Memo to Ron Carlivati!!!!

I see Ron getting a Co Head this year. My opinion is that Ron should have been promoted with Shelly Altman, who was his breakdown confidant for years before he rose to HW. The two of them together could rock OLTL's socks. I would love Carolyn to be promoted but I dont see her coming up from Script editor to Co- Head.

As far as Katherine Shock- I found OLTL (Whitesell/Broderick) at that point very, very campy. It was not my favorite time. Dare I say that I enjoyed JFP's and the much maligned whatshernames dark and plot driven OLTL much better than Gary Tomlin's?? (Ducks head) Whitesell and Broderick wrote the trading places episode that got OLTL Best Show?

Would Katherine Shock by any chance write ALL of Tuc's material? lol

With the exception of Ron, Shelly, Aida, Larry Carpenter, and Elizabeth Page, everyone backstage on this show needs to be fired. From the EP, directors, associate head writers, and script writers.

I can't help but think that Cascio is the one behind all these baby switches and stuff. Wasn't she on ATWT when Craig pulled a baby switch?

RC missed an opportunity when the idiots at DAYS decided to let go nearly all the people Sheffer brought onto that show.

Anna Cacsio started her career on OLTL, she started in 1996 and was there until she went to co-head write for AMC. Actually Cascio is a talented writer and she was not given a huge chance at AMC when they brought McTavish back. Shelly Altman is a good writer as well. The thing is you do not know if they are head writer material. Ron IMO is one of the few who proved it but David Kriezman is awful at GL. Carolyn Culliton is a very talented writer as she was taught Hogan alot at ATWT. When Carolyn was replaced with Jean Passanante things got went south. I would love Culliton to go back to ATWT to be sole head writer but Goutman loves Jean P. Jean has been with ATWT for almost seven and half years LOL. There are no breakdown writers in daytime anymore, the associate head writers have to do all the breakdowns. That is why they are alot of unemployed daytime writers.

    • I really hope the next steps with the show are building up/out family or story for both Mona and Shanice. Mona has always struck me as prime real estate for a proper family setup.
    • Mona's scenes with Leslie were golden! As well as with Eva.

    • I can't speak for all of Ryan's Hope, but I tried to watch it recently, and I found it difficult to get into. The overacting from some of the supporting/bit players was just too much. The show is not as fresh and vibrant as Edge of Night. I have Lisanti's book and wanted to watch some of the show before reading it, but the show is dated compared to other shows (Doctors and EON for ex.) that I found much more watchable and fresh. Perhaps, RH was more of its time than the other two. I don't know why I find RH so hard to watch.
    • From that time period, the one thing that was played for laughs, that stands out to me the most, was Cecile and Kathleen's pie fight, while that French can-can music played.
    • IKR! Tanya Turner, at one point, was EVERYTHING.
    • I can see both sides here. I don't believe that everything in that period was intended as comedy, but I think John Considine played the part in a very mustache-twirling way, as did Marcus Smythe as Peter until near the end, and that did come across as the material not being taken seriously. And I think the same is true of some of the treatment of other stories. The Sin Stalker, for instance, has that incredibly batshit material with Crystal Gayle being attacked. It's pure WTF, and something that, if done in more recent decades, would probably end up having the part played by a Drag Race queen or a Real Housewife.  The main takeaway I have from that period is how little those running the show cared. There's just a callousness. And that leads to a real cynicism onscreen.
    • I think too many of Mary's storylines were absolutely depressing. A lot of that  though was mitigated by her relationship with Scott, Cheryl, Ada and other characters though. I'm one of the few who preferred Mary with Reginald and wish that they had made Reginald less of a villain and made the Reginald/Mary/Vince triangle more of a battle and less a foregone conclusion. Mary choosing Reginald had much more storyline possibilities. What if what if what if...
    • Thank you for the info about SFT related to EON. I thought about adding SFT to my watch list, but I don't know if it's the kind of soap for me. I know very little about it except for a few of the actors and that it was on two different networks. I also know based on this board or somewhere else that the two Lizas both died young from cancer. Warms my heart to see so many EON people on SFT because they are such good performers and I wish they had been moved to other shows. Perhaps, they were and I'm just not aware of it.
