to be part of the community, Rick will just have to suck it up. Which should be easy once Carol explains what Lizzie was ready to do to Judith and how far they went to protect her. The only thing Rick needs to say is "thank you for keeping my child alive."

I just saw the episode and I knew that girl was psycho but dang I did not expect to see her kill her sister like that and plan to do the same to the baby next. Carol did the right thing. The psycho needed to be put down

LOL at how scared Tyrese looked to be left alone with her

I don't think Rick matters, per se, but there is such a focus on him (on Talking Dead last night, for instance) and how he will react. So presumably it will be important. I think that some of the others who are left, like Maggie, may have mixed feelings too. I don't really think they would have a problem with her coming back, though, unless the show just wants some conflict. Hopefully everything will work out and Carol will be a major part of the group again. I assume Terminus will turn out to be a terrible place, but hopefully most of the characters I watch for will survive.

I saw some articles saying oh this was a hyped episode, but it wasn't really that hyped - just a few interviews from Kirkman, I think. That's a pretty good rating, especially considering the subject matter. I do wonder what next week will rate.

Poor Tyreese was freaked out by Lizzie from the start. I didn't know whether to laugh or give him a hug.

Just chiming in (I don't like to read too much about the show and stay out of discussion threads - I'm paranoid that way lol) to say this last episode was fantastic! Lizzie killing Mika was definitely a jaw dropping moment. Carol has become one of the most interesting characters on the show. I have a whole new respect for Melissa McBride now - what a fantastic actress. The girl who played crazy Lizzie is pretty good too. I think she'll have a bright future.

The Grove was a beautiful tragic story and its my favourite of the whole season.

Melissa mcbride is the show's best actress and I can understand now why SG choose this arc for Carol.

The ratings for this episode are amazing and there was no hype for this episode other than Kirkman couple of interviews.

The real hype for this episode came from the on line fans in UK where the episode was releasee early on virgin. it came word of mouth.

The Grove showed that the show needs new writers now and that SG needs to write more episodes himself. The last 2 still and Alone where just awful.

I can only imagine how long the decision to kill Lizzie would have taken if Rick were around. At LEAST 3 episodes of him crying about it and yelling at the other characters.

The foreshadowing thing Carl linked to highlights to me that this show is probably much better binge-watched. It's just that so much of TWD is people walking through shrubbery that it all sort of blends together week after week. I enjoyed the show more when I watched the first two seasons back to back.

Early Rick, probably. I think after he killed those thugs in the bar and killed Shane, not as much.

I agree about the binge watching. It's true for a lot of shows. I binge watched season 2 and I enjoyed most of it. I actually loved a lot of that season. It's my favorite season. But if I was watching in real time I think I would have been driven up the wall with week after week of Andrea going on about "her choice" and insisting she could shoot a gun because she was a big girl.

    • In my usual account on my most used video hosting site with the video title  DAYS 1-8-15 Will & Paul Sex This is an edit I began when I was first teaching myself to edit & at that time I couldn't make it do what I wanted it to do. I pulled it up & finished it this morning.
    • Or Megan is shot as retaliation for Dave's unpaid gambling debts...while Julie confesses she's the biological mother of Special Guest Star Barry Bostwick's little boy.
    • Finland seemed such an odd choice for a location shoot. ATWT went to Greece and later Spain while GL had Tenerife and there were others in that timeframe. But Finland not being a known tourist destination or offering the tropical/sunny atmosphere usually associated with location shoots seems off brand. Maybe they were negotiating a deal with a tourist association and it fell through.
    • I was talking about 1986, but the glimpses of 1982 are about the same.
    • I skimmed some of the 1982 synopses; Steve was planning on an opening an office in Finland, and I think Jim went there as part of the preparation. That probably was a big issue; AW had already gone to San Diego that year, with Rachel/Steve/Mitch. And to upstate NY with Pete and Diana. I wonder if upstate was as expensive lol  AW in 1982 has always fascinated me, because of how messy it was
    • That makes sense. What a messy time for the show. And any changes they made were mostly for the worse.
    • The transition from Neal to Adam was very abrupt, and to be honest my theory is that the character of Neal was designed so that we think he is super shady but then it turns out that he was on the side of good all along so Neal could have seamlessly become a hero of the BCPD with no need for Adam. I don't know whether Robert Lupone was hired on a short contract or if he was fired from a longer-term contract because they decided they wanted someone who was more of a leading man type, but I can imagine a scenario where Charles Grant did both the undercover Egyptian treasure/flirt with Victoria and the straighter-arrow day to day police investigation. But in my imagined scenario the MJ prostitution plotline probably doesn't exist and instead he probably continues a relationship with Victoria. The story seems very odd to me. I assume that David Canary would have been included only because a plotline where Steve is going to Finland in which only Rachel is seen in actual Finland seems unlikely. The synopses explicitly mention that Alice can't go with Steve but would whoever was playing Alice at that time have had the kind of clout to get the remote cancelled? It also strikes me as unlikely that production would have approved the expensive location shoot and *then* cancelled it only because of jealousy. It seems more likely that they rejected it because of the expense but then the jealousy part got added to the gossip speculatively, possibly because while it was being worked out they justified not including more castmembers because of the expense.
    • My comment has nothing to do with cast resentment, but does relate to the Finland location shoot: It may be a coincidence, but Jim Matthews died in Finland in 1982.  Hugh Marlowe's final episode was in April 1982, but the character probably didn't die untll May or June. (I'm unable to find the character's date of death, only the date of Marlowe's final episode). SInce Jim and Rachel had very little interaction after around 1975, it is unlikely Jim's death in Finland had any connection to Rachel's potential visit, but the choice to have Jim die in that location at that time is a head-scratcher.  I'm sure the writers sent Jim on an extended trip (and off-screen) because of Marlowe's illness.  But Finland seems like a strange choice considering the (then) recently cancelled location shoot.
    • I totally understand your sloths concern about it and I agree with you. Let’s hope the show plays it’s cards right.    Further comments about the last few episodes: - I liked that one of the attendees was filming the scene. That’s realistic. I wonder if the writers will follow up with that.  - Martin and Smitty trying to drag Leslie out was very heteronormative, so perfectly in line with them two as characters lol.    As for the future: it’s obvious the Duprees will come to accept Eva one way or another, but the rivalry with Kay should be here for the long term   On the topic of acting: the only bad actors I’m seeing are Ted and Derek. Tomas hasn’t proven to be either good or bad, so far, but he’s certainly mediocre and uncharismatic. He sucks the energy out of the scenes and I don’t see any couple of women ever vying for him.
