Wow! The episode were Sunny is raped is so intense. I've never seen it before, as with most pre and post AOL Classic Soap Search. Marcia McCabe gives an amazing performance! You can really feel Sunny's pain. Emmy worthy for sure. Seeing these really makes me angry that Hogan and Sunny were dumped by the writers to come, they really should have been end game.

I appreciate and enjoy immensley the work of Marcia McCabe, but Sunny is one of those characters who most writers just couldn't find the right place for. In that respect, she reminds me of Ariane Zucker's Nicole, an interesting character played by a talent actress that often has an aimless character despite the utility of the characters they are playing.

The situation with Hogan / Sunny is complicated. David Forsythe departs in August, 1984, or thereabouts, after the show brought on Victoria Windsor, Hogan's ex, as the third wheel for the triangle. I think they may have briefly toy with the idea of a Victoria / Sunny / Lloyd situation, but the show really struggled to figure out what to do with Liza wihtout Travis so it seems like, for a moment, they shift to Lloyd / Liza / Stephanie playing on the rivalry between Stephanie and Liza that Lee / Tomlin developed when Liza started to handle Travis' part of the TV station that he had inherited from his father. Sunny dangles.

I don't hate the Hogan / Liza pairing as much as others do under Mayer / Braxton, but I don't appreciate their characterization of Sunny. I could see how Sunny would get to the romantic delusion about Hogan, but I'm not sure I could see the angle involving Sunny's suicide. I appreciated Tomlin playing Sunny / Hogan again briefly in October, 1985, during the poisoned water storyline, but there was just so much focus on Liza / Hogan. It's a shame really.

And then, at some point, they shift to Hogan/Patti and Bela/Sunny, which I'm sure drove fans REALLY insane, lol.

Gary Tomlin was doing a very admirable job during his first stint on SFT. His last episode is March 16, 1984 and Jeanne Glynn shares co head duties with Madeline David for three months before Caroline Franz comes in to replace Madeline (then Franz and Glynn are fired with Franz leaving mid February and Glynn writing five more weeks before Mayer/Braxton are brought in with Nicholson as producer at end of March).  And they constantly rotated script writers. P&G did the opposite with Edge in 83 when they should have fired Sheldon and/or Nicholson but kept Sheldon for 18 months. I now think Gary was moved by P&G and/or NBC to assist Culliton on AW. Gary was near his one year (May) anniversary when he was moved.  What a mistake. Richard and Gary didn't last on AW even though they had some high points. I also appreciate Ellen Barrett who came in after Joanna Lee's disastrous six month run (I think Joanna got fired for the live episode stunt?). Ellen was working well with Gary for five months although I don't like her next several months with Glynn/Franz but it wasn't totally awful. I don't understand how they let Sue Scannell go; they should have made her a long lost McCleary instead of bringing in Adair and Justine (who I couldn't stand; such bad casting).  We always blame writers for the upheavals etc, but the networks and owners effed with these shows constantly as we read with McTavish's book on another thread.

Tomlin & Goutman, began acting, tried writing, ended up directing. Goutman went on to illustrate the Peter Principle, where one is promoted to the level of their eventual incompetence.

When you do please mark them as that, okay?

Also i've seen people asking for them other places, too, one for instance, on Discord  where digital file traders hang out. If you let us know when & about your uploading, I will post it there.

Each one, teach one, and all that folderol.

    • I have no idea why Gio would go to Sonny first since he told Emma he thought Sonny knew about him all along. Maybe to clarify if Sonny knew?  Considering Sonny didn't know Dante was his son back then it doesn't really matter. I am sure Sonny will make some wise parallel about his father leaving and his mother dying or being lied to by Olivia and Gio will see the light.
    • I know I have heard Orpheus mention it, at least in passing.  I still don't know why exactly he hates John though.  It seems Orpheus was heavily leaning into a Stefano moment of Marlena obsession, but then he always wanted to murder her a bunch so it's unclear.
    • I always thought that whoever pitched his return story in 2016 just didn't do their homework, and didn't know that the real Roman was the one who killed Orpheus' wife.
    • Xander is Victor's son, but thought he was his nephew until Victor's will.  His mom is an alcoholic who ran Sarah down then left town.  He's got a kid with Sarah and then is related to the rest of the Kiriakis brood. I would argue Orpheus lost his purpose years ago.  I lost the plot with Orpheus when his entire beef was with John and not Roman.  The person who actually killed his wife. Too be kind I'll just say it looks like Chandler was a bit out of practice at the old acting game.  He's never stopped smirking.
    • He is Victor's son so Bo and Philip are his brothers and Brady and Shawn are his nephews. Justin has remained his first cousin

    • -- I didn't want to be the first person to mention it, because I've complained so much about Chandler Massey's smirking and grinning in the past. He just cannot get through a scene without breaking -- that grin broke through every time he ran into another character today. He looks young -- and good -- but I am not a fan of this acting. He's not trying. -- I agree with others here about this goodbye. The bandaged John is a throwback and a full circle moment, but it's gone on too many days already. I especially hate the "He's getting better" stuff. That doesn't work since we all know how this ends. -- I'm glad to see the return of all these characters and I love the flashbacks, but I think DAYS could have done all that without the bandaged exit.
    • That's the one thing I really dislike about all this. Orpheus should not be alive.  If anything, I hope he's erased from existence from here on. He has no purpose now that John is dead.
    • Yeah, it's so undignified. And looked it! But man, you can tell Stephen Nichols, etc. are not acting. They should've canned the fake voice guy at the very least. Great, now I have to try to remember who the fúck Xander is related to.
    • I am the first to say I don't have the perfect scenario for John's death in my head.  I think it would have had something to do with saving the world from Orpheus and killing Orpheus once and for all, but losing his own life in the effort. I am actually sad Orpheus is still alive and well doing dastardly deeds.  I GET the saving Bo idea.  I just am not sure I want to say, "Oh, yeah, John died in a meth lab.  Some kid attacked him and he burned to death" I love all the actors coming back to pay tribute.  It's lovely.  I think it would have been smarter for Marlena, Kayla, etc to say this is grave for John-it's time to say goodbye.  Not add in all the "he's doing great and on the road to recovery".  I assume it's a nod to Drake about always fighting, but, man, if you didn't know Drake had passed the rug would be pulled out from under you next week as an audience member.
