A “Celebration” Of Madonna Music - The Definitive Greatest Hits Collection September 28/29 Release

July 23, 2009 - For Immediate Release (Burbank, California)

Madonna, who has racked up a record 37 top 10 hits as well as seven No. 1 albums (including her last four) on the Billboard Pop Charts, has given her fans yet another opportunity to “celebrate” her musical achievements. Today, Warner Bros. Records officially confirmed the September 29th release in the U.S. (September 28 outside U.S.) of “CELEBRATION” – the ultimate compilation of Madonna songs. The songs on “Celebration” have all been remastered and selected by Madonna and her fans. They cover the expanse of the Material Girl’s extraordinary career of hits including “Everybody,” “Express Yourself,” “Vogue” and “4 Minutes.” “Celebration” will be available in a two-CD set as well as a single CD. There will also be a “Celebration” DVD released simultaneously which includes the video visionary’s best videos including several that have never before been available on DVD.

“Celebration,” the CD will also include two new songs that were recently recorded in New York City. The first single, also titled, “Celebration,” co-produced by Madonna and Paul Oakenfold, will be released August 3rd. A video for the single, which will be included on the “Celebration” DVD was just filmed in Milan, Italy and was directed by long time Madonna collaborator Jonas (“Ray of Light”) Akerlund. Several dance club remixes of “Celebration” are already headed to the clubs. The song will also be available on CD and vinyl maxi. Radio will receive the “Celebration” single on August 3rd.

The cover for “Celebration” was created by street pop artist “Mr. Brainwash” who is best known for “throwing modern cultural icons into a blender and turning it up to eleven.” (A copy of the cover image of the “Celebration” CDs and DVDs is attached)

Madonna, a multi Grammy award winning singer, writer and producer has had over 12 No. 1 singles and has a record-smashing 39 No. 1 singles on Billboard’s Hot Dance Club Songs Chart – by far the most of any artist in the over 30 year history of the list.

I'd love it if this definitive collection had the original mixes of "Like a Prayer" and "Express Yourself" on them. The Immaculate Remixes suck ass.

Warner is foolish to let her go. I'm glad she didn't do another studio album with them. They would have totally not promoted it.

^^^^^I believe it it the original version of these songs, only digitally remastered, of course...

Word! I'm there. Gotta love Madge!

This sounds like The Immaculate Collection with a couple of extras.

The Immaculate Collection was only 17 tracks primarily from the 80's era of Madonna's career..

This is a 2 disc compilation that takes the hits from all the eras of Madonna's career.

18 - Revolver

So, years ago she releases ONE greatest hits package that is missing key hits... and now she does it AGAIN???!!! And she leaves off the same songs?? I give up. I'm going to pick up cheap used CD's of the original albums and take the trouble to compile my own. She don't need any of my money, anyway. She's put "Human Nature" on there, and it only peaked at number 46 on the charts, and "Hollywood" peaked at number 93!!!! "Who's That Girl" was number 1!! And to think I held off on compiling my own cause I knew this was coming out!! ATTENTION, MO... if you want to release a greatest hits package, make sure ALL your hits are ON IT!! This means:

Angel

Causing A Commotion

Dress You Up

Who's That Girl

True Blue

Rescue Me

Live To Tell

Oh Father

Keep It Together

This Used To Be My Playground

She had 37 top 10 hits. It's easy.... include ALL 37 top ten hits, plus as many more as will fit on the discs. A double CD set will hold between 42 and 48 songs, , plenty of wiggle room for other songs that just missed the top 10, and the 2 new ones.

I think Warner Brothers intentionally left off some songs to spawn other compilation albums, since her catalog is quite vast. Also, if you want most of the ballads, they're available on her ballads compilation Something To Remember.

Attitude magazine reported in an interview with Oakenfold that the tracks he produced with Madonna are called "Broken (I'm Sorry)" and "Celebrate". He stated that the new music is "lyrically classic Madonna with an edgy modern sound."
