Y&R: Week of June 1, 2009

A daytime soap couple just based on sex is pretty limited. If this were HBO or Showtime, then yes, a very sexual couple would certainly have its reason for being. This is post-Janet Jackson daytime though. Phick's sex scenes are going to be very limited so most of their "relationship" is implied. And I for one don't find watching couples play video games to be intrinsically entertaining.

That's why I prefer Phack and Shick. Phack has a fiery in your face dynamic. These two can throw down and, on a soap with no-nudity and limited sex, that's more entertaining to me than Phick. As for Shick, I like that it brings Sharon back into the Newman fold. Their relationship is also more about romance than sex. If Y&R were on HBO, I might have a totally different opinion. Within the constraints of daytime though, Phick is just not that interesting.

Sharinitwitheveryoneandtheirbrother has to be one of the lamest pieces of shite this show has ever had. Her and Nick really deserve each other. Hopefully they move the interesting characters out of their orbit soon so they can sink or swim on their own.

Friday's US has some good dialogue, who wrote it?

The douch-ier Nick is the most I am convinced that's not his baby. I don't care if the test comes back as Nick's first time. With MJ floating around, Chloe pissed beyond measure and Phyllis about to explode, there are too many variables. Plus, Nick is such a jerk, by the time baby comes around no one is going to want to see him with any child, even his own.

You would think so, but some people seem unable to handle that.

Are we really supposed to believe that you aren't biased? Several people have asked you to stop picking on Mark. I'm not sure why you feel the need to keep up the disrespect.

I hate that couple, so that is a clear bias. I don't need to be constanly rationalized as to what their motivations are for being in that pairing.

Did I wish death on Mark or call him some silly name? All I suggested was him to stop trying to rationalize Phick to me, because I'll never like that pairing.

I was referring to this thread alone. I didn't call Mark one name.

I assume if he responded to my message, his post was directed to me in the first place, as well as others, so I responded.

He's free to have his opinions and post them, but my post didn't attack Mark personally. I simply pointed out that he constantly rationalizes that couple to me and in general. I am free to point out what I perceive, right?

Phyliss is desperate, needy, and clings onto any happiness she has ever had.

her obsession with keeping Nick is very true to who Phyliss has always been, IMHO.

That is the only thing i find compelling about this storyline. At all. I am so sick of phyliss/nick/sharon/jack already tho. And im already starting to be sick of Billy is Love.

This show needs some MAJOR balance.

Phyllis asks Nick to

in Friday's US episode. If she regresses and

, I've lost whatever respect I have left for that character. It's one thing to be clingy and desperate, but when you make a bold move and stand your ground, like Phyllis does tomorrow, and if you regress from it, you become an hypocrite and an idiot. I hope she stands firm, Nick doesn't deserve her, especially after the way he acts in Friday's US episode.

    • I just had an epiphany. The most drag moment in soap history is the introduction of Lucy Coe on GH. Miss Coe was the Medical School Librarian.  She was a mousy blond who was called to the stand by the defense of Kevin O'Connor.  She wore her hair in a bun, a blouse buttoned up to the neck, and a modest skirt with flats.  She testified that Kevin was studying at the time of the murder, for which he was on trial, thus clearing him of the charges against him. When we next saw Ms Coe, she arrived home, let down her hair, stripped down to lingerie, threw on a pair of heels, and sprayed some perfume.  Soon, there was a knock on the door, and it was Kevin. Now, that's drag!

    • A really good show to start the week. Philip is really going to shoot himself in the foot, isn't he? He should just be grateful he still is co CEO on paper, but instead he is trying to insert himself into the Hospital takeover. I worry he is going to mess up the whole thing and Xander won't get it, and Bo won't get the cure. Eventually Xander will have to fire him. Alex and Brady were both great today shutting him down. Amused me that nobody has bothered to clue Brady in on the forged letter fiasco. Kristen and Brady discussing their messed up child was very good. I liked that Kristen finally acknowledged her culpability in what Rachel has become. And her interactions with Alex were good too. Alex is strangly working for me these days. Apart from his obsession with Stephanie's soft core porn book of course. I'm in love with Doug3 and Holly. That is all.

Glad that Johnny and Chanel have worked things out. They do communicate well. I think he will be the next arrest in the shooting though. Kate and Roman's discussion would have been better if she had been honest about her recent involvement in corporate fraud, but glad he explained about the gun. Why does Alex have a CEO plaque on his desk? That was SO last year

This news definitely made my day!!! So happy for MVJ, the cast and crew, and all it's faithful fans.
    • Despite having never watched Ryan's Hope, I read Tom Lisanti's book recently as I'm fascinated by behind the scenes stories of soap production. A really enjoyable read, which gave a good sense of the show and New York at that time.  I have to say though, that the vitriol regarding the quality (or lack thereof) of Loving only makes me want to watch that show even more! (It's on my list anyway as I've never seen The Loving Murders).
