May 3, 200916 yr Member Did I write that last part?! OMG. Now, Ashley's gaslighter (Y&R) is gaslighting me!
May 3, 200916 yr Member I can't speak for recently but Todd and Jessicahave had scenes together They have amazing on-screen chemistry and it was during the time they kept TSJ's Todd out of a lot of scenes with actress' characters he has amazing screen presence with (IMO) I know they are related but just saying... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_-1r6P3cggI...feature=related They had a scene at his newspaper the Sun once they don't have them often but there are some And here Jessica tells her Uncle Todd about her sex dreams! ... yes it is awkward http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vSVV6ZiSeOA...feature=related Also we found out that Todd knew about Bess before she even existed!!
May 3, 200916 yr Member True, but he might as well be really-and-truly dead (and not just "soap opera dead") since OLTL only rarely remembers him. I think besides the Viki/Dorian/Victor Lord storyline OLTL ignores anything that happened before the 80's.
May 3, 200916 yr Author Member I think besides the Viki/Dorian/Victor Lord storyline OLTL ignores anything that happened before the 80's. I've often thought that RC has selective amnesia....he often times forgets or ignores whole chapters of the show's history, like 1968-1985, 1997-2007 (when he took over). If you look at where most of the characters he has brought back (with the exception of Tina) first appeared on the canvas, it was between about 1985 and 1997.
May 3, 200916 yr Member I'm not surprised they don't go back to older history (Frons probably thinks a Wolek is a foreign car), but my problem is that the returns they've done haven't been very well-written, or particularly relevant. I wasn't surprised by Carlo's return being a waste of time, because his entire last return in 1996-1997 was a waste of time, but I'm still demoralized about what happened to Tina's return. And this current story turning the Spring Fling into yet another rehab attempt for Todd and a John/Marty "adventure"...ugh. For many years I was an advocate for incorporating history into soaps, bringing old characters back, but OLTL and other soaps like Y&R are currently using history as too much of a crutch to actually move story forward.
May 3, 200916 yr Member My main beef with using history in soaps is that often shows get stuck in the past. I like the idea of using the past to tell new stories in the present that will have a large effect on the future.
