Members Y&RWorldTurner
I love JFP and her production values. Well, not at GH, but she knows to work her way around her directing team's. She's more of a director's producer in that sense. I think she has a huge ego, and when she's paired with hack writers like McTavish, DePriest, and Guza, god, it's like hell. But when she's paired with someone like Nancy Curlee lots amazing things can happen. I think Jill is talented, but often, her ego gets in the way. Members Y&RWorldTurner
Really, as history would have it, Rauch and Phelps are more similar than different. However, Rauch has very little creative influence in terms of Y&R's storylines anyway, so Y&R isn't the best place to judge his work.
Members brimike
This is the best idea I've ever heard!!!!
Members YRBB
Are you sure it would be possible for them to stand side by side with those egos? Why? The producer should STFU and produce what the HW writes.
Members dm.
Well, his other works haven't been that good, as many of you have stated (not that I have seen any). As far as Y&R's production (not stories) goes, he (or Maria) is doing fine.
Members Juliajms
I think she has potential to be really good in this role.
Members Y&RWorldTurner
The overall tone of these shows were always a collaborative effort between EP's and HW's. Hence why certain HW's works are never the same when they venture off to different shows. Certain HW's had more power than EP's, and vice versa, but outside of producing Y&R, Rauch doesn't do much else.
Members dm.
He probably doesn't have too much influence there since Maria taking both Co-EP and HW credits.
Members Y&RWorldTurner
And really, that is a problem for Maria. How can one really be objective when they have that much power? Partly why I sometimes wish Maria would just follow her dreams and hand the show over to an actual storyteller who wants to be there. Maria may love the show, I don't doubt that, but she's clearly doing it to keep it within her family.
Members Khan
Sorry, I'm still not wow-ed by her. I don't think she'll be on the show much longer.
Members soapydoc
I agree! I don't even like Sharon but he is such a warming presense in their scenes. I really want him to be this baby's father.
Members YRBB
I get what you're saying, but I don't see how that applies to Y&R... Bell was THE leader for decades on Y&R... The EP's work was to transfer all he wrote to the screen. But "collaborative effort" (which, by all means, should exist) doesn't mean the EP should have a say (or even worse, a part) on the writing and direction of stories. A producer is there to produce, end of story. How many trainwrecks have their been because of producers affecting story? The EP and HW should definitely talk things out, there should be a back and forth of ideas and possible changes made, but, ultimately, the EP is there to make the transfer from page to screen, and that's it [/rant]
