Apparently, MAGA knuckle draggers are now thanking Joe on TwitX for calling them the real garbage floating.

He's right, of course. But they are now crowing how that cost Kamala the election. Frankly, I'd laugh after the Nazi rally at MSG, but then I think of the Clinton "basket of deplorables" deal, and...well, who the hell knows anymore?

Guess a week from tonight will tell the tale.

Not what he was saying. He was taken out of context from his full remarks (which were referring to the MSG speeches), which were quoted by Times reporters and he has already gone out to clean it up.

I'm sure we'll hear the usual overblown predictions of doom from credulous anchors and the right, but it's not gonna go anywhere serious.

I feel like there's already a lot which shows how much he's still in this (polling, early voting, reports of lack of motivation for her in some swing states like Michigan, the tone of her campaign over the last week having to lean so much into fascism and focusing on him which suggests she or her campaign may not have much confidence in themselves), so I don't think it's right to blame everything on him, but, misconstrued or not, the timing was absolutely perfect for Trump and for the media.

They were tired of the MSG story and can now motivate his supporters as well as anyone who was wavering and the brain dead "undecideds" who love shiny objects. This is the exact type of story that the Beltway press loves. It's something they can pin on the wall as the "moment" Trump won, so that will make their job easier. It frames the conversation to a place where Trump and his supporters look like badasses fighting back against the elite world of Biden and Harris. It also means Harris will have to face question after question asking whether she thinks Trump supporters are garbage. It's deplorables all over again.

Eh. I'm not sure this is all that bad after MSG. And polling is...well...it's been wrong before. It can be again.

Anyway, timeline cleanse! Randy Rainbow has another video. Imagine a mashup of, of all songs, "Xanadu" and..."In The Year 2525". Unlikely? Yes. But it works!

The MSG story was less than 48 hours ago and is still huge. There is no way this is going to get nearly that amount of traction, I'm sorry. Especially not after major reporters like Lemire directly carrying Biden's clarification.

And at this point there are as many strong confidence reports out of the Harris campaign in the news as the Politico concern trolling reports - one is not automatically more valid than the other. Same with the good polling/EV numbers that have been quoted here; are they just to be discounted? We can weave a narrative from anything, but there's no need to automatically take the Trump campaign/right wing framework at total face value.

I will forever pass on Randy Rainbow.

It's gonna be a two day thing tops. They'll try to get it going to maximize the horse race but there's really not much there, and it's honestly too late anyway. But I'm not surprised at all that Alex Thompson, Rachael Bade and Politico/Axios are breathlessly trying to make it an endzone goal overnight. Bade especially (and both outlets in general) have always been in the tank for the GOP, and Thompson, who lost a book deal re: Biden, purely has it out for Biden and now Harris. I have no idea what he's going to do when/if we win. Maybe go looking for Kamala's old neighbors and HS classmates.

If anything it gives Harris an interesting opening to distinguish herself from Joe - something some corners are so eager on - though Joe has already addressed it.

I keep seeing reports on things not going well in EV in Nevada, Arizona, Georgia, etc. There is still the Blue Wall, hopefully, but having to count on them makes me wary as polling is so tight (many even having him up), and Trump outperformed polling the last two times he ran. So much favors Trump in this environment that any distraction hurts Harris. The day that should have been about her closing speech, her moment, becomes about Biden's comments and allows for an easy hook for Trump supporters. I think it's sad that the media laps this up, but I do think they will, because this is their dream come true.

    • Also, the lawsuit story was not the right story to bring Naomi and Bill into a court battle since those types of lawsuits are usually resolved via settlements.
    • I know that Sara did eventually become Carrie's therapist, but I was curious if the show had her make comments regarding Carrie's stunts of making it seem as though Justin was cheating on Jackie.  Given that Justin cheated on Sara with both Jackie and Brandy, I wondered if it was wise of her to counsel Carrie given the conflict of interest involved. @DRW50I think once Adam/Sara end up married.. Marland didn't see any reason to explore Sara's personal life after the actor playing Adam was released.  I know that Sara lasts until at least Christmas 1982 on the show.. but I don't think she ended up staying on for very long into 1983. The period between Marland quitting and Pam Long starting was the perfect time to clean house on characters that had outgrown their usefulness  (i.e. Ben, Evie, Sara, Jennifer, Morgan).. and tying up stories started by Marland that were too complex (Mona Enright, Mark/Jennifer/Amanda triangle).
    • Unpopular opinion:  The focus on the soap opera tropes over the mysteries and crimes was partly what did the show in.  Also, featuring characters not involved in the legal, police, and criminal elements also hurt the show and took away what made it unique. Featuring characters like Jody, Raven, Sky, etc hurt the show long term.  The show ABCified starting in 1976/1977 and then went through a youthification period starting in 1981.
    • I feel like the lawsuit storyline was resolved quickly because the show didn’t want to spring for more sets.
    • It's been a while, but we have seen the foyer to Bill and Hayley's house as well as the exterior entrance to their house. The foyer was first seen in the premiere episode when Hayley met Vanessa at the house.
    • There's still a year or two before Larkin arrives. Joel is there already. EON does noticeably youthify, although I think they carry it off. Admittedly I haven't seen most of the Jody stories, which from what people here have said aren't great.
    • I don't mind the actor who plays Brian. He's fine. The problem for me is that Paige seems so wishy wishy. She doesn't seem to have much of a personality at this point so I don't see why Brian would be so besotted with her. She just lurches from one trauma to the next. Granted, it's only been a month, but she's not as vibrant as April or even Deborah who has had minimal screen time by this point.  I do worry about the influence of GH on the show since I'm in fall of 1979 and characters have conversations and there's not the drive to "youthify" the show. However, I think Marceau (sp?) is gone. He was given a rather tame sendoff. How long was the actor on the show? I hope this is not a sign of things to come. I worry the show is setting up a murder mystery around one of my favorite characters and I will be mightily annoyed. I also noticed in recent Search for Tomorrow episodes uploaded to YT that the actors playing Logan and Eliot showed up. I don't watch the show but they were in the screencaps. When does Larkin Malloy show up or has he already left? Joel Crothers hasn't shown up either unless I've blinked and missed him.
    • Dr Linden. She treated Vanessa's drug addiction (although Vanessa seemed to forget that by Henry's suicide attempt) , and she's mentioned during Reva's PPD. Although I can't recall if she's actually shown right off the top of my head. She probably was temporarily shelved when Sonni was a therapist (between her crazy times) And I think Billy sees her after he falls off the wagon after Reva's death.
