Scannell certainly has the look but the chemistry between Julie Osburn and Stephen Schnetzer was so unique and wonderful that I'd rather remember it fondly than risk a pale imitation of it.

Then again, Schnetzer did have chemistry with almost everyone, so who knows?

SS as Cass Rating & Ranking

1 Frankie A++

1 Kathleen A+ *

3 Lila C

4 Nicole D

6 Felicia romantically F

5 Cecile romantically D

* When Kathleen came back, IOW, her second tenure with Cass, an attempt at least, this is not tied for 1 nor does it get an A. It was like a C-, not an epic failure but also not a success.

Obviously this is totally subjective.

Thanks, tep for the idea.

All I can say is that I'm not a fan of MDP for now... and I don't even know if I'll continue with the 1987 episodes. I just tried one more and it's just... unbearable. I will probably snap back into 1989... where it's good!

You've done an admirable job of giving MDP a fair chance. No need to torture yourself. Also it's Philece impersonating Donna not the real deal Anna Stuart.

In 1989, have you gotten to the week of Felicia's birthday yet?

I have a thing about that week.

So, all along for years, fans ask me things about AW. One thing I was asked over & over was if I had any pictures of Linda Dano with long hair. By that they meant when she had the hair extensions in, which dates to that week in 1989 & the birthday bash with the Room of Mirrors where Jason Frame was shot.

Well, I looked & looked & there simply were NO pictures. I figure Linda hated them & had them destroyed or something, maybe. So, I did screenshots so now I have those pix.

I think that's what I'm going to do. I may try again in a different time, but for now I'll pass. I plan to drag my husband into watching AW with me, so I may have to watch October-December 1988 again with him. It will be a pleasure.

We clearly weren't meant to see Kathleen and Cass as a proper couple in her second go-round. They had almost no fun moments together.

At their best I would put them over Cass and Frankie. Stephen and Alice worked well together but I find the relationship overrated and a bit dreary at times.

I would give Cass and Lila a B.

Oh, yeah, the writing definitely had it out for them.

I would suspect that about half of Cass fans go with one & half with the other. From a competition perspective, they'd have to be called well-matched.

I'm quite furious the new Digest special edition "50 greatest couples" does not list Steve & Alice at all.

I am possibly a bit weird about Miss Lila because I really & truly thought she was perfectly suited to Matt.

Have you thought about the fact that Baby Jasmine is now in her mid-twenties?

Thanks for playing my RATE CASS's Ladies game.

They should have! I swear they wrote him so boring. Just an attorney, period. What a waste!!!

    • Martin and Smitty's place - coming home from the store with arms full of groceries, and we see Tide in one.  Then the show pauses.  Cut to commercial - and the commercial starts with random family coming home with groceries including Tide.
    • Makes sense.  I was thinking Kate might have started on the board when Victor was in a coma and just continued to be on it. I know there was a Toscano foundation for Isabella, so you would assume John and Victor were on the board and perhaps let Brady take over?  I can't remember if Stefano/Andre/Tony were ever interested in the hospital, but I would bet they were at some point. I don't know why EJ thinks Brady OR Kate would vote in his favor, especially after he threatened Kate and her sons.
    • Exactly! All of this. And the writers even found a plausible reason for him to move away from it. Unlike some soaps. Same. They hit a goldmine with a young rivalry off the bat.
    • Does Hayley ever leave Bill's side? She's gonna smother that man.

    • I just realized, we've already seen Maurice's Ted last day yesterday, since he isn't on today's episode. I don't even remember who he had his last scene with - was it Eva?
    • Hilarious to hear Vernon singing badly.  And we know Clifton Davis in real life is a singer, so he had to do some acting to sing that badly!
    • I like Martin being the middleman. Hope they continue to show him in light and carefree scenes. C'mon, for Kleenex making their debut.
    • Wonderful episode, Oct 28, 1985, just posted on Youtube notable for a few things: I believe this is Scott McKinsey's first daytime soap director debut; IMDB shows he started directing GL in Dec 85.  The prior episode 10/25 was directed by John Zak who had been in LA directing Santa Barbara Introduction of Domini Blythe as Estelle - the best thing about the show in it's final 15 months. Lloyd Battista (Ray from Love of Life) plays Rivera. Viggo Mortensen acting debut as a thug/informant. I watched SFT during the final few years and Gary Tomlin started off strong, turning around Paul Avila Mayer's disastrous six months as head writer.

    • Same - it doesn't bother me when it's there, but does bother me when written into dialogue or takes away from emotional/important scenes. Same!  Love Kat vs. Eva.  I love a catty little relationship that eventually, slowly turns into some kind of acceptance/love for each other.
