AMC: Erica goes on location

Great read from TV Guide Magazine and Michael Logan. I can't wait to see these episodes in Kenya. Although I'm a little bit sceptical as to how this storyline is going to fit given that it starts to air on Aug 20 and it's now Aug 3rd and we're in the middle of a murder mystery with Erica's daughter as the prime suspect. Why would Erica just leave Kendall to go to Kenya?

But don’t assume this new enlightened Erica will go over well with her audience. When the first of two planned specials on the crisis in Kenya airs on New Beginnings, viewer turnout is low. The producers quickly drop the second episode and switch to a show about beauty makeovers, during which an angry Erica goes rogue on live television—a la Howard Beale in “Network”—and gets back on topic. Come September, she’ll raise funds for the cause with a massive dance marathon, like the movie “They Shoot Horses, Don’t They?”

Someone shoot me. The idea of something beyond herself causing a change in Erica is a good one but I am under no impression this will be handled well.

Says Pratt: “It’s the most complicated, ambitious thing we’ve ever done.”

Shut up, you've been there for less than a year. Shut up.

I agree. Really, the only writer that could make this work is Agnes Nixon. If not her, Lorraine Broderick. But Pratt did have some good family moments early on when he first came on board. Those scenes have since been hijacked by the Valley's mob aka Zendall and co.

I have been so tickled by this image of Miss Lucci/Kane struttin' around the mothaland, and then I clicked on that link and saw that pic, it was immediate "Awwwwww..."

I read this and thought "Sure, hey, what the hell, why not?" It's just so random.

Shut up, you've been there for less than a year. Shut up.

This made me laugh because, really, "shut up" is the only response that works when Pratt starts talking.

You have to watch this video from Entertainment Tonight. Montell loves him some La Lucci and talks about how she changed the lives of many children in Africa.

Montel, don't choke me up too. I think that is the loveliest thing I have EVER heard anyone say about Susan Lucci. I will never forget that tribute to her.

I got choked up too. His reaction was definitely genuine.

At first when I saw Susan on a cell phone, I was like, "Who is she talking to?" Then I realized that one of the person's getting her autograph handed her a cell phone to talk to another fan. That's cool.

I really hope these scenes in Africa were shot well and that the storyline, however long it lasts, is meaningful.

Yep, went through the same thought process myself. I slept through her appearance on Montel's show years back, maybe it's on YouTube. This was when Montel played a judge on AMC.

Okay, Montel got me with his genuine praise and affection for Susan. Yes, I am a sap too.
