The Suds Report

Exactly. Of all the OLTL casting cuts, why is Scott and Brett's name being dragged into the mud? ABC seems to be desperate to propagate any theory and hope it sticks. I hope this bites ABC in the butt. I bet if anything, these instances maybe happened once or twice and someone's blowing it out of proportion to make it sounds more awful than it is.

Brett and Scott have both reacted to Nelson's report.

Scott via twitter: "Such a bummer what all of this is turning into. I will continue to respect the decision but will remain unhappy with the tactics.

And Brett via SoapOperaDigest:

After letting last week's firings of himself and OLTL co-star Scott Evans (Fish) sink in, Brett Claywell (Kyle) admits to Digest that he wasn't entirely surprised by the news and holds no ill will toward his former employers. "I'm very grateful that we got to do this. It's a storyline that's ending and there are so many others," he shares. "I just want to go on record to say I'm very appreciative of all the support I've gotten from ABC, ONE LIFE TO LIVE and [Executive Producer] Frank Valentini through this whole story."

In response to the rumors that it was one actor's partying and the other's busy schedule that led to them being let go, Claywell laughs, "It's so false it's slander. Scott and I were nothing but professional and completely 100 percent dedicated to our work." For more on the cast shake-ups at OLTL, check out an upcoming issue of Digest. Evans and Claywell will continue to air into April as their award-winning story wraps up.

Ugh, what pisses me off is that all of this "inside information" is conveniently coming from a deepthroat or throats while FV and company keep their hands clean avoiding any direct charges of slander/career killing.

Legally they won't get the blame, but fans are still going to think it's from FV or someone else at ABC whether they make the direct comment or not. It's all so tacky and so pointless, I would almost rather not believe it's FV. Shows have had controversial firings before, including OLTL, and I never remember this type of ugly reaction where two actors are blatantly smeared. This just makes no sense to me. Someone seems to believe the public is so homophobic that they need to not only do the firings but also paint the actors in a gay story in the worst light. And Nelson Branco gets outraged over a kissing ban but has no problem printing this garbage.

Yeah, I don't think I have ever seen this messy or controversial of a firing before. We have about 3 or 4 different theories swirling about as to the reasons for the firings, we have fans campaigning, doing a rally, etc. The GLAAD president saying they are going to continue to push to get the Kish story back. I can't help but wonder, what all this is going to build up to? I wonder if at some point, ABC's going to give in and try to bring them back or if they are going to try and ride it out?

I don't think ABC is going to give in. GLAAD is a pushover and more interested in raising money for themselves than helping a cause. And gays are expendable, as are ethnic minorities and vets -- the shows dump them and then shrug off fan backlash. I don't know exactly why this suddenly got so nasty. I think perhaps someone at ABC assumed the fans would not care and were surprised and angry about the complaints. Either that or perhaps Scott or Brett were upset, and this is how the network is paying them back, by permanently damaging their reputations. Or Branco is desperate to get in good with ABC.

Since ABC is notorious for firing people without warning, I am sure Brett and Scott are hurt. However, I still don't think that prick Nelson made up the entire story either. So much drama and mess goes on behind the scenes, I won't be surprised if there weren't some truth in this story. Now if there isn't both actors should sue Nelson Branco's sorry ass.
