Out of these modern ones, I guess I have to go with the hotel fire because that was the first Irwin Allen type one so it had the biggest impact. Skye and Luke saying goodbye like something out of a 1940s movie, Nik on the roof as Emily takes off..there was some good stuff.

The Virus started out promising, the train treck too, but they both sort of fizzled by the end. I liked the Markaam Islands with all the old timers on the island and then Robin solves the whodunnit. Plus Tracy riding in like Cleopatra.

The Hotel was a dud. Everyday Mr Craig threatens to shoot someone in the head but winds up never shooting anybody. It was tough to take him seriously as a villain. The haunted house thing was ok sorta kinda, but to be honest I think the horror movie at the Q house a few years prior was better told (with Mary dressed llike Scream). The TMK was ok, but it only lasted a few days. Laura waking up was nice at first but them petered out. This most recent one with Laura and Scott was decent. I enjoyed it.

I will forever HATE the Metro Court Hostage Crisis....that storyline was the start of Guza's final plan for the destruction of not only the Quartemaines, but also Skye Chandler Quartermaine (the way she was written from choosing Lorenzo over Alan, and the rest of the Qs still to this day makes me sad..lol).

Oh hell YES. Corky was awful. Could. Not. STAND all the eye-rolling,

self-righteousness,

and hectoring.

And the Virus SL was great for four reasons.

1. Robert Scorpio talking about PC's "criminal element" and that in the event of an antidote, they should be the LAST in line to get it.

2. Carly trying to reason with a chimp.

"Jason. He's not listening to me!"

3. Sonny modeling a fetching, off-the-shoulder hospital gown.

He's smiling with his EYES.

4. Skipper finally popping her clogs.

    • Thanks. I'm glad we have some fan memories of these years as this is such a typically snide take on the genre. It's also poorly written and reminds me a great deal of the tedious "snark" recaps that became popular in the '90s. The end in particular. The 1979/80 stuff I have seen is much more polished than a number of soaps at the time. It was very easy to watch and not too bogged down in past story.  Margo is played by Ann Williams, who was on what seemed like every soap. I think she said Margo was her favorite role.
    • And the rating 'wars' continue...hehe.
    • Well, it was fun while it lasted for Rebecca Herbst. Le sigh.
    • I am wholeheartedly enjoying this show. I just haven't been able to post as much as I used to. But yes, this episode needs to be submitted for the EMMYs and there needs to be wins. I better NOT see Y&R, DAYS, or B&B winning in categories over BTG. I feel like the only show that is giving BTG an ounce of competition this season is GH.
    • I never thought the day would come, but too much MM for me.
    • I think it may be that the character was brought in for a specific purpose and then became popular with viewers, and the show didn't know how to respond.  The choice to pivot away from Simon/India may show that you are right and they didn't care for her...although pairing them up may be another sign they didn't care for her. I don't connect well with this period but it does make me happy seeing some of these characters before the great purge and some of the surprises - I'd forgotten the wonderful Maureen O'Sullivan popped up to be bumped off. So typical of soaps by this point, but it doesn't grate as much as later on when Y&R would bring on any random cast member from Small Wonder. I'm also amazed at this time at just how much money the show must have had. The costumes for the Founder's celebration in summer 1984, or whatever it was, looked gorgeous.
    • Which officially started to feel that way today with them hearing each other out as they confronted each other at the same time.    Same. He was even catching himself when he was about to go overboard or do those tics that people don't seem to like. He failed a bit at the end, but he carried. It makes me think about a month back when it was discussed that the actor was better in other things he's been in. And I questioned then if that meant that he was playing Martin more intentionally. I questioned that briefly again today because he was giving.
    • I really like the actress who plays Margo. Don't know  her name. I'm so hesitant to google anyone because I don't want to know the length they were on the show. I've watched two episodes and I have to say that the show does not feel as dated as other shows. I tried to watch Ryan's Hope a few weeks back and some of the acting was a bit rough. EON is a lot more natural which amuses me considering it's a mystery/thriller show.
    • She’s INCREDIBLE. I’m so glad you enjoyed this my friend.
