AMC: The Big Event-TV Guide Article

They should've used this to kick-start November sweeps, it seems pointless for a show near the bottom of the ratings to do something this grand during the earlier part of October. The fallout could've played out during December and the beginning of the new year. You just don't use a sweeps month to play the fall-out, Pratt should've known this from GH.

Anyway, it sounds good, even if that pic of Rylee in the article made me want to puke.

If anything, I think they'll be using this event to create more of a community atmosphere on the show - you know, people banding together in times of need.

Julie Hanan Carruthers on the 1994 Tornado: "It was basically a one tornado, one-episode event and they had to keep their walls up - our walls are coming down."

Um, Julie, it was still better than anything you've ever produced.

Thanks for the article. The tornado event sounds really exciting. This along with the returning actors will have me checking out AMC for the first time in 2 years.

Really? I never got much of a sense of community under B&E though I got the feeling they wanted one--the characters were too isolated with their own stories--now we actually have them all interacting

Oh definitely, the characters were completely isolated, this is the first time in a long time we've gotten more characters interacting, especially with characters who haven't interacted with each other at all

Sounds very interesting....... it will be intriguing to see how the CGI looks.....

Julie Carruthers need to shut her mouth though. I agree witrh Alvin..... just because you are doing CGI in 2008.... doesn't undermine the technical achievement the 1994 tornado was for daytime.....

On Entertainment Tonight tonight, they talked about Susan Lucci's busy schedule and how she had to be film tornado scenes on AMC. They then showed a clip of Erica yelling at Adam.

Awww I didn't watch ET! Rats!! :(

I don't have a problem with it. I can't wait until the tornado! :)

I do not like the sound of that.

Why not?

Wouldn't it be awesome if the tornado landed on top of her?:P

Don't twister usually do a great job blowing away trash? ;)

The sets they have built recently are all really good, though (ConFusion, the new hospital set, Angie & Jesse's apartment, Amanda's boat). I hope that they'll use this to give their sets a fresh coat of paint and to freshen a few things up, I dont see them having the budget to build a slew of new sets all at once, smaller or not.

Angie and Jesse's apartment is actually a 5 year old set, it was Trey's, Simone's, Jack's, and a few others have passed through there over the last few years.

Amanda's Yacht is actually Erica and Jack's yacht that they got after they married a few years ago (05?). It was bought by the Chandlers when they divorced and then was blackmailed out of them by Amanda.

I would be more excited about this if it wasnt for the fact that this is obviously all about a Rylee reunion. I would actually have more faith in Brown and Estensen doing this as they brought a feeling of community to AMC that it has been lacking lately, despite the great work that Pratt is doing, but I still think this is going to be great.

The only thing I'm not so sure about is the CGI backgrounds they're using, I mean it's one thing for it to be used sparingly, and when it's good it's good, but if it's the same as Jason riding on a speedboat to Wyndermere in the middle of the night with wind and rain blowing on him, then I'd rather have "wind machines and rubble".

Does this mean AMC is going to be getting a lot of new sets?

Hey UKBoi. Babe will Die and JR will Start Drinking Again and Krystal will Turn to Adam. Other People will also be Affected. The Tornado Is NOT Just about A Rylee Reunion. Ryan and Greenlee May Get Back Together, but Other People are Also Affected by the Tornado. The Tornado is an Umbrella Storyline that will Affect ALL Of Pine Valley so the Community will be Affected. Jody
