This is why I hate when production gives the actor so much power!

I think it's always a mistake to let the actor have too much input into story & character and to give one actor perks & power over what most actors get which is just to be a participant.

For just one example, when a show lets an actor have a 3-day work week, all of their scenes have to be "first in" & it wreaks havoc on the shooting schedule for everyone else.

I don't know if Jeanne Cooper wrote about this in her book (haven't read it) but I was reading an old interview with Beau Kayzer and they said that the show wanted Corbin Bernsen to play Brock, but he couldn't sing or play guitar. They also said Corbin was relieved as he saw himself as a playwright, not an actor.

Corbin was 20 in 1974,beau was 23 so I guess it could have worked. maybe corbin could have played alittle older.

Years later Eric Braeden's son Christian was considered for the role of Cole Howard.

Chandler Hill Harben auditioned for Phil Brent on AMC in 1970. He was in the final two but lost to Richard Hatch.

In an interview with Soap Opera Digest, Richard Steinmetz admits he was on the five-yard line for a role on The Young and the Restless, which ultimately went to Trevor St John.

Bit of an age difference.

They're all within the same age bracket. Boatman & Lastovic are 28 (21 or so at the time), and Stine is 27 (20 or so at the time).

Daren Kelly (Dan Kennicott AMC) tested for Pat Ryan RH and Jeff Martin AMC. Agnes Nixon thought he resembled Susan Blanchard (Mary Kennicott) so she created a brother for the now dead Mary.
