She did sign a new one. They came to her like EB and told her they needed her to take a pay cut. One of the reasons I understand she has been so light on the show (recently anyway) is because of contract issues. It is why they wrote her out for a month.

Why they going ot mess up Phylis relationship with Micheal. I liked their relationship where they just have sex when they needed that kind of comforted from each other.

I hate when writer put their own feelings into a couple. Bitch can write for a couple she just going ot mess up Phylis more. & Micheal going to get hated.

Didn't we go through Colleen & Brad dying this year. Do we really need another death for this year?

EWE @Michael and Phyllis and really I'd rather the baldwins and all the fishers Killed with the exception of Lauren. The only thing is we definitly do not need anymore BIG good for nothing killings here. We need good stories told on characters that stay within a recognizable scope of their characters with better dialogue

I don't want to give them an excuse for being classless in how they go about it? And this isn't just about SONY if they handle all their vets this way. This is also on the Bell family. They could show a little class if they have to write these vets out. Everyone blames SONY or the actors for not happily taking the cuts, but Maria and the Bells always seem to get a pass and yet if this rumor is true she is pushing just as hard as SONY to eliminate select vets she cares little about. I am not talking about someone like EB who makes a fuss and still takes home a million. I am talking about the ones who will be dropped in the coming year or so or going back to a Don Diamont. He was lucky to be picked up by another Bell show quickly. That won't be the case for all the vets.

I also know that many people are losing their jobs. Two of my closest friends lost their jobs this year, but it is still wrong to let these actors hear about these rumors online because you don't have the guts to tell them what is going on to their face. It's cowardly. Maybe SONY is a faceless corporation but Maria and the rest of the Bell family are not. I guess after the fact, they will think giving an actor a cake and telling them how much they will be missed is enough in their eyes.

It does bug me that MAB gets a pass. I first heard this rumor this past summer and now it's playing out just as I was told it would. TB has been loyal to not one but two Bell shows. And yet where there's smoke there's fire as far as some of these rumors go. I remember hearing Devon and Tyra were going to sleep together. It seemed like the stupidiest rumor ever but guess what? It happened. I don't for a single minute think she's got stories for Michelle and Michael, as a couple, up her sleeve. She's just not into any of these characters. Notice how Adam is getting a redemption story now so that Maria can write the hell out of the his story because he (this actor) is HERS.

She wanted to kill off CK because she could not stand her but the network would not let that happen so Maria pitched the cancer story in hopes of, at some point, being allowed to kill Lily.

I mean with all due respect to your argument, that's kind of a onesided view of looking at it. I'm not saying one is right and one is wrong, both sides employee and employer are fighting over the bottom line $$$$$$$. In any event however way you or I or anyone who choose to see it can we really call it that TPTB is purposely LETTING them see the rumors online? Maybe they do need a better handling on things. Speaking for myself I have opinions so I can't knock anyone else's opinions, however I tend to look at each argument suspiciously whenever money driven agenda's are involved. Both sides agenda is driven by money IMO

BTW, Michelle Stafford denied the Carolyn Hinsey story that she signed a new contract on twitter.

Wait until next time? Next time would be two or three years, if she did accept the new contract terms.

Now that I've been thinking about all of this, I think Phyllis should be paired with Neil or returning Malcolm. Putting her with Neil would be DYNAMITE if Dru returned. Honestly, even as a huge Y&R fan, if I took over the show today, Dru wouldn't be back until the end of summer next year at the earliest. Unfortunately, they haven't developed a good story for Neil and in order for Dru to return I feel like SOMETHING had to have happened in his life. They have to rebuild the Winters so there is something for her to come back to. Neil needs a strong love interest like Phyllis, Sharon or Nina so he'll truly be conflicted over what to do. Dru also has relationships with those women which adds another wrinkle.

Of course they would never pair Neil with Phyllis or Sharon, two female characters they enjoy decimating. The Ashley rumor works because they don't care about her either and he's an easy way to minimize her role. No other reason you'd put those two together.

She did deny it on Twitter. But she also said she would not be gone a month and guess what? She was gone a month. MS is historically very quiet about her contract. She never talks about it.

Dru is not coming back so no need for her to invest in Neil. Now, if MAB is able to phase Michelle out, she migt be able to go to Sony and make her case. That would be dumb as Phyllis and Dru would be gold. But I do see a pattern. Neil/Ashley and Michael/Phyllis. Neither pairing makes sense but would allow her to pair up people she does not want to really write for in couples.

