She was at her most tolerable when RN left the show.Would she have had story? Sure. Would it have been good story? *shrugs* Other than not needing to venture into the ridiculous, it's not like Reva ever let her love for Bud stop her from sluttin' it up.I don't think Reva worked as well when separated from the Lewises. And I damn sure don't think Kim would've really been happy doing "mom Reva" type stories.
4 hours ago4 hr Member YouTube apparently got super sneaky with the algorithm to push an episode with Chris Berneau as Alan from 1980-definitely night and day from RR. There’s Vanessa looking stunning and clearly trying to drive Hope nuts with jealousy, and Hope confiding in Amanda about her insecurities. There’s preteen Phillip in a baseball uniform (and Amanda is very much an adult haha). And Maureen Garrett truly is an ageless wonder.

The bigger issue for me was their refusing to let Annie go once Watros left. At least they learned that lesson the hard way.I also never thought of this story as having a proper triangle. I felt like the show just kept coming up with excuses to keep Josh and Reva apart rather than Josh having genuine feelings for Annie. The only other woman I thought Josh worked with was Harley.Aww, I really liked Annie/Josh in the beginning, before Zimmer came back. Not knowing Reva/Josh, it was easy for me to really buy into Josh/Annie because they were sweet. She nursed his leg and it was cute watching them flirt and become a couple. I really wonder what they would have planned for Josh/Annie if Zimmer hadn't come back. My gut tells me they never would have gone the crazy route. Alcoholic maybe? But it felt like Reva is what drove her to start taking pills and then drinking, and her back story with Rick didn't come out until after Reva was back too.

Not to mention Eve. This Van would've made mincemeat of Reva.

So that's Alan-Michael's mother, glad to put a face to the name. And I know this was all discussed recently, but now to see Hope talking to Amanda like that, before A-M was even born, is LOL considering 15-16 years later, Amanda comes back to town about the same age as A-M. Also funny seeing that she's way older than Phillip here too, but in 1996, I always felt like GA looked older than Poser. I liked Poser, but they really should have just brought on a little older of an actress for Amanda, especially since they were going to make her Alan's sister instead of daughter. Oh well. Oh the end of this episode talks about how Brandon left Amanda so much in his will. So this is what they sort of picked back up on 16 years later, wow. That Eve character in the beginning looks really nervous in her scenes to me. This show has so many Ben's over the years haha. Oh and there is Justin Marler, Ross and Ben's brother! Another good face to put to the name. Both Maureen and Maeve look amazing! Oh and they're calling Blake 'Christina' at this point in the timeline. That last scene between Holly and Rita, about Ed, was interesting. Holly looked a bit mischievous.

You also got to see the infamous Rita (Lenore Kasdorf) . This was right after Lenore came back from maternity leave. The character left because Roger caused her to lose her baby so lots of sympathy for her at this time. But she had her notorious moments. Most definitely, MG has a portrait in the attic. As does Maeve. Even though she looks her age now, she's still SO beautiful. Both blessed with amazing bone structure.

1 hour ago1 hr Member The algo then went backwards to March 1980 and I couldn’t resist. It’s the lead up to the Santo Domingo plot. There’s Ross plotting with Alan. But what drew me in was Roger disguised as an old professor and young Nola bringing him food. I can really see how people say Bridget was like Young Nola.

I didn’t even have any context and it was clear Van was intentionally being a chaos agent. It’s sort of funny but when AM and Van were rivals for the Spaulding presidency, Van had about the best possible line available to say, “If I’d felt like it at the time, you’d never have been born. What a shame.” lol Edited 1 hour ago1 hr by GL95
