Actually, Kathleen Murray's temp run as Dr. Maggie Powers began airing in March of 1968. Does anyone know how long she was on before Bethel Leslie came back (briefly, before the role was permanently recast with Lydia Bruce)?

I thought I read on here that Lydia Bruce was originally a temporary replacement as Maggie while Bethel went to California to make a movie. Only Bethel didn't return so Lydia replaced her permanently.

Yeah, I also read that on TD thread. I think what happened in 1968 is that Bethel became ill (with measles) and the show had to temporarily recast her with Kathleen Murray. Then Bethel came back for a little while and then left again, this time to film a movie in California, thus leading to Lydia Bruce stepping in - for good.

October 1967 TV Picture Life

Patricia McAneny replaced Pamela Toll for six weeks on The Doctors while Toll went to make a Disney movie in PA.

Hmmm, we must have just barely missed the temp Liz when Retro TV started airing the reruns of TD.

I do wonder what stories she played. This must have been July or August (?). I wonder if she was with John then or what.