From the interviews EB has been giving lately, I can't help but think they are now going to renegotiate everyone's contracts every 26 weeks and use the stories provided to the actors in the mean time as the reason to drive them down, until they choose to leave.

It is speculation but MTS was saying she re-signed and didn't take the pay cut and yet now there are all kinds of rumours that she signed a short term contact because they only planned to keep her until EB's negotiations/departure and have no plans to bring her back.

Why would MS want to say she re-signed but only on a short term basis?

They try to do what they can to undercut Sony to support their vets like hiring Eileen, Lauralee, Jenn Gareis, Heather & Don.

Sony even ordered Latham to kill Dru to keep Victoria from making the jump so The Bells are at least trying to reciprocate some of the loyalty their cast has shown them over the years.

But there's only so much they can do with Sony being so cheap.

She wrote out Eric, Mel & Kristoff when she didn't want to so it's not like she's specifically targeting CLB or Tracey.

I don't give Maria a pass on her crap writing but the reality is she's dealing with a show overloaded with vets with huge salaries & given Sony's interference plus Daytime's current climate cuts have to be made.

    • Watching the cult of Fetterman collapse is one of the few political bright spots for me. The best part  is watching all the people who built him up now decide they want to tear him down. I'll be fascinated to see how this ends for him. https://buckscountybeacon.com/2025/05/pennsylvanias-democratic-senator-john-fetterman-raises-alarms-with-outburst-at-meeting-with-union-officials/

    • Long ago, this Rachel fan channel uploaded a number of clips of Rachel with Felicia during the alcoholism story, and this one in particular stands out for me.

And then you have this scene, which is the dark mirror of the above, especially the final moment: By the late '80s, especially after Wallingford's death, those times were gone, and Donna Swajeski added further misery to Felicia with the Gold Street backstory. Luckily, after a bit of time the show found a good framing for this new twist on Felicia. The stories with finding and losing a love from her past, learning that a woman she hated was the daughter she'd spent years searching for, sinking into alcoholism, they all fit into the type of material suited for the '40s and '50s screen goddesses.  When Dano tried some of this old weepy type of material when she went back to ABC, it mostly fell flat, as the atmosphere wasn't the same and her character always felt shoehorned in. It worked perfectly at this period on AW because you had Iris, you had Rachel, you had Donna - you had a number of tough-but-vulnerable women of a certain age, most of them grandmothers by this point, but still trying to find love, find themselves. This is what AW could have had earlier if they hadn't dumped Pat and Alice, but better late than never. This is an approach you saw more often on British soaps than on US soaps, which for a number of years respected women in that age group. Both UK and US soaps have done away with this, both countries having the ladies devolve into perpetual ingenues (with added doses of endlessly self-aware camp in the UK) or just being shipped off entirely.  You could even see that on AW with the treatment of Iris (shipped off, never to be mentioned again, too old to return), Donna (repeatedly humiliated and crippled), Felicia (regressed into degrading herself with married John), Rachel (mother to newborn twins, put into lengthy periods of trauma through her new relationship with Carl).
    • I'm of a certain age where I caught some of Upton's final year and it was not great but Jean Holloway was worse. All I remember is Bambi, Bambi, Bambi!
    • Yes, of course, all of those servants added to the overall picture at AW & also people had relationships with those servants! I like it when Anita asks after one of the servants at the club, how their children are doing & like that.
    • Great scenes between Marlena and EJ today. Paula and Jeanne are making EJ have more depth than Ron had during his long drawn out tenure.
    • Might as well say it, Minority opinion, granted, but I like Joss & I'm okay with this WSB story & i hope that Emma will be their next recruit & she & Joss can be partners.
    • Thanks again @Paul Raven  The Arlene/Ben/Betsy triangle is one I wish I could see for myself as on paper it doesn't tend to excite me but I can see how well-constructed it was. I wish I could see the Rick/Meg relationship too, although I wish they'd had him genuinely fall for Meg after he gets together with Cal. The whole Brooke/Deacon/Bridget story on B&B was horribly damaging to Brooke as a character but it was dramatically very sound because I could completely believe Deacon would fall for messy and vulnerable Brooke after finally settling down with the more docile Bridget.
