I remember this show closing out Saturday nights. I used to also watch it for the Days promos. I'm glad SOAPnet put it on the lineup for as long as they did.

Wasn't George Clooney on Sisters also? He and Sela Ward's Teddy had madchem with each other IIRC. And his character died someway too.

And there was a story involving Patricia Kalember's character being a surrogate mom to Julianne Phillips' character's baby. She may have even donated the egg too.

Remember when Swoozie Kurtz's daughter was part of a prostitution ring? She played it off as "a dating service." I think Ashley Judd played the role first before they recast her with someone else.

Loved how at the end of the show, the mom picks the illegit daughter to handle all the funeral arrangements. LOL.

(Sorry, don't remember any of these character's names, other than that they were all boy names.)

Ashley Judd was on the show for a few years. In the last season they recast her. I think the soap magazines panned her.

George Clooney's character, Falconer, was killed off early in the 94-95 season as Clooney had joined ER.

I loved the first few years of this show. The characters were cliched but the actresses breathed life into the cliches, especially Ward, Kurtz, and Kalember. I also loved the Georgie/John marriage. And the schmaltzy moments, like the flashbacks to when the sisters were young, or John singing in his bathrobe, or the cheesy parodies (there was the episode where Alex believed Reed was sleeping with her boyfriend and trying to kill her, and she kept seeing herself in Mildred Pierce).

The downfall of the show was when they started taking themselves too seriously, around season 3 or so. The story that was a deal-breaker for me was when Georgie went to a therapist who made her believe she had been molested by her father. He then began having an affair with her after her marriage broke up. The story made my skin crawl, and with the other stories on the show also being miserable (rape, breast cancer, shootings) it wasn't hard to stop watching.

My favorite character was always Alex. I loved just about everything she did, and all of her relationships with Wade (David Dukes was such an underrated actor), the hot plumber who was a prince, and finally, that Robert Klein character.

I remember that! So, Georgie wasn't molested by father?! That was the psychiatrist playing mind games with her? How was that ever resolved?!

I wish I had a disposable income, so I could watch the show. I wish they would try to put the show on Hulu or some ad generated website so I can watch it again.

Charlie started going to the therapist to entrap him. He was exposed and lost his license, I think.

The whole story really upset me, because this came on the heels of over a year of misery for Georgie and her family, including her oldest son becoming a thug, and being sent to military school, and Georgie nearly committing suicide. She needed a break. Instead they gave her this. And to make it even creepier, the guy who played the psychiatrist was Kalember's real life husband and they wanted to do this story so they could work together. Ugh!

I loved Teddy early on. My favorite was the one where she was working for a phone sex hotline. I think they took away most of her personality after a few years.

Frankie was OK but she was a bit too whiny and dull. I liked her with Mitch at first but then it ran out of steam. The story with the boxer, not good.

Was I a fan of "Sisters"? Are bears scared of Erica Kane, lol? Saturday nights were incomplete w/o this show, IMO.

Ugh, Noelle Parker. She was terrible as nuReed, made worse by the fact that Ron Cowen & Daniel Lipman inexplicably regressed that character after all the work Ashley Judd had put into maturing her.

    • John Black actually was the ultimate good guy soap hero. So I don’t mind the town gushing over him. It’s deserved.
    • Be glad it wasn't a Perry production.

    • The whole town gushing over John Black as if he was a saint is eye rolling.  I guess death really colors people's memories over his many flaws, but I guess that is normal and human nature. I'm still confused as to why Leo hasn't been written out.  The actor stank up two soaps with his sub par acting, what does he have on TPTB's to remain on these soaps.   What's the point of Cat?  I hope the new head-writers figure out her purpose and develop her character. And I much prefer scenes not focusing on John's death because life does go on for the world when someone passes.
    • Wasn't there a break in Zaslow's first run? I thought Roger was off-screen for a while, and when Zas came back, Roger was hiding at the boarding house and Nola figured out there was something hinkey about him. I'm pretty sure Simon chose to leave the first time and was replaced by RVV. I don't want to assume Jordan's issues played a role in his first departure, but Maeve said in an interview that at some point, it became very hard for her to work with him and she asked to work with him less. That seems to fit 1986, where suddenly Vanessa is essentially Ross' law clerk and not at every Lewis family moment.
    • He needs to divorce her arse with her constant cheating.   She's no better than Doug... she's F*cking pathetic.
    • I didn't know of any interruptions for Maeve Kinkead after her 1997 return. Her runs would then be 1981-1987, 1989-1996, 1997-2000, short arcs until the end. I knew Maureen Garrett second run was interrupted from a 2009 interview but I couldn't recall the exact year. Her runs would then be 1976-1980, 1988-2000, short arcs until the end.
    • As I said in May, I have no problem with Martin and Bradley being married. You can still do all the fun introloper storylines with them as you do everyone else. Both men of a certain age, and it is very believable for them to have either a first love or have been previously married. And, you can do it without either of them cheating!

I said something similar during the premiere week. Bill was the perfect age to play Martin as Vernon and Anita's child. I would've much preferred this version, but oh well.
    • I don't know how you want to count Maeve. She "retired" in '00, but would come back for appearances. I don't know however if she made an appearance in '01 or '03. In '02 I believe she came back for Josh and Reva's wedding. I assume she came back when Gina Tognoni took over the role of Dinah. And I know she was back for Ross' memorial service. Maureen Garrett was around until at least '00. I don't think Holly was in town when Ben returned though. I just got pissed off about Jerry all over again.
