As a student, staff member, and faculty member at Rutgers University, I can't tell you how many times I walked through the gates that are featured in the opening credits for The Brighter Day. The gate was erected in 1901. The building in the background, which houses the university president, dates back to 1825.

That's beautiful. Glad some part of the show lives on forever.

Agnes Nixon was apparently the last person hired to HW the show. None of her material made it to air because the show was canceled before it would've been broadcast.

I wonder what her ideas would have been.

I only know about one thing & that was the first iteration of her mother/daughter trope. There was a beautician, character name unknown that sounds like Ada, like Mona, and she was much put upon by her raven-haired daughter, something of a self-centered ambitious woman. character name also unknown, that sounds like Rachel, like Erica. Knowing that much seriously whets my curiosity to know more.

Thanks. That would have been interesting.

"The microphones can't pick up any voices & soon the picture will fade. If, on occasion you think of us, we hope your memory will be a pleasant one." - last line, last episode of the soap THE BRIGHTER DAY 1954-1962.
