Gotcha, thanks.

Do people even realize that Frankie was named after Jesse's uncle? Would be nice to have at least one visit from Nancy and PAT!! Hello!

Jack Armstrong was the Greg recast. He was also one of the many Kevins on OLTL and had a recurring role on Days.

I remember Pat briefly on Loving--am I making that up?

No, you are not making that up, and she had more weave in her head than early '90s Robin Strasser. :P

Pat recurred for a good while when Angie and Frankie first moved to Corinth.

The one big mistake with bringing Angie to Loving I think was no thaving her cross over to AMC first. Here in Canada we don't get any promos anyway so even if they did have some during AMC, no one who didn't watch Loving would know she moved on...

Wow, that was him?? I have a vague childhood memory of that. I always figured Kevin was JA's first soap role... he was the blonde-ish Kevin. I didn't mind him, but a lot of people didn't like him. He's kind of what I'd imagine TSJ playing Kevin would be like.

Good point. AND if they'd had Angie meet a guy or something during her teaser eps on AMC, then the move to Loving so people might follow her and the new dude. From what I rememebr of those early Angie Loving episodes was that she was so incredibly fresh to the canvas, she had absolutely no roots/connections and was riding entirely on the fact that she was Angie from AMC. Luckily, it all worked out. Of course for sentimental AMC fans like my family, just seeing the three of them unpacking boxes in the living room was a treat, but still.

It was such a mistake to kill Frank.

John & Darnell were awesome.

I guess Danelle's dismissal was a combination racism/ageism thing-get rid of him,he's over 40 and we're bringing in a new black character so another has to go.

Is he still alive?

Frank could have at least stayed recurring.Imagine a black character staying on the show for years and now he's chief of staff at PV hospital.

Didn't his Loving character have a teen son at one point?

Nono I definitely agree! Sorry if I wasn't clear, I just found it ironic that at the time people probably assumed because he was so masculine that he was perfectly straight (it was just a random thought at 3am--I really shouldn't post so late lol) While Babbin was in the industry so may have been more "in the know" even in '83 (well even now) a lot of general audience would probably find it surprising that to "butch" up a show they'd hire a man who was sleeping with other men.

This topic reminds me of all the posts in the Y&R topic some time back sympathizing with that straight actor who bolted because he had to kiss a guy, and there would be these posts sympathizing with his plight and no one should suffer such a fate worse than death, blah blah blah. Meanwhile, professional actors like Dack Rambo kissed women and never threw a single fit. People forget it works both ways--uncomfortableness--and people like Dack went on their shows and sold it.

Agnes was so fond of Frank, I wonder if this happened during the 85-87 period she was at Loving the show she still owned?

I believe Frank died in 1982 or 1983. I find it interesting that in the 1970s, though they probably weren't major players all the time, AMC and OLTL both had decent black couples in Frank/Nancy and Ed/Carla, respectively, but by the early-mid 1980s, they were gone or one their way out. Imagine how great it would be to have black characters who have lasted as long as some of the most tenured white characters in daytime today. If AMC was still about centering its families around strong matriarchs or patriarchs, they could have definitely tried to get either Lisa Wilkinson (Nancy) or Lee Chamberlin (Pat) to fill that role for the Hubbards, and it could be awesome. I'd prefer Nancy because she could easily be the whole show's matriarch now that Ruth is gone. But I digress.

Speaking of Nancy, I believe I've only seen one thing with her online, ever, and that was back on WoST. It was a 1982 episode that has yet to make its way to YouTube where Joey (Jake!) shoots Kate by accident. The clip of the shooting is on YT, but not the whole episode, which includes Ruth and Joey visiting next door with Nancy and Carl. The Grants and Martins were neighbors.

RE: Liza/Nina recasts. Sweet Jesus. I'm watching a relatively lengthy string of early 80s episodes courtesy of HamiltonBernique () and this Nina actress is horrible! Truly terrible! She seems like an ex-porn star, to be honest. Very robotic in her delivery, and it's even worse when she's with Zach Grayson and trying to be "enthusiastic." Ugh. The Liza isn't too bad. She's different from MW, but she has a few similarities.

I think Charles Tyler was just played out. His kids Linc and Ann had been written off by this point, Phoebe married Langley, and he settled into a happy marriage with Mona. There was nothing else they could do with him. Hugh Franklin had been around forever and probably cost a pretty penny. I've often said that the same thing would have happened ages ago to Fran Heflin, Mary Fickett and Ray MacDonnell had Susan Lucci and Michael E Knight not become huge superstars.

Actually, Hugh Franklin did leave AMC due to illness. I read an interview years ago with one of the actors (forget which) who said Franklin knew it was time to go when he could no longer remember his lines.

Cocaine was a huge problem behind-the-scenes at GL, too.
