October 20, 200916 yr Member “Russian Roulette” was written and produced by fellow Def Jam artist Ne-Yo, whose long track record with Rihanna includes the #1 hit “Unfaithful”, their Top 10 duet “Hate That I Love You”, and #1 pop/ #1 R&B “Take A Bow”. In addition to Ne-Yo, other producers and writers on Rihanna’s new album include the team of The-Dream and Tricky Stewart, Chase & Status, Stargate, Justin Timberlake and more. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YDLO5fiioqM Take a breath Take it deep Calm Yourself He says to me If you play You play for keeps Take a gun And count to 3 I’m sweating it out Moving slow No time to think My turn to go And you can see my heart beating You can see it through my chest Said I’m terrified, but I’m not leaving I know that I must pass this test So just pull the trigger Say a prayer To yourself He says close your eyes Sometimes it helps And then I get A scary thought That he’s here Means he’s never lost And you can see my heart beating You can see it through my chest Said I’m terrified, but I’m not leaving I know that I must pass this test So just pull the trigger As my life flashes before my eyes I’m wondering will I Ever see another sun rise So many won’t get the chance to say goodbye But it’s too late to think of the value of my life And you can see my heart beating You can see it through my chest Said I’m terrified, but I’m not leaving I know that I must pass this test And you can see my heart beating You can see it through my chest Said I’m terrified, but I’m not leaving I know that I must pass this test So just pull the trigger
October 20, 200916 yr Member What the hell? I tried many videos and they all say this video is not available in my country due to copyright restrictions.... Edited October 20, 200916 yr by YRBB
October 20, 200916 yr Author Member The song is... Try this: http://www.ryanseacrest.com/blog/whats-happening/listen-to-rihannas-longawaited-comeback-single-russian-roulette/
October 20, 200916 yr Member Thanks! The song is... not what I expected. Perhaps foolishly, I thought it would have been some crazy, fucked up dance-y song. Is she channeling Beyonce? The song reminded me of that a little bit... I kinda liked the idea of the melody, especially the Chorus, but the execution was TERRIBLE.
October 20, 200916 yr Author Member Can you imagine they're selling it as a smashing club banger! Club banger?!
October 20, 200916 yr Member Can you imagine they're selling it as a smashing club banger! Club banger?! They ARE? I can't see this as a "banger" unless people start "banging" when they hear this.... God what were they thinking? It sounds like a Beyonce reject song... and Rihanna does not have the voice for that. And, may I add, that photo??? Jeez..... Edited October 20, 200916 yr by YRBB

That's what I've heard, but I think some people mistook this song for Tricky Stewart's one: http://www.rollingstone.com/rockdaily/index.php/2009/10/19/rihannas-new-single-is-an-edgy-club-banger-tricky-stewart-says/
October 21, 200916 yr Member This doesn't even sound like her... That's a GOOD THING! It's kind of addictive, though.
October 22, 200916 yr Member I sort of took note of the lyrics of this song, really deep and thought-provoking. However, I think this would be better as a second or third single. It doesn't sound like a strong lead-off. Or maybe she could be trying to pull a Beyonce on us by having a ballad and a "banger" at the same time. Different strokes for different folks.

November 27, 200916 yr Author Member I have to say... I absolutely love Russian Roulette! Ever since I heard it on The Hills (!) it just won't get out of my head. And the scene where Audrina leaves was so suited for it. I only listened to the album once and found it unbelievably bland, but now that I've read what other people are saying (and they're enormously positive, proclaiming that this album has elevated her from pop star to pop artist and she's only 21 (!)), I have to re-listen and see what happens. November 28, 200916 yr Member I love RR too, but it's the only true standouts. The stans talking about how brilliant this album is are crazy. If anybody else released this album it wouldn't be heralded as one of those great "should be hit" albums. It's terrible. Like you said it's bland and the production is weak. The two follow up singles are terrible and she wants fans to choose between two songs for the fourth single. I forget which two tracks they were, but even the stans were saying those two tracks were weak. I like Rude Boy and Cole Case Love, but overal it sucks. I think it is pitiful that they're selling the album for 99 cents. If they are that desperate to have good first week sales, then imagine how bad he long term sales will be. There truly arent't good singles that will be major hits. It's obvious the label indulged her and she has no talent so what does she know. The next album will be great I'm sure. She won't have any control then.
