Michelle Stafford has a fantastic scene with the mound of dirt representing the Bradsicle.

I sure hope Chloe will be back this week. I think Chloe scares the crap out of TPTB them because Lily is supposed to be the starlet of Y&R but Liz H is the real STAR!!

Fingers crossed for a good week, not the dull as dishwater stuff from the week before last.

Well I read it.

And from the transcript ALONE I almost peed my pants :-). I mean, was there one non-great moment in the whole thing?

Ordinarily I'd say, if a set is built, the character will stick around. But on Y&R, it could be a one-day thing :). They seem to have the bucks. But I have a feeling that this is addressing another wrong from previous administrations.

For some reason I thought that was all the way back on Wednesday's show since I mostly listened to Monday's show.

They did build a Principal's office set for Ashley and Victor to have a conversation in. Although I'm beginning to wonder if the teenagers are going to be visiting it a lot in the near future.

Michelle is playing Phyllis with such a creepy undertone in Monday's episode. This nice act Phyllis has going has a somewhat psychotic undercurrent to it. It's nice to see Stafford actually attempt to act again.

I still hate Tammin, and if she could've hid her accent a little better, her little rant against Victor would've been good. But I must say, it was probably her best acting since she's been on this show.

And yes, it was a joy to see Doris again. It looks like Sharon's going to be hitting rock-bottom soon. From what I hear, her relationship with Doris will be apart of this story, should be interesting.

I saw no improvement in Tammin and she's a major weak link in this story. Forget her mediocre acting, but she's still severely miscast. She doesn't have romantic chemistry with any guys on the show nor does she share chemistry with her parents. Then as she gets upset her accept comes out more and more. Her body movement and everything seemed off in her scenes opposite Braeden. It was brave to put her up against him, but completely forgettable as well.

I've been most impressed with Beth Maitland and how well she fits into the show. Shame Brad is dead because that would be the perfect love interest for her. I'd been saying that for a long time, but now he's dead. Loved her interactions with everyone, especially Victor. She seemed slightly annoyed with him, but she smiled because she's polite and for Ashley's sake. I love how short she was with him. Everyone doesn't need to love and worship Victor and I like that the writers are acknowledging that these days.

I have felt for the last week now that all Colleen's scenes would have been so much better with a different actress in the part. She's just not Colleen, so while the scenes have been well written, they are hollow and have no more meaning to me than someone reading out of a phone book.

    • Dina was Jack, Ashley and Tracy's mom on Y&R.  Joanna was Lauren Fenmore's mother, played by Susan Seaworth-Hayes.
    • The funeral was not onscreen - only the Brooks returning home after the service. Not aware of any available clips.
    • Very very well said!!!

I would only add that Sam Ratcliff is frequently named in regards to certain AW comedic turns.  And, we know from Carolyn Culliton (tweet 2024) that Sam & Gary put their heads together & came up with that gorilla.
    • I knew you would be so excited seeing your girl Brookey as #1!!!! She also WINS as to Frequently Married!!!
    • Yes, Stacy does this both for early DAYS & early GH. I have written some for her, for DAYS. But just one tiny point & that is that she only deals with DVDs. I realize that is not the point of your posting but it seemed the right thing to clarify. I know that you know that video tapes is past, not present.
    • Hahahha I think sleeping with almost all of your daughters's boyfriends and husbands and getting pregnant... definitely gives Brooke the right to top 1 place. Long live the whore of Beverly hills.

    • CurlyQGrl has DVDs of some episodes, that they can sell, but that doesn't matter. What is helpful: they describe the scenes on the tapes, so you can read that as recaps without ordering anything. Doesn't really give storylines, though, which is what you asked for.  Here's the links anyhow. full menu https://www.angelfire.com/tv/curlyqgrl/menu.html GH page https://www.angelfire.com/tv/curlyqgrl/gh/menu.html GH 1960s https://www.angelfire.com/tv/curlyqgrl/gh/eps/gheps1960s.htm
    • I would argue that Another World never played "everything" for laughs. Even when there were comedic scenes in some storylines there were other storylines that were not intended as comedy.  You give 1988 as the end point, and Mary was on the canvas from August 1986 to February 1989, so she must have overlapped with the despised laughs you are referring to at least half of the time she was there. I honestly can't recall any real comedy that Mary would have been part of. I don't think she was lighthearted about choosing between two husbands, MJ's prostitution, Kathleen's death, or even her son Scott dating her daughter Cheryl.  I would have said that the amount of comedy depended on the head writer and there was more comedy under Richard Culliton and Gary Tomlin in 1984 than subsequent headwriters. I guess there was an outbreak of more comedy when Cecile kidnapped Cass from his wedding in 1986, but in general the Sin Stalker wasn't presented as funny, Mitch's return wasn't funny, John's arrival wasn't funny, Reginald wasn't funny. The tone was serious even if the plots verged on the ludicrous. And maybe that's what you mean -- but I would make a distinction between intentional comedy and storylines I can't take seriously for other reasons.
    • I'm excited for us to get back to a full weeks worth of episodes and also us beginning to move into the episodes filmed once the show premiered. We're already starting to see changes in the lighting and the way certain characters are styled. Of course we know this week we have our first recast as well. After the big Eva reveal, I hope the show continues to move into a positive direction and that we see them starting to fix some of the things we've all had issues with.
