Sorkin Back to DAYS

Soap Opera Digest has learned that fan favorite Arleen Sorkin, who appeared as DAYS's Calliope from 1984 to 1990, and made brief returns in 1992 and February, 2006, will be back in May for a short run. "They just called me and asked if I wanted to do it!" she says. "I didn't really let it register, but now it's real! My dialogue? That I ever remembered lines is unbelievable! I emailed Leann [Hunley, Anna] and said, 'You have to work with me. My brain is Teflon.' " She reports to the set today, March 8.

I was just thinking about Calliope a few days ago, and how they don't have characters like this on daytime now. I have no idea why they're bringing her back (was she friends with Anna?) but I hope they give her some fun stuff like they have with Louise Sorel.

I wish they could have Jon de Lancie return again too briefly. Calliope and Eugene are still together right?

If these returns continue to work for fans and the ratings are stable enough that NBC renews the show, it could happen.

Christie Clark would get the show my ratings. Frankly, she's the only thing that could ever get me to tune back in (I quit when John and Marlena were fired).

Great News!!! She and Anna were good friends. As of 2006 she and Eugene were still married. Hope her stay is a little longer and involve more character then her last return! I am in Days heaven, the eighties returns are awesome. Now lets bring on some seventies characters like Susan Martin, but i know thats a jump.

They must be getting a positive response for these character returns, so hopefully they can continue. It seemed like from what I've read and the little I've seen, DAYS had a lot of characters in the mid/late 80s who could come back.

I'd love to see Susan, just to see Julie's reaction, although I know that's probably a pipe dream.

^^ That's great for you, but her absence is one of the main reasons I don't watch.

Carrie has always been better than Sami. It's a shame the show doesn't appreciate that.

As for Calliope, I think her 2006 return showed that she really serves no purpose on Days anymore. It would've been nice if they could bring Eugene with her, though. Something different.
