Members Scotty
For you Oprah and ABC soap fans in the D.C. area affected by the snow storm: From: http://www.wjla.com/news/stories/0210/704872.html
Members dragonflies
When we're pre-empted in my area, my ABC channel NEVER shows the soaps at another time. Basically if I didn't have SOAPnet I'd miss the show's that day.
Members Scotty
Either that or watch them over night/next morning when they are uploaded to abc.com. Also, I know with OLTL, someone usually always uploads the episodes to Youtube several hours after they air.
Members EricMontreal22
AMC has a good youtube uploader too--I've depended on it and OLTL's a couple of times since abc.com's videos dont' work outside the country.
Members Scotty
Same here....I don't have SOAPnet (well I could, but I am not about to shell out a lot more money for dozens of channels I don't want just to get it), and have watched many an episode of OLTL on Youtube when I would miss them on ABC (before they started uploading them on their website). OLTL has a couple of good posters who are pretty faithful about uploading eppys. to Youtube too.
Members SFK
Here in the New York tri-state area, GH will air at 2am (WABC-TV).
Members EricMontreal22
The last few months of The City's run the local ABC (Seattle's) decided to air it at 11:30 or 12 or whenever some affiliates were airing it. I admit--I liked watching it as a late night soap.
Members SFK
You know, I would have enjoyed that too (although that's when I was still in high school and had to be up quarter to six). I'm such a night owl now it's funny to look back and remember that it wasn't until my junior or senior year when I'd still be up for Letterman. I don't remember if it was O.J. or 9/11, but I recall a few surreal moments waking up in the middle of the night and seeing Victor and Nikki on my screen, but I would have napped and woken back up for The City if they'd aired it late nights in my area. Aargh, wouldn't 13 Bourbon St. have been so much fun??
Administrator Toups Posted February 11, 2010 Administrator Share Posted February 11, 2010 Pre-emptions for a snow storm. HA! Weather person: It is snowing outside!!!!! Oh you Americans!
Members EricMontreal22
I was in grades 10-11 when City aired, but I guess I was staying up till 1am or so then (I usually managed to not have a class first thing in the morning...) And yes, this is yet another reason I think the idea of 13 Bourbon would be great. There's that article in the City thread about how many stations reported a spike in ratings when they showed it at midnight as opposed to 11:30 or 12:30--and that makes sense to me--it was a largely youth oriented soap--that's hwen the audience would check it out. (when NBC put Sunset Beach for a year or so at the end of their latenight schedule--at 1:30 or whatever, I wonder how it did)
Members Scotty
Just wait until summer and they break in to tell everyone how hot it is outside.
Members dragonflies
LOL yeah they think we're too stupid to look out the window to see that it's snowing I swear they interrupt for every little thing
Members Adam
Its sometimes no better here, Toups. Remember Toronto calling in the ARMY to deal with a snowstorm?.... which I recall not even being THAT bad. LOL.
Members SFK
Aww, snow, Toronto, you guys are making me think of The Kids of Degrassi Street.
Members dragonflies
It's also annoying when they interrupt for a news conference or something, then have to proceed to summarize what was just said, like we're morons or something
