DAYS: Reilly returning?

I doubt Reilly returns to DAYS though. I think they might want him but nah on that. Reilly/Corday hate each other bigtime. It stems from years ago when Reilly at the height of his DAYS run decided to leave to create Passions. Corday was furious he left at the height of high ratings. Then Reilly was brought back in 2003 by NBC not Corday. Corday did not want that to happen and he has always loved Dena Higley. He lost the war in that one when NBC refused to renew the soap unless Reilly was at the helm. He balked and brought Reilly back. The problem is Reilly doing two shows ruined both of them. The ratings soured by the end of Reilly's run. Corday wanted him gone badly. Reilly though was in the midst of a major contract with no outs. NBC was okay with Corday letting him go but he had to eat the cost of it not NBC. Reilly was very upset with NBC for cancelling Passions. For the first time ever guess what I heard Reilly is doing retiring from daytime at the moment. Reilly is VERY VERY RICH. The richest head writer in daytime history. Nobody has amassed the fortune that man has made. He is richer then Corday. He does not need to return to daytime at the moment. I am sure when Reilly is ready he will return but he is very expensive, wants a 100 percent creative control, and that is nothing something soaps do anymore. Reilly is taking time off for the first time in like 20 years. I highly doubt he returns to DAYS OR NBC but another soap is possibility.

Maybe Tomlin can act as buffer between Corday and Reilly?

Hopefully!

Also, as much as he's hated now, I think Tom Langan was a huge reason why JER's first DAYS stint worked so well. He knew how to interpret and execute JER's crap and strangely enough, kept him in check. Langan not being there during JER's second DAYS stint was quite noticeable on screen.

Of course it's easier when your EP doesn't try to get you fired and hates you. LOL

Yes, they hate each other, in the business, you never say never. Corday is man who will listen to anything.....if you're able to convince him. You're right that if Reilly came back, it wouldn't be about money, like you said, he doesn't need the money. But he could come back for the next couple months under his old contract (which Corday is still paying him for) and once that expires, Reilly can go for a cheaper contract.

Reilly is a writer and he needs to write.

Reilly says he's unable to drive an automobile because "I get so involved in looking at the next car and imagining what those people's stories are——are they married, are they having a fight?"

If he had the chance to write for DAYS again, in a healthy environment, I think he would do it. Reilly loves soaps....Other writers can go write primetime, or novels or plays....but Reilly is a soap writer who he lives and breathes SOAPS.

......Yes....I wouldn't mind....

Welcome to the dark side, my friend. :)

I've been wanting JER to return to Days for a very, very long time now. I believe 100% that only JER can save Days. I have that feeling that I cannot explain at all. I've even been praying for JER to come back at Days and save that show. I'm not watching Days right now because the show is just a mess. Haven't watched in 2 months now.

No. I don't want this. I'd rather Days die out with some dignity than go forward and be hard pressed to find a writer who can recover the show from his bullshit.

How about digging up some fresh talents rather than going to a well that dried out years ago?

And am I the only one that remembers the incessant "Lets show this crap that happened yesterday in flashbacks over and over again" bull that he did?

I would probably be against this if DAYS' future weren't so uncertain, but why the hell not? What does DAYS have to loose at this point? History has shown that only Reilly could significantly boost DAYS' ratings, it might not be stable for a long time, but a boost is a boost.

I hate Reilly's writing "style"--I think he personifies laziness. That said... I agree with this 100%. Let's face it, DAYS has not been any better since he left, really, and msot of the fans it has right now (of my generation) still seem to want a return to the Reilly style that got them into it in the first place.

Reilly's richer than Irna was, Agnes Nixon, Bill Bell, even Bradley Bell? I don't think so...

Funny thing is... I couldn't care less.

In fact, I could even get a good laugh out of this new stint of his. God knows what sort of awfully idiotic storyline projection will he provide this time.

Sadly, I agree. DAYS is my baby; DAYS is my show. But it's also a weak, fragmented version of what it once was.

Hell, make Marlena morph into a demon creature and bite the heads off of all her grandchildren, have Sami shake her rattle and cry whenever Roman kisses somebody other than mommy, have Bo go undercover in the XXX-rated porn business and have to get breast implants so he can perform in a 'Chicks-with-D*cks' flick, . . . and all the while, Chelsea will be too worried about her love life to care that her daddy has boobs.

Make it a freakshow. I have my memories of yesteryear

That being said, even with all the demonic figures, glowing eyes, supernatural paranoia, and serial rapists, the ratings won't budge. There's just no interest in daytime anymore folks.

I'm sorry, but I can't sit through another minute of "that one". I will walk if he comes back.

That said, I can't see it happening.

i will quit if he returns.

because even if tis good, it wont matter ebcause in the end it will all be fake.

unless an episode startts with marlena and goes all the way back to the SSK storyline. And they undo the undo of the island and every craptastic thing since then. lol

Well Bell and Nixon have been around forever. Actually Reilly is pretty much up there. He is extremely very very rich. He made himself a fortune on soaps. Even though Reilly's Passions replaced AW, actually all the money Reilly made for NBC allowed them to create Sunset Beach and Passions and also keep AW on the air longer. He made NBC an absolute fortune. I mean ridiculous amounts of money with his high ratings. Reilly is is a multi multi millionaire and when I mean rich extremely rich. He does not need to return to daytime right now. He might return to daytime if they offer was right one. He will not go back to DAYS. First he hates NBC for cancelling Passions and second he hates Ken Corday. I think Reilly would be open to return to daytime but for a different show. Right now I doubt it at this time he wants to return. That man has worked his butt off over 20 years. From going from GL to a five year DAYS run, to consulting Sunset Beach, to create/head writing Passions, to head write Passions/DAYS at the same time and to wrap Passions. I am surprised he has had any sleep but I am sure he is enjoying much needed time off.
