MTS has been nominated for an Emmy, once, in 1999, she lost to Susan Lucci (the greatest awards show speech ever)...I think she wants one too, but I think she's also aware that, like Katherine Kelly Lang, she doesn't have a hope in hell of winning.

Eric Braeden definitely did some of his greatest work this year, without question 2008 was a banner year for him. That said, he doesn't dig the Emmys, he's already got one and he hates to lose...so I think the prospect of being nominated and losing to Christian Jules LeBlanc makes his blood boil.

Jess hasn't submitted her name for years, she really is of the opinion that she's won twice, once supporting and once lead and that that's 'enough' for her. She's unselfish and a helluva great lady. I agree that Peter Bergman should be nominated, he always does a great job.

The sad thing is- Eric would have won this damn thing if he got the nomination. I am sure of it.

Off topic- What the hell made Christian LeBlanc add Jules to his damn name? I am sure it is a meaningful reason, but damn if I don't laugh everytime I see or hear it. Adding a middle name to your original name at the age of 45 is weird to me.

Daytimefan- As a longtime Peter Bergman non-fan- Is he as annoying, pompous, and arrogant as I have always found him in interviews, talk shows, ect??...Or is he an okay guy? Terry Lester all the way for me. (RIP)

Many of the actors use a different name when submitting for Emmys or Awards. I remember the actor Lawrence Keith would most often be called Larry Keith or credited as so but when he was nominated for an Emmy it was as Lawrence Keith.

Also H. Wesley Kenney would most often be Wes Kenney but his Emmys always used H. Wesley Kenney.

Oh I thought she hadn't been nominated before. Maybe it was KKL I was thinking of. I remember when some people meter thing came out and #1 was Julia Roberts and #2 was MTS. it was in all the soap news. So many poeple know Nikki Newman and adore her. If she never wins, I'm sure it's enough that people have enjoyed her for so many years. The Emmy's ain't what they used to be. People in the industry don't care about soaps anymore and they used to and the Emmy's represent that. They don't respect soap actors at all.

For me, the emmy's have become a giant junior high school class election. How many times are we supposed to read the noms and roll our eyes, then see the awards and want to vomit? NATAS has done themselves no favors for sure and I'll be actually a little happy if the Emmy's don't air cause that means NATAS won't get their license fee, which they depend on. Perhaps this will give them the kick in the butt they need to get their acts together. Or just end the Daytime emmy's all together since the system is so broken.

LOL @ your comment about EB not liking to lose, and not to LeBlanc! I so agree.

I just can't get over each year the reaction to the Emmys, the noms or the pre-noms. And esp. the reaction that they have become that way. As if they have at one time or another got it right.

When it is nowhere even close that they ever got it right.

It is not like all this stuff just started. All the way back to the beginning people got nominated that shouldn't and so many got left out that should have been on there. I mean for the first few years the #1 show in daytime ATWT was ignored. The show didn't even get it's first major nomination until 7 years in. GL took 6 years to get it's first. CBS was virtually ignored in nominations for the first 6 years.

In 1983 out of 33 major nominations ABC got 30 of them.

Remember names like Uta Hagen and Julius LaRosa who got supporting nominations for virtually doing nothing in the 80's.

Remember names like Constance Ford, Phillip Carey and even Eileen Fulton during her heyday of good stuff in the 70's who were completely ignored. Fulton later did pull one supporting nomination. GL actors like Michael Zaslow and Lisa Brown in particular who were spectacular in the late 70's and early 80's were ignored.

If you were a GL or ATWT actor in the 70's and early 80's you couldn't even pay for an Emmy nomination. Y&R actors in the 70's and early 80's couldn't either. Jeanne Cooper had some of her best stuff ever in the 70's but yet was ignored at Emmy time.

The Emmys have never been a show where the people who deserved to be nominated got nominated. And it has always been a show where often you sit and wonder how they got the win.

One of the biggest and most stupid Emmy moments was the year that Scott Defreitas got all the praise from the press for his turn as teen alcoholic. He was supposed to be a shoe in for Best Young Actor. Come Emmy time there were only 2 nominees for Best Young Actor. Guess who they were Andy Kakovit and Bryan Buffington.

Nothing surprises me with the Emmys. Occassionally they get it right and give the Emmy to the most deserving but most often the person who wins was not the Best in Soaps for that year.

Daytimefan, can you tell me who Victoria Rowell was close to on set? During her infamous interview she mentioned how much respect she had for Braden and I wondered if he was among the ones (if any) she considered a friend.

Victoria Rowell was friends with Sharon Case.

Tonya Lee Williams and Ms Rowell had a very cordial working relationship. Jeanne Cooper and Jess Walton both found Ms Rowell amusing, in turn Ms Rowell found Ms Cooper and Ms Walton amusing as well.

It's very true that Eric Braeden keeps his work life and private life separate. Eric is on set friends with Jeanne Cooper, Jess Walton, Eileen Davidson, Melody Thomas Scott, Joshua Morrow, Don Diamont and Heather Tom (when she was on the show). He is like MTS, they go to work and they leave. It's not that they really dislike anyone, it's that they keep their lives separate from the show.

QUOTE (Chris B @ Jan 17 2009, 02:37 PM)
Yep Queen, Rowell was right. She wasn't being crazy or a diva, it clearly IS a popularity contest.

I'm no fan, but I must say that Khalil more than deserved her slot for Younger Actress. She has several things she can submit and IMO has been doing well in her role as nuChristine. As long as I don't think of her as Lily, it's fine.

She should submit the bitch scenes as that is what she is best at. The scene where she was yelling at Chloe, and Chloe falls off the ladder was good, as was the one from the other day at the book store where she's looking at Chloe and Billy with a look of pure hatred. The rest of her scenes this past year are as empty and vacant as Lily's head.
