Y&R Discussion for the week of April 5th

Esther deserves to be treared like [!@#$%^&*] for abandoning her daughter for an old bitch. The problem is the writing, everyone sucks not just Chloe. Name me one interesting character.

Chloe was given good care and education, and since we are supposed to believe Katherine is the awesomest boss and mother figure ever, it was hard to believe she would have allowed any mistreatment towards Chloe. Yet the show behaved as if she was put in a hellhole. The scenes where she verbally abused Esther for leaving her in there came off very badly, to me; instead of Chloe being the neglected daughter she seemed like a shrill headcase. Given how quickly the show dropped that angle, something tells me they did not get the audience reaction they'd planned.

All the characters are poorly written but some have the foundation to make the current stories more bearable. Chloe doesn't, as she has been poorly written and gone through so many personalities from the time she arrived. They never have any idea what to do with her. Making what should have been a story about Chance, Nina, Phillip, Katherine, Jill, all about her, and trotting out Nina to make Chloe look good, is the best they can come up with, and now that that hasn't worked I guess we may be in for yet another new story and personality, if her BFF comes in.

No, making Chloe Kate Valentine was a fantastic idea. It connected her to the Chancellors and explained just what happened to Esther's daughter.

She was already connected to the Chancellors as it was. There are no families on Y&R, look at how much Mac is played with the Chancellors, or how much Billy is. It was a waste of origin. She wold have been more believable as a Daisy figure than Daisy is.

I've said it before, I'll say it again: Making Chloe "Kate Valentine" was a terrible way to save an utterly useless character. I realize EH might have her fans, but if it ain't clicking, tying her to someone like Esther isn't going to help.

Well I did like the notion of making Chloe be Kate back then, because Chloe actually breathed life in my opinion into Lame's boring storylines. Chloe and Billy showed some promise back then, but whatever edge Hendrickson and Chloe had back then is long gone and often when I see her these days I almost forget she's even still on. The real problem is Chloe only worked as a short-term interloper for a snoozefest couple, not as a long-term character.

I thought Chloe and Cane worked well together when they toyed with the idea of Cane falling for her.

True the Cane/Chloe combo did have its moments although wasn't that around the time rumor had it that Lily was going to fall for Devon? They seemed to change directions right after that. Then again I hated how Lily kept saying "Cane you have a duty to marry her and be a faithful husband" crap.

& she had a good care & education but she still was taking from her mother because the lady her mother worked for has money. & basiclly her mother allow kay to dictate to her how to raise her own child. If they would have played up to that beat of the storyline. I think it would have been much better for Chloe in the long run.

If there is any little spec of goodness left on Y&R it's that I've noticed an uptick in using classic Y&R scores as background music. It makes me sad as I fondly remember better times with those music cues, but at least they are there. The music they were using was starting to go down the Latham path(but no annoying pop songs...yet...)

No she doesn't cause she never abandoned Chloe. That was a retcon. A horrible character assassinating retcon.

Exactly.

Liz is a strong enough actress to do it on her own without character destroying retcons to shoehorn her psycho character where she didn't belong.

Tricia Cast did it.

Am I theo only one who thought that the girl who was playing Daisy was just AWFUL in those scenes with Lauren today??

Recast Daisy now! I'll give them an idea:

She'd have to roll herself in flour like a chinchilla to get on a Rauch show.

She was on Capitol. Conboy and Rauch are brothers from another mother.

OK, then how about:
