Apparently there's a new poll showing that Harris is closing in on Trump in Texas. Is it at all possible that she could win there?

I don't think so. A lot of Hispanics in Texas and new voters to Texas have pushed the state further right.

Harris' pollsters have said (as Biden's did in 2020) that it's much closer than many public polls suggest. If she wins, it's likely going to be very narrow.

I would take a margin of 1 vote if it meant Texas would turn blue.   ^_^

But I realize it's very unlikely, so I would settle for Ted Cruz losing his senate seat....  :P

It may well be close, but they're saying that and continuing to talk about the underdog to keep people vigilant and focused. There is certainly work to do, but if we continue to accelerate like this I am not convinced it will be that close in the end. Like 2012 (or '08) I've had that feeling for a week or two now.

I hope so, but Trump is just a god to so many people, and the media adores him.

Me too. From a few bits I've heard his opponent hasn't run a good campaign, but I'd love if he loses.

In case there's anyone left who hasn't seen the big moment with the Walzes last night from his great speech:

the mocking of gus’s tears has already started in the usual places. what’s the over/under on how long can trump resist the urge to join in?

That's just how those creeps are in that element, it's baked in sadly. But the larger public reaction has for the most part been very positive. I'm sure Trump will, and let him; it'll only hurt him more.

If you can't read the last tweet, it's some backtracking from yet another cosplay activist who tweeted about how Chicago was "ready" for Kamala Harris and then played victim when some people took it as a real threat.

They will look for any reason to help Trump get elected. Any excuse. They should just go ahead and endorse him. I don't believe most of this is ever about helping anyone in Gaza.

I think he'll leave that to JD Vance.

As soon as I saw it I knew what would happen. I wish that people would just try to keep their kids out of the public eye. I still remember how horribly Chelsea Clinton was treated.

Nonetheless, the kids were a hit and it's gone over well. Nobody made Gus do that.

I kept waiting for the talking point that would explain why the only question Vance kept asking was how long each of them had worked there, but he never tied it all together before the clip ended. It felt like he just doesn't know how to draw humans out while making conversation.
