Agreed.having her at Lewis Oil was stupid, and the whole concept of Lewis Oil was stupid. One multinational corporation on each show is enough. They could have just said that Lewis Corporate Offices moved back to Tulsa and just said Trish or someone else took over and kept Lewis Construction..keeping all the corporate intrigue at Spaulding. They did move her back to Spaulding and even unmasking Vickie but then they brought back Alex (for a bit) and dropped that.

At that point a Van/Matt/Beth triangle could have worked, tossing out the old thing and just having Matt frustrated that Van was knee deep in Spaulding, and helping Beth on construction of a rape crises center...and then it slowly evolves, no need for villains or ageism.

Didn't know what to watch when I got home today and ended up down a GL rabbit hole on YouTube. I was all over the place, but I noticed there were a few 2006 episodes that have episode titles at the beginning of the episodes and almost serve as standalone episodes. I don't remember this at all even though I was watching at the time. Was this something new GL was trying at the time?

Yes, that was the Inside the Light that GL did 2006-2007. GL ran those episodes every Wednesday. If I recall right they chose that day because Wednesdays were typically the lowest rated episodes of the week. Originally dedicated to character spotlights, there was some fun ones like the Mothers Day special that brought back Nadine, Jenna, and Sarah Shayne as ghosts. However some of them were crammed filled with stories/events that should have been expanded out more, like Ross’ death & funeral and Springfield Burns.  The majority of them were typically boring, often were weird, and not entertaining in anyway at all as much as they show tried.

Unfortunately with the advent of the Peapack era it seemed everyday became a Wednesday.

Wow, it just all seems like a blur now. Might have to revisit some of these, especially the Mothers Day episode. I caught a bit of the one titled The Law and A.C. is on some reality type show being followed by a camera on a sting operation. I'm honestly surprised they even had a police precinct set at this time. In my mind things looked more bleek, but I guess even compared to a few years earlier it probably did at the time. I may also been thinking about how bad things got in '07. My memory has gotten a bit hazy.

The tribute episode with Beth Ehlers as Irna Phillips was the standout.

The episode with Harley as the super heroine (with electrical powers), The Guiding Light, was just silly.

I gave em credit for trying new things.

Days like these (4th of July) I really miss GL. Not many soaps make a big deal about the 4th these days, but back when GL was on air you could always expect some big drama to occur at this years Bauer BBQ. Sigh

Yes, the "radio show" episode was truly iconic & Beth as Irna was possibly the highest of many high spots.

But, the Marvel/GL "mash-up" also had costumes designed by Shawn Reeves, GL Costume Designer involved with it. (He was also at AW & now is at GH.) Now, of course, I can't find any pix of anything but the Beth Ehlers character. Dadgum. I remember seeing the drawings at the time & then the finished product & they were cool costumes.

Michael, I find that all the time I miss both AW & GL. It just is what it is.

    • MVJ seems to be cognizant that Leslie and Eva are true breakouts for this show:

    • Yesterdays episode was a great lead in the fireworks for today.  It is a shame that Naomi and Jacob are not there and Nicole's best friend Vanessa and Doug.I am interested to see the fallout from this.  I do think that Eva is Ted and Nicole's daughter.
    • Okay, I hear ya. But, you know Josh Griffith on one Thursday night fired 7 or 8 writers in one fell swoop! That totally blew my mind. But, I still think this is bunk. And, no, the show is not that bad! Literally, my only problem with it, as a fan, is that I think it could be great & it's just not. It's good, not great. They still are not on top of pacing. They routinely take too long to tell stories. But, one example, the scenes this week with Lulu & Laura were like old time soap come home!
    • Ok nevermind, Wolf is in Marian's getup on the Jan 9th episode. Lucy wakes up at the lighthouse and it's now Marian, drinking tea, and sounding like an old British woman a la Mrs. Doubtfire

Wolf is actually doing a good job as Brett, but I don't think they made him look like a believable Marian - its too clown/drag, but also creepier - and Wolf has a large nose they couldn't hide. I guess at this point, it didn't matter since she was unhinged and revealing him/herself anyway.
    • This is the *new* Rachel Black who just started airing on DAYS 4/25/2025, but of course with the ginormous tape-to-airdate gap on DAYS, she'll be airing on DAYS for months to come. And yet now she'll be new ex-Rachel. LOL.
    • As someone who cut ties with the show a little while after Chris Van Etten came back, I can’t talk on what the show is like now… is the show that bad? But even as a rumour, that’s pretty wild and radical. I don’t think I’ve ever heard of that before.
    • Yes, I know JK is getting on in years, but perhaps he and his family (wife and/or son) could work with him as co-headwriters on the new TEON! I would also be available as a story consultant!

    • It's too bad they didn't see it through. Alan and Van could have married for all the wrong reasons and ended up caring for each other, with Ross in the wings and possibly Rita, too, to cause trouble. Rita was a LITTLE BIT of a schemer. She was kind of the Nola of her era, without the goofy personality. She deliberately went after Ed because she thought he would give her the lifestyle she wanted. She could do malicious things, i.e. cooly seduce Evie's crush (who was played by Jordan Clark, btw) and string him along until she was sure she had Ed. While Rita claimed to be deeply in love with Alan at the time she departed, part of the attraction for her was his money and power. As well as sharing aspects of Nola's character, she was also a more subtle version of Reva-she grew up poor and always wanted more than she had.
