I just can't get over how far this show has fallen in terms of quality.  "The View" was never -- NEVER -- my cup of tea, but there was a time when I respected it more than I do now.  The panel was filled with bright, knowledgeable (or seemingly knowledgeable) women with varied POVs, who could discuss and, yes, disagree on important topics, yet still remain entertaining for their target audience of upscale, educated, middle-aged females.  But now...?  Now, even "RuPaul's Drag Race" is a more substantial program than "Whoopi & Friends."

Okay, today's episode...

First of all, I am a gay man, and I have nothing but support for transgender people. I'm not going to lie and say that I know a lot about their struggles, only my own.

Listening to Clay Aiken was irritating. I don't know what dog he had in the race, other than to insult most viewers, other than those that are LGBT...

Raven Symone: You never allowed the woman that was on defend herself or explain anything about the situation that occurred. Maybe she is a bigot, but  maybe she wasn't... We'll never know her side.

I know plenty of homophobes, gay-haters, trans-haters, etc...I also know a bunch of people that I assumed were anti-gay around the time I came out, that were nothing but supportive. There were also a few that turned their backs on me that I never would have expected. This woman today was not able to finish the conversation. Raven also demanded to know why her 9 and 11 year old kids weren't given a talk about transgendered people.  I have two nieces in that age bracket, and they aren't mature enough to completely get the gist of the talk. They are playing with toys and swimming.  I found the first couple of segments both interesting and informative, but Raven's temper tantrums and shooshing the guest were unprofessional.

WE ALREADY KNOW YOUR  POV...ALLOW OTHERS TO SHARE.

I've never really minded her ignorance, and because she grew up in the industry, we know she has been around all kinds of people. I'm glad she has a cause she's supportive of, but I found her behavior as offensive as the alleged bigot's.

Only my opinion....

I like the panel of Whoopi, Sara, Joy, Sunny and Jedidiah. I do not miss Paula, Candace or Raven at all. Just make the switch and call it a day. They practically already have. I mean, it's comical that three of the hosts in the opening credits aren't ever even on. Move on and let's name Sara, Sunny and Jedidah.

I fear we're stuck with Paula but hopefully not. Her absence is up there now with Raven. I'd say they're done but Paula seems like someone who knows how to get ahead and will use dirt and throw you under the bus to do so. All of a sudden this woman became the GMA Weekend co-anchor and The View co-host. Just something about her ....

Jedidah is a good combo of Nicolle/Paula so they need to stick with her if she's interested. Of course they could have just kept Nicolle the past few seasons ...

+1 at all the Nicolle love. She was great last season and I was sad she was axed and then replaced with Candace (how many shows did she appear on this season, 10?) and/or Paula (not a big fan, she just irks me the wrong way). I love the current panel. Keep Whoopi, Joy, Sarah, Sunny and Jedidah, kick Raven and replace her with anyone else. Literally. Anyone. Else.

    • I have to admit I still have a nagging complaint about timelines - Why aren't we allowed to know how long Ted and Nicole have been married or how old Kat and Eva are? Or for that matter, when Anita last released an album? BTG is a new show with no SORAS or timewarping. MVJ and Guza are working from a fresh bible. There is no need to be so coy about ages and anniversaries, especially when most of the storylines are driven by past events.
    • It was an extremely rare interview even then - I was shocked when I read it (as mentioned I'd forgotten just how far in she went).  Malone was clearly hobbled by NBC and P&G, but re-using so many of his old stories and his soap bible instead of actually coming up with material suited to the characters or show did not help.
    • Seeing this trash get good ratings says nothing good about daytime audiences. It's embarrassing.
    • Cat does feel committed to being a goofball (the other term has been reconsidered in recent years).  I wonder, given her brother Aaron, if Cat was less attractive prior to the surgery?  Remember the 1973 movie The Girl Most Likely to?  My fanfic for the moment is Cat commenting on how people treat her differently now that she is gorgeous.  One assumes that pre-surgery, Cat never had two men fighting over her for a date.  So, it might be fun to see that side of the story.
    • It's probably one of the only conflicts the story will have, aside from Dante being upset with Lulu when the truth comes out. They really needed someone else who actually knows Gio is Dante and Brook Lyn's son and kept quiet.
    • So Cat wasn't a creation of Ron C.. but something that the strike writers generated? Perhaps the new writers will give her some layers and purpose on the show that doesn't revolve around Chad since isn't he on his way out next year?
    • Another good show today, but -- Why is super agent Joss holding that thumb drive in plain sight instead of stashing it in her denim shorts? Make it make sense. -- Dante going after Gio (in the previews) for Rocco's alcohol poisoning is lame and cliche, just a contrived way to drive a wedge between father and son.
    • Didn't he get all angry because the strike writers set her up to be Abigail? And he just went with the first thing that came to mind in order to prevent that?

    • That was an incredible interview.  I cannot imagine it ever happening with a performer currently on a soap.  I remember being extremely disappointed in Michael Malone.  I wish we had all of the backstage scoop on where things went wrong with him.
    • Go 'head, Brandon!! I was worried about this meltdown, but he's giving a pretty good meltdown. Knowing when to do it and just the right moment to pull back a bit.    These Kat vs Eva scenes. The best soap rivalry has the rivals have some empathy for the others though they dislike each other. And they are giving.    Yay! A brief SilkPress vs Dani moment.
